Cris wants an iPhone so Ive been doing some looking at smart phones in general as I could use an upgrade too. I found this today.

The Droid X is a great phone but currently I would not buy any phone that would extend or have me sign a new contract. My contract with T-mobile have expired over a year now & they have been "enticing" me to renew but I am not biting.

Personally I would look at Dell or Amazon & pay the extra and buy an unlock phone

Also why would Cris want an Iphone? Nokia or Motorola is the way to go if she want to use it in phil.

While in Phil I offer my wife an unlocked Iphone but she didn't want it nor a Blackberry but my Nokia E71 was coveted by her & her niece. My wife now have an Motorola music phone.
If we were all forced to wear a warning label, what would yours say?

The only reason I brought this up is for the under $20 purchase price. I figure IF I go this way why spend $120 if I only need to spend $20. Cris and I will talk about phones for her when shes here. I'm looking for me at the moment. IF this goes to the next level, then a phone for her becomes a more pressing matter.

I wouldn't want to get locked in a contract with Verizon....Boost is even cheaper now that they give you a lower rate if you stay with them longer and pay timely. By the end of 2 years I'll be paying $35/month for unlimited everything. Phones aren't that expensive. I racked up $100+ on a verizon pay as you go phone in about 2 weeks due to hidden fees. Only used it for talking with my fiance now and then when Skype wasn't available (at work, visiting family, outside BBQing).

EDIT:
Oh, and $5 extra for unlimited international calling to China, damn. Hope they expand to Taiwan....
