Soldier off to war - return to find his house stolen!!
« on: January 19, 2011, 12:14:41 PM »
An older story but worth commenting about.
A soldier went to war in Iraq & return to find that his house have been sold off by his homeowners' association.

I read the update on VJ that the man have gotten his house back & plan to move to Virginia.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

Unfortunate - but then again it is pretty damn hard to find sympathy for someone who was given a $300,000 home as a gift and then is too damn lazy to pay their $800/year HOA fee. The wife claimed that she was too depressed to open her mail for an entire year thereby missing all the overdue & foreclosure notices!!?? My goodness - whatever happened to personal responsibility in this country!!???

It was his home, but I wonder if it was really his house.  That could be an issue if his in-laws put it in his wife's name only.  I blame his worthless wife.  Irresponsible twit.

Re:

>>then is too damn lazy to pay their $800/year HOA fee.<<

I missed two months (sick parents, travel, holidays, etc) of my homeowner's 'amenity fee' and as the third month approached, just after the New Year, they sent me a letter with bright red ink, demanding I pay the due amount, plus the whole next year in advance!

They can take you to court and really screw with you if you're not careful.

I fixed it with the anal retentive association people, and as I 'made nice' to them, they thanked me and told them how they receive death threats in the mail fairly regularly. I was just a little surprised.

I can't even change the paint on my door from blue to green w/o their approval and I had to sit before an architectural board to pre approve building my 12 X 24 workshop/storage building, which had to look just like my house, siding and everything.

Can't even leave my own boat in my own driveway overnight. Home values in neighboring areas have done better than our area to boot. Never again.

Yo Piglett--do they still have those "Live Free or Die" mottos on the license plates up your way? ::)
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

we sure as hell do !!! there is no way in hell i could ever live in a @#&*^% development mite as well move to China & let the commies tell you what to do for the rest of your life, F*CK TH@T!!!
I am just too much of an individual for a development, you see i like to make my own choices & decide how, when, & where to do things.
i know some people like the pool, tennis courts, & all that junk.
it's just not for me, but hey to each his own.

well if they really can't get the house back then i would have to "ALTER" a few things once i moved my stuff out of the building
i still have a good supply of 1/2" & 3/8" grade 70 chain that i have used in the past when i was hauling heavy equipment
i also have an old 4x4 truck that i don't care all that much about.
i would be very tempted to rip that house down!!!
it would probably land me in jail but hey with 3 hot's & a cot I'm sure i would be just fine  ;D ;D ;D
