JAXPAUL Barranquilla Trip Report Feb/Mar 2011
« on: April 03, 2011, 12:36:37 AM »
Hey fellas, I've been back couple of weeks now but I have been real busy so I haven't had the time to do this trip report.  Anyways, I started knocking out it today and man it started getting real long and I was only on day 3 and then I started get my days and other things all mixed up so I just stopped.  So....I think instead I will just answer anyone who has any questions for me.  Here's a rundown without being too specific about each date (Cita) and day...

I had a GREAT GREAT time! I used Jaimes agency and stayed at his place for about 12 days.  The first 3 days I used an interpreter and the rest I was on my own.  I got to experience all of Carnivale and also went to Cartagena for 4 days. I got along fine with my decent Spanish while on my trip but I'll tell ya, speaking Spanish was work!   :o

Jaimes agency was a success as I had plenty of CITAS to the point where I canceled some initial into’s and 2nd dates because I was burnt out!  I had the pleasure of dating some very attractive women through the agency and a couple outside of the agency and I made lots of new friends. When it got down to it I was in way over my head as I was trying to pretty much balance my time between 3 or 4 women towards the end of my trip.  I probably could have continued with the madness LOL.... but it would have required lies and deceit and I just didn't have it in me to continue to do that.  I say that because if you are having success w/ the agency, dating several women at one time is what you end up finding yourself doing.  It's part of the process and comes with using an agency depending on the guy I assume.  Anyways, I threw in the towel and spent my last few days with my favorite chica who I'll call Feisty.

I spent LOTS of money, most of which was on eating out!  Pretty much every day I was there I was eating my meals with at least one other person sometimes 2.  Those first 3 days I had a lot of dates plus interpreter that I had to pay for.  Later it was me and my Chica Casa Bonitas going for lunch, dinner, clubbing, movies, ice cream, chilling in the room with some pizza, ect. ect. I'll tell ya, that added up!!  I spent the least amount of money while in Cartagena for 4 days and Cartagena is expensive!  Why, cause my Feisty cooked our meals the whole time we were there.  I think we went out to eat one night and caught some lunch on our way back to Barranquilla.  Most of all, as far as I'm concerned I did NOT see a big difference in the price at the numerous restaurants I ate at and the supermarkets I bought groceries at compared to USA!   I don't know how the Colombian people make it on those prices!

I didn't have any problems while I was there and pretty much felt safe.  Thank you guys for posting the couple of recent tragedies that occurred in Barranquilla and Medellin.  Very sad stuff but gave me a serious reminder that I needed to be on my toes and take precautions.  Prior to reading that I was having a good ol time, hanging out drinking in bars just like the one where that woman was killed in BQ.  So, it just made me refresh a bit and not get too comfortable.  The craziest thing I seen was an old man coming up to me asking for money.  He looked and was dressed (hardly nothing) like an aboriginal and his wanker was so big it looked like he had a 3rd leg!  Seriously…  LOL..

Carnivale was a good time and it too was very expensive! Cartagena was beautiful and I should have gone there earlier in my trip.  I spent too much time in Barranquilla but that also had to do with all my damn CITAS! I never made it to Santa Marta where I had an apartment waiting for me at no cost!  By the time I was done with Cartagena, I was tired out and just stayed with Feisty at her apartment for the last 2 days I was there.  Plus I had spent way over my planned budget!
My highlights were getting to see Tito Nieves, Elvis Crespo and Grupo Niche live, up close and in person!  That was awesome and I was not expecting that.  Meeting and dating some very attractive women was definitely nice and for the first 3 days definitely had the "Rock Star" feeling going on.  Only thing with me is I got tired of the process rather quickly and it started to become stressful trying to pick and choose and then kind of lie and cheat!  :)  If I was 15 years younger, shoot....I would have been dating 10 of em at the same time!!!  LOL...

Some things I would have done differently?

-  Well I don't forsee me spending that much money ever again.  I dropped about 5k when it was all said and done. I definitely learned some things and would do some things differently when it comes to spending.

-  I would have spaced out my 2nd and 3rd dates more.  In other words, I would have set up dates maybe 5 to 7 days out instead of everyday, back to back for the first 4 or 5 days. That way I could focus on 2 maybe three 3 women for about a week and then if I wanted I follow through with those pre-set CITAS or cancel them if I needed to.  Instead, I just stopped seeing girls after my 2nd, 3rd or 4th dates because I was tired and/or I was starting to get some pressure from a couple of my favorites.  They know what's going on and after the 3rd or 4th date w/ them they want to see you every day and when they don't, they know it’s because you’re on a CITA with someone else! Even though my Feisty is a great gal, I found myself regretting not continuing to date 2 or 3 of my other chicas.  ALSO, my beautiful loving Feisty got a hold of my notes with all my favorite chicas numbers and emails written down and conveniently left them out of my bag upon departure.  I was a bit upset at first but then I thought well [snip]…what did I expect for her to do?  She had asked me about them earlier and I played it off like they were no longer important or needed so she kindly disposed of them for me! LOL…  I would like to ask Jaime for a few of my favorite chicas numbers again since Feisty threw them out but not sure he would do it because he’s kind of different like that.

- Traveling all through the night (Denver, Houston, Bogota, Barranquilla) took a lot out of me!  I have traveled the world but for some reason, that overnight trip kicked my butte!  I was dragging for the first 3 or 4 days and I think that contributed to me getting burned out so quickly with all the CITAS!  I mean, I got to Jaimes about 0930 and had my first group intro at about 1030 and from then on it was crazy hectic!  So if you can try not to do the all night travel plan.  LOL...

My GWIZ to pass along:

- Being able to speak Spanish is almost a must.  Like I said, I can speak it decently and understand most of it but it was still hard for me.  It was frustrating at times and I have plenty of funnies that occurred due to mis-communiction with my chicas or others while speaking Spanish.

-  Dancing!  These women love to dance and if you can dance or are open to learning and/or trying then that will definitely increase your odds.  I loved watching my chicas dance and I enjoyed being at the clubs/bars just chilling and watching others dance. But no doubt my ability to dance was a huge positive for me and I'm no Rico Suave on the dance floor!  It's in their blood and even the little ones can dance very well at an early age!

- If you have some looks and some GAME then you will have no problems at all! You will have plenty of dates from the agency and you will be able to meet girls at the bars, clubs, mall, supermarkets ect...  I know some on here don’t like the word “Game” because this a marriage site but I’m going to call it how I see it and I don’t know any other way to explain “Game.”  I dressed well, was clean cut, made them laugh, was respectful, tried to appear confidant even when I maybe wasn't and I was able to speak the language.  These are the reasons why I believe I was able to hit it off the way I did.  I'm not being arrogant or cocky, just keeping it real. Now not everyone is the same, but it's my opinion that if you are at least well groomed, dressed nicely, have a sense of humor, and like to dance or willing to try then these things can make up for the language barrier among other things.  Now being Latino myself I'm sure helped me blend in a little easier.  I mean, I rocked my Nike gear (shorts & tennis) plenty of days while I was there and no one looked at me funny and my chicas were digging it.  I did this after being there a few days and sweating my bootah off wearing jeans everyday!  I cannot believe everyone wears jeans over there as hot as it is!  LOL...Not me...I hardly wear jeans in the states so I broke out da chorts and my tennis!!!  Also, being Latino isn’t always an advantage because some Colombianas prefer white, blonde, blue eyed men. As for the brothas, well being half black myself I seen and heard some things that I didn’t particularly like.  You can’t really tell that I am half black so maybe thats why things were said but yea…if any brothas on here need would like more info on that let me know.

- These women did not come off as desperate to me.  They had an idea of what they were looking for and are just not going to agree to meet you just to meet you.  Also, many do not like the group introductions and prefer the one on ones especially the more mature, more experienced women.  In my case, the women looked even better in person then they did in their profile pictures.  MOST of my intro's I did not even recognize as my picks when meeting them in person and that was a good thing! As for the younger girls (19-23) I had more fun when hanging out with them.  I already knew that the age difference isn't too big of a deal with Colombianas from my experience dating them in Italy however, that was when I was in my late 20's, early 30's.  Now I'm 39 but I still didn't see my age being a problem. Out my top 6 women, 2 were in early 30's, 3 were between 22 and 23 and Feisty is 25.  I went out on multiple dates with an 19 year old and 20 year old and had fun with both and I could have kept dating them but their age was a long term problem for me so I kinda let it go.  But no doubt the girls in their early 20's were much more fun and outgoing then the 2 in their 30's. My two favorites in their 30's were very, very pretty but Feisty was HOT and Sexy and made me feel like a million bucks!  The older gals were more work and I felt like I had to please them instead of them wanting to please me.  They still had it going on though, but I had to decide in the end and Feisty had the whole package!   ;D

- Dudes that use the agency for a week or so and come back committed without being intimate I hope it's because they wanted it that way.  What I am trying to say is, if the girl is only willing to give you a kiss after spending a week with her then that's whack UNLESS of course that's what you wanted to happen (Religious beliefs for example).  I'm not sure how to spell it out without it coming across the wrong way.  What I'm trying to say is that after the 2nd or 3rd date, the women I had the pleasure of getting to know were open to being intimate. If they are into you, they will let you know and it doesn't take 4 or 5 dates or a week and another trip to Colombia for that to happen. These girls were cool and if I didn't have anything going on late at night (10/11 pm) I would give them a call and they would jump in a taxi and come visit for awhile.  We would have some drinks, eat, watch a movie, dance to my itunes, whatever just hanging out having fun late at night.  No CITA required!!!     ;)

As for Jaimes services, he does an excellent job.  Few things I would do differently if I was him but for the most part he runs a First Class Agency and I highly recommend it for those making their first trip to Colombia and wanting to go to Barranquilla!  The one thing I will tell you is that after being there for over 2 weeks and experiencing Barranquilla and it's malls/clubs/bars/ ect... as well as Carnivale and Cartagena, the women on Jaimes site are probably anywhere from 5 to 8's on the beauty scale with an occasional 9.  Now don't get me wrong, these 6 and 7's still look good and I think I had the pleasure of dating a couple of 8's and 9's BUT fellas........when I was out and about at the malls, clubs and Carnivale....wowzas, there were 9's and 10's everywhere! The girl I dated for a few days that I met working at a clothing store in the mall was easily a 9 and her friends were 8's and 9's!  The festival/club I went to during Carnivale at one of the malls had GORGEOUS women EVERYWHERE!  I had been there a week and had numerous dates already and when I seen these women at the club, I thought shoot.... I haven’t seen anything yet!  My mind was blown away!!! I had Feisty on my hip looking good her damn self but I know she even noticed all the beautiful women everywhere.  You'll notice that when you go to Colombia, the women check each other out just as much as the men check them out.  Anyways, so if Jaime can tap into more of those 8, 9 and 10’s around there his agency would be even better.  I still can't get that night out of my mind and it's probably my # 1 reason for looking forward to my next trip to Colombia! Even in Bogota I consistently seen 8 and 9’s with some 10’s up and down that airport!

I lucked out in so many ways.  I went at a great time (Carnivale) and met some great gals.  My male interpreter, who I’ll call G, ended up being a great friend to me.  He was fired after my first 3 days and I’m not entirely sure why but we continued to hang out the entire time I was there.  He introduced me to many of his friends and girlfriends, took me to his hangout’s and we had some great times BBQ’ing and partying it up at his swimming pool. The job he did while with me those first 3 days has A LOT to do with why I gave Jaimes agency such high marks in the first place!  G was excellent at his job and it’s too bad he was let go.

Alright…I’ll stop there. That ended up being kind of long anyways.  I'm open to any questions and willing to provide any guidance.  Hope I didn’t come off as cocky or as a know it all.  I’m just sharing my experience and being 100% honest while doing so.  I know Jaime checks this site out as do some of the other guys that were there the same time as me or came shortly after me, so I have nothing to hide.

JAX Paul Out!

Great report JAX, many thanks for being so candid and forthcoming. I'm curious if you might have been tired the first few days because of the climate change? I remember coming from to BAQ from Baltimore a couple years ago in December when the temperature in Baltimore was in the low teen's F. The heat and humidity in BAQ seemed downright intense at first but then I got used to it and liked it after that. Like you I switched to shorts and sandals, too, good move, and I didn't notice anyone looking at me funny because of how I was dressed.
If you are unhappy change something. Quit your job. Move. Leave your miserable relationship. Stop making excuses. You are in control.

That was a reallly excellent trip report Jaxpaul.  It appears you liked staying at Jamie’s but thought he should have more 9’s and 10’s amongst his gals.  Did you meet the girl ‘Feisty’ while dancing at a club or through his agency?

It sounds like you did a lot of things right during your trip and meeting so many women was pretty overwhelming for me too during that 3 day intro period.  Just like you, I arrived and within an hour or two I was already having group meetings.

I think I was 37 or 38 when I first used jamie’s agency and like you I felt I had a reasonable shot with practically anybody on the website, that may not have actually been the case but it seemed that way.   If your current lady is 25 and you are 39, that seems like a nice large age gap. A good aspect of her being 25 usually means she is not totally super young and immature, which is good.

When do you think you are going back?  What is your plan?

Thanks again for the report!

Thanks for the report. Sounds as if you had a geat tme and yes, as FT and Whiitey both know......Baranquilla is a cty full of beautiful women.

But carnevali is the MOST expesnive time of the year for any foreigner in Baranquilla and I always make sure that Im OUT of baranquilla during Carneval.............

Staying at an agency lodging and dating agency women is usually the most expensive way for a foreigner to date Colombian women.  If I recalll Jamie charges a  hundred a night for a room after the initial package. The next time you come to baranqilla, you can spend 35 or 40 with brekfast included in a good hotel not far away from Jamie s house and agency.

I m heading to Baranqulla today and will be there tonight.

holy s****, how the hell did you spend over five grand on one trip???? I don't think I've ever spent two grand on a single trip and that was staying in a five start hotel in Medellin!  Just curious as I have always heard that Barranquilla was much cheaper to visit than Bogota or Medellin. Thanks for the trip report, really enjoyed it.

Yes great report. 5K is definately more than a drop in the bucket. What part of that would you say went to the agency including lodging, translater and maybe airport pick up etc. and what part went to your "on your own" costs?

JAX,

Great Report man, tkx a mil for sharing it.  I'm as stunned as the rest of the guys here when you say >5K  :o spent in the trip and that for you eating out was as expensive as in the states.  Did you go to places recommended by Jamies or where the ladies were the place choosers?

As for the brothas, well being half black myself I seen and heard some things that I didn’t particularly like.  You can’t really tell that I am half black so maybe thats why things were said but yea…if any brothas on here need would like more info on that let me know.

Well I am black so yes I am interested in more info if you have...  If you don't want to share it in public just PM me.  Tkx

Thanks everyone for your replies.  PChip I'll hit you up or I may just post it. Not a real big deal, just some things I noticed.

My bad fellas, I should have clarified a bit more on the cost.  The 5k was for the whole trip to include the $2500 on flight and agency.  I spent about $2400 while in Colombia for 16 days.  My biggest costs were $200 I spent for concert tix to see Tito, Elvis and Grupo.  While at the concert I bought a binchey bottle of Vodka for $120 and a platter of food for about $40 plus the orange soda to go w/ the Vodka.  I dropped about $380 on the concert alone but as they say....priceless!  I had a great time that night and seeing Tito Nieves and Grupo Niche in concert was something I always wanted to do.

Another big expense was the $120 I spent to get into the festival/concert at the club in the mall.  Yea, that was ridiculous and this was the first time I had to have a quick chat with Feisty because I was not expecting that.  Once inside it was so overly packed that you couldn't move, dance or even get a damn drink!  I was pissed!  The only place that had some room to have fun was upstairs in the VIP and they wanted another $50 to go up there.  We stayed a little over an hour and started heading for the door.  As we were leaving one of her (HOT) friends seen her and told us to join them up in the VIP for free but I wasn't interested, just way too many people and I was ready to roll.  She knew I was upset but I was more pissed at the club for charging outrageously for entry only to be treated like animals once inside.  It's cool though; we went to a bar/grill for a few drinks and a late night steak & fries.

***AND....that club is where I seen all those BEAUTIFUL women!  EVERYWHERE!  STUNNERS!

Cartagena:  I spent $240 for 3 nights in a beautiful condo overlooking the ocean.  We spent the day at one of the Islands which ran me about $160. I spent $100 on groceries but she tore it up in the kitchen for 3 days.  Did some gift shopping for the family back home and spent about $150.  Definitely wasn’t cheap but Cartagena with a lovely Colombiana in my arms, nice!

Restaurants:  I ate at regular places, nothing too fancy.  Regular spots in the mall and other restaurants that my interpreters recommended or my dates would recommend.  My dates were often times so shy that they didn't want to eat too much anyways and would pick simple places like the crepes/waffle joint. I did take Feisty, my girl from clothing store (Hotness) and the two older, more elegant women that I was dating to some nicer places to eat but those were my FINAL FOUR and so I had no problem wining and dining them on occasion.

Taxis: The taxis were very inexpensive and very convenient.  One day I hung out with G all day and we started drinking early.  So I was back at the casa early that night.  It was about 11 and I called to say goodnight to Hotness and she was like are you hungry?  Do you want me to bring you some Lasagna?  I was like nah....it's too late for you to come out just to bring me some food!  LOL...she was like...huh? She said I know it's too late Papi, I'm not going over the Lasagna is!  LOL....I was like huh....I still wasn't getting it.  She said, just be ready to pay the taxi a few pesos when he gets there.  Sure enough, 15 minutes later the buzzer rings and it's a taxi with my nicely wrapped Lasagna and fresh bread!  Hahaha....costs me 5000 pesos…only in Colombia!  :)

Sticking with one chick, JaxPaul24? Be careful or Researcher will label you a one hit wonder.

Haha...I tried and it wasn't easy.  I'm sure I left some pissed off women in the end and they are probably still trying to figure out what the heck happen to me, to us.  That's why I need those numbers and emails.  I got "sum splaining" to do with a few of them...   I think I found Hotness on Facebook but I need to figure what I’m going to say to her.    ;D

But carnevali is the MOST expesnive time of the year for any foreigner in Baranquilla and I always make sure that Im OUT of baranquilla during Carneval.............

Definitely Dennis, I'm sure it will be much cheaper next go around w/ plenty of Hotels that would cost much less.  I can also stay with Feisty if that's the route I continue with.  G has a pretty nice place too and he would welcome me in a heartbeat.  Most of all, we got my buddy's apartment in Santa Marta and that's where I will spend most of my time the next go around.

As for Carnivale, no doubt that was expensive but you know how it is...that was something ya got to experience at least once.  Plus like I said above, if I use those options Carnivale can still be enjoyed without being so expensive.

That was a reallly excellent trip report Jaxpaul.  It appears you liked staying at Jamie’s but thought he should have more 9’s and 10’s amongst his gals.  Did you meet the girl ‘Feisty’ while dancing at a club or through his agency?

Right on Fathertime!  I must say man, your past trip reports are CLASSIC! You had my a** rolling with the way you typed them up and kept it real!  I enjoyed reading your trip reports the most!

Yea man, I'm sure there is a cutoff on the age at some point but like you said and I agree most of the girls I met age wasn't a factor.  I'm sure it would be different if they had to take me to introduce me to mom and dad and maybe they aren't really thinking about that yet, in fact I know they aren’t thinking that far ahead.  As far as hanging out, having fun, getting to know an older man they are definitely open to that if they are attracted to you.

As for the quality of women at the agency...every one of them that I met (around 30 to 35 women) appeared to be a sweetheart.  They were all very sincere and left me with good impressions of them.  As for looks, no doubt they were all pretty with a few really good looking.  Everyone I met I would hang out with here in the states, but then again I live in a Midwest town of 20,000 people.  As for novia, marriage material?  I saw more beautiful women out and about then I seen at the agency.  So 5-8's in my opinion, Jaime needs more of those 8-10's!

Feisty was actually the first girl I met, she was with the interpreter (Female) when they picked me up from the airport.  She was a nice surprise but I didn't recognize her at all.  She was looking good and I was checking out the done up nails, toes and nice white teeth!  It sucked because I was ready for a shower and bed and here I was with this beautiful girl in the back of taxi!  Feisty used to be a Television Entertainment reporter.  She used to interview a lot of who’s who in the music and entertainment industry for a local TV station where's she originally from.  I seen it w/ my own eyes having met lots of people she knew when were out and about as well as getting to see all her Facebook photos.  The condo we stayed at in Cartagena was one floor up from her best friend who is married to a guy from the Netherlands.  We hung out with them a couple of nights while we were there, very nice couple and well to do.  Anyways, she now owns her own SPA and has her own place.  This was a huge plus because she was able to get away from work pretty easily because it was her business.  For being 25, she carried herself very confidently and was very independent.  I seriously got compliments on her everywhere we went.  It’s just the way she talks to people, very caring and very sweet personality.  When I was leaving, the same taxi driver that picked me up from the airport, picked me up from Feisty's to take me back to the airport.  He was smiling and glad to see that her and I ended up together.  He just thought she was just the sweetest girl from the time he got to visit with her on that very first day picking me up from the airport.  I was just like wow, I’ve been hearing that my whole time with her.  The compliments sound so much better in Spanish but harder to explain in English.  So yea, my Feisty was a real sweetie with a great personality!  I called her Feisty because she had some spunk to her; very sexy girl that didn’t take no crap from me but yet was a real sweetheart!  She has killer body, especially thigh, legs and bootah!  My 3 favorites!  We butted heads every now and then because she’s so used to being on her own and taking care of herself.  So yea, chalk me up as one of the guys that ended up hitting it off with the very first girl he met in Colombia!

As for my plan?  I want to go back as soon as possible, probably June.  I keep in touch with Feisty almost daily and I do miss her but I’m being real careful not to give her that full commitment as of now and she hasn’t put any pressure on me to do so.  I really think I need to go back another time or two so I make sure not to sell myself short.  This trip was hetic and became a bit stressful at times with all the women that I finally just gave in and settled down with the girl I was digging the most.  BUT she was GREAT and may end up being the one, I just need to make sure!

Ya know Andy, it might have been the weather too.  When I left my home, I left during a blizzard!  I also noticed it in the photos I took during my first week there.  My eyes had dark circles underneath them and I was like damn, I'm starting to look old!  Then by the second week those dark circles started to fade away so no doubt both the overnight trip with minimal sleep and the drastic change in weather had a big effect on me for the first few days I was there.

Of course you are implying that I have not done well nor has Whitey among others. If you think I am the kind of guy who is afraid to talk to women, you are so off base it's ridiculous.

Well Jax, I'm glad you enjoyed those reports from all those years ago, I reread them myself and I'm not exactly the same type of man I was 5-6 years ago!

Oh man your woman sounds so darn cute!  Your 3 favorites are mine too, I'm dying to  see a pic of this lady-goddess  of yours now!

It is a good idea to get back there as soon as possible.  My wife and I were on the webcam daily between my first and second trip, which were about 6 weeks apart if I remember right.  Man o man,  me and my boner were so damn happy to be back in Barranquilla!  We went to Cartagena for about a week and it was like John and Yoko's bed in for peace! We barely left the room!

Well Colando, given your age and that fact that this new world has opened up to you, you might consider going a whole bunch of times before actually committing to any one particular woman.
I read the book War and Peace by Tolstoy, and I remember early in the book the sentiment was to only get married:
'when you are completely worn out and worthless and seeing women is no longer fun, when you have sewn all your oats and are completely broke and are on your last legs of being able to attract a suitable woman.'
That is not an exact quote but it does depict the sentiment, and it is something to at least consider!  For a young guy like yourself, you have plenty of time to enjoy the samples a bit that way you will have experienced what all your options were and make a more informed choice.  :D
