Short of staying at a hotel that has hot water does anyone know of any places in Cartagena where one can go to take a freaking hot shower?   ???

hehehe, OrlandoGringo are there many places anywhere in Colombia to find a hot shower? Last year I stayed with my wife's family in Bogota and it took a fews days to thaw out when we returned. Hot water is pretty much a luxury there.

For a while I thought that everyone in Colombia had hot water - it wasn't until much later that I discovered this was far from the case.

Yet another thing the Philippines has in common with S.A. apparently. In most places in the Philippines, hot showers aren't found. Even in mid range hotels in the bigger cities, you may have to sometimes tell them to 'fire up' an auxiliary water heater, because you want to take what might be a warm more than truly hot shower and a short one at that.

Then again, those early morning, ice cold showers out in there in the boondocks really wake you up more than any hot cup of coffee ever could!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

The hot shower I took when I got back home from Colombia was heaven!

Interesting and good to know that hot water is a luxury in Colombia, have proper expectations. Good thing is my body adjusted to the colder water after a few minutes in the shower. Probably a little more than anyone cared to know about my shower experience.....jejejeje ;)

The shower I had in Colombia was warm at best.
So let mercy come and wash away, what I've done

Man, I guess for those staying in and around Cartagena and BAQ where its already hotter than hell anyway, maybe don't need the hot water? **shrug** When I started looking at places to stay for my first trip to Medellin, I found agua caliente to be an advertising point in a few of the hotels. I thought that was kind of humorous. So I asked Glory to make sure the place she reserved for me had it. Turns out the apartamento in Laureles for my first trip had one of those cool tankless water heaters; and it worked great.

I stayed two nights at a hotel in Cartagena earlier this month.   The shower was lukewarm at best.

i reaally don't enjoy cold showers and will probably never get used to them  so even if the weather is warm i want the shower to be at a minimum luke-warm...

My fiance laughs at me for acting like such a panzy when it comes to the "cold" water from the shower.  She says it's normal.  I say it's freaking cold!  I guess that's the trade off for staying in a cheap hotel.

I'm going down in June for a week and am taking my eight year-old son with me.  We're staying at the Hilton for that one!  Their showers are toasty hot!

They're raised to be tough in SA, at least in regards to cold showers.  My Peruvian wife can handle it because she's used to it.  She didn't grow up with a hot water heater, and in fact the water service in her part of the city is only for part of the day.  You just have to get psyched before you step under the water.

i think my woman also thinks i'm a wuss with the warm water...with our little infant boy, she was using water that I thought was too cold for him when we bathed him...so i've been gradually warming it up little by little...his little chubby face is quite adorable in his warm water bath, but he also seemed happy when the water was barely luke-warm too.

So I guess it would be safe to assume that women in SA know about shrinkage...hehehe..I was in the pool! I was in the pool!

hey nc, there may come a time when her cold shower coping skills willl be necessary here in the USA as well, I would think that hot showers would be a part of the cuts our society will need to make someday in the distant future, just like most of the rest of the world...but I sure hope not!
