10 year old mom
« on: November 04, 2010, 04:38:52 PM »
Well I saw an article today about a little girl in Spain who gave birth to a baby recently at age 10.  I thought that was young, but then I looked up the world's youngest mother and found that a little girl in Peru gave birth at age 5.  The link contains the shocking photo of the 5 year old Lina Medina, she is still living today at age 77.

If it's not bad enough that we have ten year old girls, who due to hormone laden milk and food, have to wear bras and are developing curves, then we have their parents allowing them to wear lipstick or lip gloss, other make up and suggestive clothing. I see 5th graders wearing high, spiked heels.

Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear of a kid ten years old being pregnant--it happens too often in middle school already--although the children can get birth control w/o the parents having to be notified.

On a separate, but yet somehow related subject, it was announced that in our city's board of education meeting that as we have a sizable amount of middle school students not finishing middle school by normal age of 13, that those 16 and older who insist on driving to and parking on school grounds, will no longer able to do so.

Yea--you'd think the school principal could say 'Hey-NO way'--but no, the BOE has to create a policy to give them that 'right'.

Last week, we had a student break a middle school principal's finger in three places, as the principal tried to take away his cell phone.

The bleeding heart, liberal principal didn't want to press charges, but amazingly, the BOE made him go ahead and press charges. Seems the federal govt. keeps track of suspensions and prosecutions and too many black kids from the most desperately poor neighborhoods are documented as  being suspended and the school can lose its approximately 7% of federal funding for not making 'AYP' (adequate yearly progress) as a result.

In schools where the population is 98% black, the fed. govt will actually expect a 50% -50% rate of the black 'minority' students to the 2% 'non black' kids to be suspended.

Some might think I'm coming across as 'racially insensitive' but to me, it doesn't matter if they're asian, white, black, purple or pink--the way the fed. govt. weighs things and the way local BOE's kow tow to the fed govt--it's totally ridiculous.

That's why some states are telling the fed. govt. to keep their seven or so percent they contribute to state education costs and to leave them the hell alone.

I remember a smart ass kid, who wasn't even in trouble, informing the princpial: "My momma's lawyer says that if you even lay a finger on me--we be livin in YO house"

No fear--no respect, but they demand respect or will kill you for the slightest perceived infraction.

Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

Hey Robert A!
When I see how my daughters dress compared to how my wife's young family members dress, the young girls of Colombia are wearing way less clothing.  The young girls of S. America are learning at a young age how to be feminine.  If we want the same type of ladies here, maybe we should be more focused on their 'feminine side' when they are young.    That being said, I'm happy keeping my little girls interested in athletics, but I'm sorta neutral on the choices of others regarding how they raise their young girls, just so long as it is not TOO inappropriate.

Well 10 year olds getting pregnant does surprise the bejesus out of me. A parent would really have to be out of touch with what is going on with his kid to not see some serious warning signs.

I'd like to hear more of this story.  If a principle allowed a student to intentionally break his finger and then he did nothing about it, I'd be pretty disgusted with his decision and in the long run he is doing the student no favors either.

There is no doubt that young black kids get in trouble more often then any other race.  The reasons why are debatable. My black friends have always been similar to me in that they use the same logic as I would and their kids behave the same as mine do, which is pretty darn good.  There is another segment of black population that I've had a lot of exposure to that have a little less respect for others, I've found being straight up, looking them in the eyes and having a wacky yet genuine sense of humor helps us bridge whatever gap there is in other areas of our thinking. I've found that a respect can be generated through these types of positive interactions, and when that occurs it is far less likely that a negative behavior will occur between the two individuals.  Many people shut down and I don't blame them entirely, but it just perpetuates the gap in appreciation of the good qualities each individual person may possess and creates an environment where disrespectful acts are more likely.

There should not be any quotas for who gets suspended and who doesn't based on race.  Whoever is guilty of the violation is the one that needs to be punished.  No reason to entitle one race over another when it comes to either punishment or awards.
