... in response to Passport, posted by Ken2 on May 17, 2005Yes, the child will need his/her own visa. Some countries may allow the child to be listed on the parent’s passport, but it is generally better to get a separate passport for visa purposes.
The child should be listed on the same I-129F fiancée petition and it would be a good idea to include a copy of the child’s birth certificate also. When the paperwork reaches the overseas embassy, the mother and child will file separate visa applications, both will need medical exams, and depending on the child’s age, possibly police clearances. The child will be issued a K-2 visa along with the fiancée’s K-1 visa. If the child will not accompany the mother, it is still possible to get a K-2 visa up to one year after the K-1 is issued.
