Really!?!  Just 9mil.
I really wonder if that guy thinks that sales pitch will work.  I am sure he wants you to send the money first?  Or, do you meet him on a bridge have an exchange?

out of curiosity, I asked why she is worth 9 million pesos - PHILIPPINES not COLOMBIAN pesos!!  (£140,000 / $200,000)
The reply - apparently from her sister

"well Alma is very pretty , high nose asian filipina which is uniquie and kissable lips. brown complexion natural filipina beauty no make ups. and good in bed most of all."

LOL

All you came across was one of those romance scam that is common all over the world - you should have notice that.  ::)

I have received and seen plenty of these in the past, I occasionally still get & come across them. I have seen the exact same email as yours (almost word for word) - the names, amount & city were different.

One time I decided to answer a few scams emails (I knew they were scams at the time). I used one of my alternative emails I use for "junk".  I went as far as having them send me their email info and a few of them were from Latvia & Romania and not from Asia as they claimed.

It is just one of these online scams - Nigerian scam, Black money scam, Spanish prisoner, Advance fee fraud, Fifo's fee, Bona vacantia, pigeon drop, reloading scam, etc, - that is used to part folks from their money.

Some con artist "join" a website and send 100's, maybe even 1000's of the same letter/email to guys looking for a lady. The unfortunate thing is some poor soul (sucker) takes the bait and loses a ton of cash.

Also the same victims are sometimes "taken to the cleaners" twice - second time by the Refund, Rebound or recovery scam. The con-artist either sell their "victim" list or contact the same person by other means/name and say that they can recover their money for them for a fee and BOOM - they are scammed again.

There are times when common sense have/need to come into play but unfortunately (for some folks) common sense is dead.

Gentlemen...all on this board realize, MOB/bride for sale, does not exist and it is a media fabrication/term/word used by the media or feminists to degrade the men looking outside the USA for marriage.   Anytime we post articles, blogs, or even offers for this type of illegal companionship, whether it is a ruse or not, only adds fuel to the fire and sends out the wrong message about us and our intentions.

I have viewed several places like Alexa and other web stat. companies and it appears that the ladies we are courting are also, monitoring our post in this forum and probably others like them.   Obviously, the more we talk about negative aspects of relationships between foreign ladies and us the more their guard will be up as we try to approach these lovely ladies.   I agree we should educate each other on the positives and negatives of our journey, but a post reading "a Filipina for sale" is a tag line that the newspapers would use and the entire post should be removed.    I know Gato means no bad intentions by the post it is just my opinion that this is of no help to anyone and will only prop up arguments that MOB does exist, which it does not.

I have to agree that this thread should have never been made - with that title.

The OP (supposedly) came across a (potential) scam and he should have known it is a scam in the works (stuff like this is all over the internet). If you have an email account then there is a 99% chance you have come across something similar.

Why the OP posted this and gave it that title?  ::)
Well, if you have been here long enough and have read the OP's past posts/threads then you would have an idea about his intention(s).

I know I will get probably get stoned for this but Bacolod is a scam period LOL city of smiles and scams

Bacolod has had an 'iffy' rep for a long time. Sometime back, the Philippine city of Bislig became notorious  nation wide--really internationally, for the amount of girls (who were sometimes actually guys) scamming people from there. Bislig has a population of only about 100,000 people, so it was suprising the hoopla that came out of it. It was on the national news in the Philippines, pointed out as "A shame" and the govt. investigated.

It got to the point where decent girls looking for good guys on-line would give their Barangay (village) name, rather than list 'Bislig' which is the city their barangay was actually in. Just the mention of Bislig was enough to scare guys off for a while.

I'm sure there are other cities world wide that are hotbeds for scammers. Birds of a feather flock together. In turn, if you enter a city name and 'scammer' into google, various companies offer lists and for profit searches to supposedly tell you if your girl is 'clean' or not. All part of the game...
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

I am not trying to defend the place or the people there but when you make a statement like that you should  give examples or break it down.

There are over ½ million people in that city and to make a blanket statement like that (some) readers will think that the entire ½ million people are scammers, as well as all the business/stores are scammers and if you set foot there or contact someone there then that person will try to scam you or will be scam. And that city should be avoided at all cost.

While we are at the subject of scams, let me say this.
Scammers knows no race or nationality, they are in every city in every nations of the world. They have one objective - to separate you from your money.

Scam is a game in which YOU decide on whether to participate (or not).

When you are face with a situation and the matters concerns money, do not let emotions to rule over your head.

Listen to your instinct and use some common sense.

Folks, remember the words of Dryden “It is better to shun the bait than struggle in the snare”.

If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

A couple of years ago I got one of those emails that claimed I had won £10,000,000 in a British Lottery, but I had to pay a bank transfer fee of $1200 to receive the funds into my account. Knowing it was a scam, I decided to play along and replied to the email asking how I was supposed to send the funds. I emailed whoever was on the other end after 2 days and told them I had sent the money (to Nigeria for some reason...even though it was a British Lottery Jackpot  ;D ) via Western Union. I sent them a fake number and everything. A day later, the same person was emailing me saying there was no record of that wire transfer. I said it had to be a mistake and sent the person back the next day. They emailed me once again and I said the same thing. They went back for a third day...nothing. On the fourth day I received an email explaining that the Western Union was many kilometers from this persons home, and they had to take a 2 hour round trip bus to go there. So I needed to make sure the money was actually there. I guess they forgot their original cover story. I then told them I called Western Union and there had been a mistake, but they could return the next day and the money would most definitely be there. Once again, I got an email saying there was no record of the transfer. Then their tone got irate...telling me that this was a once in a life time chance and if I didn't pay in one more day they would give the jackpot to someone else. I'm not one to miss out on a chance like that...so guess what I did? I sent their dumb a$$es up there one more day to get that money.

This went on for about a week before this jacka$$ figured out I was playing games with him and finally stopped emailing me. I'm sitting here right now laughing my a$$ off as I type this. HA HA!  ;D

Bacolod?

I have known many women from Bacolod and I love them all!

They are so sweet and I just love to listen to them talking in their native tongue. The Ilonggo (or Hiligaynon) language is one of the most pleasant to the ear...

I know your story but the readers do not - unless they read the archives. And like I said in my previous post "(some) readers will think the entire..........."

You only had three women from Bacolod tried to scam you and that bitter you?

I have had more that a dozen women from one area did try something "fishy" on me.  Did that sour or bitter me? NO, I still contacted women from that same area and kept on going. I knew the risk & what I was getting into, and when I had an encounter, it was goodbye & I move along.

It is all part of the process, you have to keep on going, cast aside the glass you encounter and so you can get to the diamond. Just remember along the way that you will encounter glass that looks like a diamond.

Remember folks, when you put your info out there, you are sure to attract the good as well as the bad. And it is your mission, if you decide to accept it, to weed/filter out the bad.

When a guy see or start chatting with a beautiful face, sometimes common sense goes out the window and the person on the other end knows it and they try to take full advantage. Some of the "scammers" are not foolish, they are "more intelligent" than some of the folks they "chat" with. Why do you think they are successful!!!

There are women/people out there who knows there are "rich" guys on these "romance" site looking for a mate. So they contact/respond to as many ads as they can in the hope they can "sucker" someone into giving them money and they succeed. The bad part is some of these "women" are not actually women (but men posing as women) or they are already married or are just playing games.

To the readers, there are times when you have to think with you big head and put common sense into play  and tell the other party "sorry you are not what I am looking for" and move along.

Remember you are not scammed until you send money.

Let me just say becarefull when it comes to Bacolod.
Let me rephrase that for the readers:
"Be careful when it comes to online dating........anywhere in the world".

Scammers are in every city in every nation of the world. If someone thinks that they will get scammed in one city but not in the next, then all I have to say to them is....."A fool and his money are soon parted".

Dewey, although I am replying/quoting your post, I am not directing most of this to you. I am putting this out there for the readers who are about to take the plunge so they can learn from it and not make stupid "mistakes". I am (we are) here to educate,  pass on advice and help the readers when I (we) can.

BTW, tomorrow is the "Philippines Independence Day Parade" here in NYC and I will be out there with the family and friends.  8)

I dont remember where the lady was from But I do remember her face and conversations. I remember she lived  in a very remote area over there that she  worked for her aunt in a cafe. She was gorgeous, She wanted to leave the area but her aunt some how thought she was indebted to her - some how. But she could leave if the man was willing to pay for her. I don't remember how much it was LOL. I didn't know the conversions like I do now. But it was several thousand pesos. I quickly left that one.
