I've been away from the industry for some time now, but check the website of your particular airline and find out if you can purchase a pass to the airline's lounge. Makes all the difference in the World. Not just for Men here who have their fiancees' arriving, but Men who have yet to travel.
Of course, KrisWorld is...well check for yourself.
I come from a different place and time. Traveling SUCKS today. Whether it's Gate Rape, or sitting on the tarmac then watching the company do a Gate Return so they can cxl your flight...well, I'm not going to get started.
Especially on LONG flights...if you can get an upgrade, your life WILL improve markedly. The typical passenger is a jerk. Mind your manners, keep a low profile, be respectful of those whom you contact, spend an extra 60 seconds chatting up a worker-bee and just watch how much easier your journey gets.
For those of you bringing a Spouse to the US, put yourself in their shoes. If you can swing it determine how much for a Business Class upgrade. Check eBay, too. You'll have PLENTY of time to squeeze the nickel, but right here, right now, you want to make everything you can as seamless as possible. ESPECIALLY if you are dealing with an inexperienced traveler.
I mean, Guys...we ain't traveling to Oklahoma City here.
