The man's guide for holding his woman's purse!
« on: January 04, 2011, 01:01:48 AM »

Seems like it never fails.I get into a relationship with a woman and somewhere along the way I end up "doing her a favor" and holding her purse. Most of the time it is when she is trying in clothes.During these experiences in purse holding, I've learned a few things that might come in handy for guys that don't mind doing the favor as long as they can do it without looking like a fairy.
First off, I think it is important to understand how men and women view the purse. To most women a purse is an accessory to her clothes. The best purse goes with everything, if she can find one that does.So she doesn't carry it so much as she wears it.If you notice most purses will be in plain sight so it can be noticed, when a woman has it.
Now, to most guys a purse is nothing more than a bag with a bunch of stuff in it.This is exactly how a guy should hold it.Depending on the style, there are several ways of doing this.If the purse has a long strap, double it up and hold it close to the bag.Don't let it dangle to far and for heaven's sake don't put the strap over your shoulder. If you do you will be wearing it!The best thing is to bypass the strap and just hold the bag itself as if you were carrying a six pack in a brown paper bag.
The small round bags are easy.Just hold it on your forearm tucked on the inside of your elbow.Like a running back carrying a football.Nothing could be more manly.
For those that simply don't want to hold their woman's purse, just simply refuse. There is nothing wrong with not wanting to.But if you find yourself in the situation where you can't say no remember:hold your head high and hold the purse like what it really is, a bag with a bunch of stuff in it! :D :D :D

Be sure to rummage around in it a bit, and rearrange the things as to which pocket they're in.  ;)

They like that. It let's them know you're paying attention to them.  :)

Set it on the bench beside you, pull your walkin around piece, and act like its the most precious thing in the universe. Anyone comes near it, fire a warning shot. No one will say anything about you holding her purse. ;)

The .38 will offset the pink floral pattern and I doubt any one will give it a second thought.

I hope, for your sake, the -ito suffix was a term of endearment. I hope she wasn't being literal.  ;D

Great Topic… LOL!

I guess if I had to carry her purse in public, I would use this method…

It's where Mom always kept gum.  I bet if you start digging, you'll find gum.  Pull stuff out.  If it's not gum, set it aside on the seat next to you to get it out of your way.  When she comes back and asks what you are doing, say you are looking for gum.  I like gum.

Remind me to be a LOT more careful around the young girls with all the "Hello Kitty" stuff...   :o

That's hilarious and frightening all at the same time!   :-\  It also brings up some tricky questions for a firearm instructor...

Nah. A good instructor would have a 5 second WTF moment then proceed. In the gun world, aesthetics are secondary to function.  ;D

If what's being said here is 'be careful-there might be a gun in that purse'---a purse isn't a great place to keep a gun. The purse is usually a fast target item and snatched from a woman, leaves the gun in the perp's possession.

Better to go w/ concealed carry, although for many, especially slender women, that creates a fashion dilemma. Some companies are making some good tasers and pepper case devices that are smaller, but most of the best, like those from Kimber, are usually pretty big in and of themselves.
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!
