Which is your favorite radio station(s)?
« on: March 31, 2013, 08:47:38 AM »
I like to listen to live streaming radio online, especially from countries where I'd like to visit.  Any recomendations for the Philippines, of course would like to listen in English.  Stations that are availble for listen most of the day.

I think it would be a great way to learn more about the country, customs, and current events.

Thanks!

If you want to learn more, I would recommend TV (Cable & web) than radio. A lot of the music you will hear on these online radio stations are "western" music and most (not all) of the talk/news/events would be in the local/regional dialect - though there will be a few (mostly Manila/Luzon based) that will broadcast in English.

I asked my wife and these are 3 links she gave me (she had them bookmarked):

http://www.surfmusic.de/country/philippines.html

http://www.mypinoyradio.com/

http://delicast.com/radio/Philippines

The later 2 gives you a link to a station website where you can listen from there.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

In some parts of Manila the hip hop music coming from cars sounds just like Compton, with NWAs original lyrics. I remember thinking how do they get away with it, they do understand English.

The art house type movies tend to be more real in my experience then TV talk/variety shows, novellas  and Rom/Com teen movies. Many are on netflix, disc service.
