Hi jon,

Aren't you the guy who used to post under username "jon"? Yes, it has been a long time. I’m glad to hear that your marriage is still thriving.

Yeah, just about everyone married to a Filipina has probably at least a half-dozen relatives or friends of the wife back home that are bugging us to fix them up with a nice American guy. Unfortunately, that’s about the only practical way for most all of these young ladies to have an opportunity to immigrate here to the USA.

My wife and I get a lot of those requests also and the ladies would be really good catches for any decent guy. The big problem is that if and when the guys we set them up with turn out to be dickheads or procrastinators like the guy who broke your sis’s heart, who do you think will get the blame? US of course! That’s the main reason why I hate to make an attempt to play matchmaker with these ladies. Even if you make it abundantly and repeatedly clear that you can’t vouch for the guy’s character and you are ONLY introducing him to her, you will still get blamed when it doesn’t work out for whatever reason, so be very careful.

Introducing her to a virtual stranger who you met on the Internet is even more risky. Are you going to ask the dude to submit to a background investigation before you give him the contact info for your sis? Does he have to answer a bunch of personal questions and provide you with documentation of any criminal/arrest records and complete copies of all divorce court records, similar to the marriage broker requirements under IMBRA?

Since you said that she is only 23 years old and had her broken just recently, I would probably advise the young lady to wait a while and be very careful before starting up another long-distance relationship with a virtual stranger.

Here’s an idea for you to think about. Why don’t you invite your sister to come join the forum here and you could introduce her. We already know a little about her from your post and pics. The guys and gals here on the forum are mostly all very nice folks who are here to give her sound advice and help since most of us have already gone through or are going through the same type of thing that she is interested in.

And you never know, perhaps she might even meet a nice guy right here on the forum. It has happened before you know. And that way you wouldn’t have to take all of the blame when she ends up with another guy who wastes another year of her time…  ;)

And we could all benefit from the perspective and opinions of another Filipina lady on the forum.

Either way, don’t be a stranger here jon.

Ray

Good to have to back here, Jon. Lovely lady there and I definitely hear Ray's comments on matchmaking's pitfalls. I'd recommend taking that to heart and exercising due caution. Other sage veterans here, such as Dave H, have expressed similar reservations.

Some guys here in the past have contacted me, asking if my wife had any available cousins or if I knew any women I could hook them up with. There are some guys here who as far as I can tell, seem decent, (on the internet, nobody knows you're REALLY just a dog) but typically the guys who asked me to help match them up were a bit creepy--more like the 'rent to own' kinda crowd--maybe it can be done and I guess the odds are better here for the gals than they are on the mega sites--but be careful!.... ::)

PS--Look out for characters like these two: ;D

Hi Jon, if you are still browsing on her behalf, feel free to backchannel me or email at doglover_50@hotmail.com.

I'm 42 and a university professor with lots of friends, colleagues, and family who could vouch for me. Anyhow, give me a holler if you like, I've been on the site for a few months now.

Nice pictures!

Its very difficult to match make, I have been asked to introduce single pinays I met to friends, I've declined.

Maybe your solicitations here will bear fruit, good luck.

doglover_50, it would be best if you send your email account to Jon via a pm - not wise to put it in the open.

Hello everyone. I dont think im the same jon that you all remember, for the life of me i cant remember my old nick. Alot of people on here were here ten years ago though and i did get alot of help here.
Im not worried about getting any blame if things dont work out for her because shes just not like that at all. I have to say i got extremely lucky meeting my wife as she comes from a very good family and all of her sisters are extremely good people. One of her sisters is from california married to a kano for the last 20 years another of her sisters has been married 15 to her husband in alberta canada. And she has another sister married to a well to do filipino overseas worker and then theres mariz, who never met the aussie n person but got stood up after a year of devotion to him and all the fake promises. And one more sister who is almost 18. Mariz is just so crushed by the aussie is why im trying any avenue and i thought this was a good place to start. I wish i knew someone in person i could hook her up with but all my friends are pretty much married. But i know there are guys on here searching for a good one and i guarantee mariz is a prize catch.
Thx to everyone for the warm welcome, good to be back!

Hi, this is me Mariz. I'm just new at this site, so i need to learn what to do  :) . So, i'll start!!!

About me, Im Mariz, Single. No children.I am the 5th child of 6 girls. 4 of my older sisters are married. I have 7 nieces. I am down to earth, shy, petite, loving, caring, easy to be with, have a sense of humor and a God fearing person. I studied nursing for 2 years then as a Medical Transcriptionist for 6 months. As of now, Im taking up Bachelor of Elementary Education, I'm in my 2nd year college. I belong to a Youth Group in our area. On my free days, I usually hang out with our youngest sister and cousins. I occasionally drink and don't smoke. For me, outside appearance is not important its what inside that counts. If you want to know more about me, Dont hesitate to drop me an email.
A smile of encouragement at the right moment may act like sunlight on a closed-up flower; it may be the turning point for a struggling life. :-) :-)

Hi Mariz,
          Welcolm to P-L.

You are a very pretty lady and you will find what you are looking for - most of us here have. Be a little patient and pick the good from the bad.

I have been to Lapu-Lapu City but not to Talisay City but my wife do have family members (in-laws) in the area.

Enjoy your stay at the Planet and if you have a question(s) do not hesitate to ask, the answers may not come right away as there is a big time difference between our countries (13 hours to be exact) but they will come.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?
