Fuel surcharge prices are going up again ~ some are minimal & some are huge. Not just for one airlines but quite a few are doing it.
American Airlines: from $4 to $10 domestically, $22 to Canada and $21 to Hawaii. International locations varies.
United/Continental, Delta, US Airways, JetBlue, Alaska, AirTran and WestJet all have a similar increase.
Cathay Pacific: $21 to $25 (Short haul) and $96 to $113 (long haul).
Air Canada: between Vancouver -London Heathrow it went from $290 to $410 for economy & to $642 for Business.
Some airlines have already added the change while some just announced it.
When you do a booking, check to see how much is the fuel surcharge, it could be high especially if it is long haul.
On a different note ~ if you bought a ticket on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic in the U.S. or in the U.K. between 11 August 2004 and 23 March 2006, you may be entitled to a partial refund of the fuel surcharge.
