May 5th- Time to get whipped!
« on: January 11, 2012, 03:15:45 PM »
The baddest pound for pound fighter in the world, undefeated Floyd "Money" Mayweather has called out the pretender, the 3rd best fighter in the division Manny Pacquiao.

The undefeated Mayweather called out the Pac-man (who was whipped soundly in his last fight by a much better Marquez, the 2nd best fighter in the devision) tweeting "Step Up Punk"!

Bob Arum responded quickly saying that Manny would NOT fully recover from complete ass-whipping delivered by Marquez way back in November (Yeah 7 months ago!) in time for a May 5th date with Mayweather.

Huh?  Sure Bob!! ;)

Sounds like ducking!

Why, because for the last two months we all know that Manny had a rock solid scheduled fight on that EXACT date- probably a well deserved rematch with Marquez who got robbed of the win in November.

Arum later recanted (did he have a choice) and announced that a late May date "MAY BE WORKABLE", or sometime in June (after Mayweather reports to jail?).

Now the ball is in Pacquiao's court.

I think I smell chicken!

The ability of two men to stand toe to toe and pummel each other into insensibility ... is what separates us from the animals.

Floyd Mayweather is a manufactured fraud, a coward who is unworthy of being marketed and promoted as a premium sports attraction.
Yep, once again the kfc & I were right all along and zkg can eat crow.     Undefeated because he will only fight pussies...     ROFLMAO!

Mayweather is one of the greatest defensive fighters ever IN the ring and he's shown tremendous hand speed. However, speaking of 'defensive' --he's repeatedly dodged dangerous contenders, fighters that a greater fighter would have fought. If the heat was too high, he strategically 'retired'.

If you watch his first fight against Castillo, it's incredible that the three judges said he won--but that's boxing for you. In the second fight, Mayweather really DID beat Castillo convincingly, no one can deny that--but the first time, the judges were as crooked as wrenches. Don't just take my word, watch the video.

Mayweather is an artful dodger and like Pacquiao, who's presently a congresman in the Philippines (and considered a future contender for the presidency there) based on the way he talks, Mayweather also shows a lot of promise as a possible politician--he can really talk out of both sides of his mouth. He and Charles Barkley should run on the same ticket!

If after Mayweather serves his jail sentence this summer, if he STILL refuses to fight Pacquiao and then retires and tries to claim he was 'undefeated'--his legacy will be tarnished, to put it mildly. He will have to live the rest of his life hearing whispers (or worse) that he wasn't a 'true' champion, that he was a chicken, a coward and that he let the fans and boxing as a sport down.

Not that he seems to really care.

Mayweather really pales in comparison the the late, undefeated heavy weight champion, Rocky Marciano. Marciano's pro career record was a true 49 and 0, with 43 KO's. He was a 6&1/2 to 5 underdog against Joe Louis and won, beating Louis It was a bittersweet win as Louis, then 37 y/o, was Marciano's childhood idol. Marciano was 27 y/o at the time.

Marciano went on to knock out Jersey Joe Walcott to become world champion, then knocked him out again, the second time in the first round. Marciano fought a a very able Ezzard Charles twice and Ezzard Charles was the only fighter in Marciano's 49 fight pro careeer to last 15 rounds with him.

Nobody ever accused Marciano of ducking anybody and he took some tough licks, including losses, as an amateur.

The 'sweet science' was a different sport then,--it was simpler, without all the various divisions with their hodgepodge of multiple titles and various 'sanctioning authorites'  for the same weight classes like you have today.

If Mayweather had fought in those days and not defended his title against the leading contender, he would have been stripped of his title and likely been branded a coward.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Pacquiao Retiring??

God told me to retire - Pacquiao

Manila Times
3/19/12

MANILA, March 19, 2012 (AFP) - Philippine boxing hero Manny Pacquiao said on Monday that he had been told by God in a dream to retire soon, potentially raising doubt over hopes of a fight with American Floyd Mayweather.

Pacquiao, regarded as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter, told radio station DZMM in an interview also broadcast over the channel's Teleradyo TV show, that he had decided to give up all his vices after the dream.

"I will not stay long in boxing because he said: 'You have done enough. You have made yourself famous but this is harmful,'" said a serious-looking Pacquiao, who has won eight titles in as many weight divisions.

Pacquiao, 33, said he had the dream earlier this year but declined to reveal how many more fights he would contest before stepping down.

But when asked if his new-found religious fervour would hurt his boxing, Pacquiao replied: "I will do my work inside the ring."

The boxer, who has translated his sports fame into huge riches, a showbiz career and election to parliament, said he believed he had been chosen by God to use his fame to spread the Christian message.

"When I speak, a lot of people listen," he said.

He said he would make a major announcement on a religious note later this month.

Pacquiao, who has a 54-3 win-loss record with two draws, stakes his World Boxing Organisation welterweight crown against undefeated American Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas on June 9.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have never had a fight and boxing fans have long sought a matchup. The pair were in negotiations for a mega-fight to be held later this year but talks fell through.

Formerly a heavy gambler who was fond of late-night parties, Pacquiao announced in January that he had become a changed man after his religious vision.

Pacquiao's a lot better of listening to God than to Bob Arum. If it wasn't for Arum, Pacquiao would probably have already lined up a fight with Mayweather, in my opinion.

Arum just wants Pacquiao to go against fighters in the Arum camp--as if he hasn't made more millions than he could spend already--he still wants a cut from both sides. He's just a more polished version of Don King.....

Pacquiao's loyal to a fault when it comes to listening to his 'advisors', and Arum to Pacquiao is like the Colonel was to Elvis.....
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!
