Off the subject, but I am fired up tonight.
I can't believe it, the G D lawyers are running the war. They have screwed everything else up. They may as well do us in totally. So just turn the whole thing over to the lawyers.

Three separate articles in today's LA Times.

First, I quote " The New yorker magazine reported that on the first night of bombing raids in Afganistan, a CIA plane had the leader of the Taliban in it's sights but was refused permission to fire. The magazine, in it's Oct. 22 edition, said that an unstaffed Predator reconnaissance aircraft controlled by the CIA and equipped with two antitank missiles identified a convoy of cars and trucks leaving Kabul as carrying Mullah Mohammed Omar. It said the CIA did not have the authority to fire the missiles, and the commander of the U.S. Central Command in Florida did not authorize firing the missles because of concerns express by military LAWYERS"
I think it's odd that this so called commander is the same guy that has authority to shoot down U.S. commercial airliners with no further authority, but has to check with the lawyers before he can shoot down the enemy. I ask you, is this any way to fight a war?

Second article:
"Atty. Gen. John Ashcroft said Sunday that authorities believe about 200 Suspects are still in the U.S. and they are thought to be planning additional attacks.

Third article:
"Some held in terror probe report rights being abused."
"Jeanne Butterfield, executive director of the American Immigration Lawyers Assn., said Washington appears to be "overreacting"."
"Hussein Sadruddin, head of a Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights in Dallas said that detainees are being target because they are Middle Easterners."
No kidding. Would he prefer that we round up Eskimos?
"And in Texas, a man from Saudi Arabia initially was denied an attorney and was deprived of a mattress, a blanket, a drinking cup and a clock."
Wow, you talk about your hard time.

are the worst people in the world... what did Shakespear say?...."the first thing we should do is kill all the lawyers"....
a sarcastic reference on how to begin destroying the liberties of the people...
Hitler said the same thing for the same reason....
I heard a cow in the field bark like a dog, therefore
all cows bark like dogs....

Gotta agree with you.  It wasn't Anglo Saxons, African Americans, or Mexican Americans that flew them jets into the buildings.  There's something to be said for profiling and one should expect it.  Certainly I'd expect to be detained and have my rights denied if I had a parked U-haul outside of a fertilizer manufacturing plant inquiring about a large amonnia fertilizer purchase.  Seems to me the same would apply for Arabics wanting to purchase oneway airline tickets.  The same would apply if I had contact with Timothy McVey or one of his associates, I'd expect to be detained.  So what makes the Arabs or more importantly, their liberal civil rights attorneys think they are any different.  This is war time, #@!* happens, and some rights are going to be violated for the benefit of the majority.  Buck up and get over it!  I wouldn't expect the Arabs to treat me any different (and probably worse) if I lived in an Arabiac country and some Anglo Saxons plowed planes into their oil fields, pryimids, or skycrapers.

a lawyer run over by a car and a snake run over by a car?

There are skid marks in front of the snake.

Since you are good guys I'll tell you about a great source of sane political news and views, unlike the stinky, biased press. (You may have heard about it though, it's not perfoct but much better than others) From it there are endless other links.
