Introduction
« on: September 20, 2010, 09:00:29 PM »
Hello everyone,

I am new here to the boards here. I have restarted my search for MY perfect Pinay after a few years Hiatus. I had a slight detour financially while I supported my sister who is disabled after her Husband left her. I am a over the road truck driver and as such have no real social life, or a internet connection most of the time.  ;D You may have to restrain my enthusiasm at times because I am one of those who wears his heart on his sleeve. I have been single and dateless for the past 14 years since my last fiancee passed away from cancer. That may be too much information but it illustrates why I will be leaning on you guys and your wives advice to help me wade through the muddy waters ahead.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Hi Godzilla and welcome. Didn't I see you smashing buildings in Tokyo a few years back? The vast majority of motels these days have free wifi if you bring along a laptop, and I'll bet a lot of truck stop restaurants do too.

We're happy to help out where we can. A good friend of mine and an occasional poster lost his wife a couple years ago. You remind me of him - hard working, blue collar, real mensch kinda guy, but absolutely zero recent dating experience. He found a filipina earlier this year, fell in-love and she should arrive soon on a K1 (fiancée) visa. It's very doable, even if you're not a seasoned world traveler and skirt chase with a lot of "game." In fact, in the far east, those qualities are probably a detriment rather than an asset.

If you have any questions, ask away!

- Jeff

OMG it's Godzilla!

Mothra next.

Nice that you took care of Sis...Good Man.  And your ex-fiancee.  Ugh.  I had a run-in with Lung CA about 5 years ago, and as you know sucks_big_time.  Whatever you believe, she's in a better place now.

14 years.  Wow, that's a long stretch, but here you are!  Good group of guys, with a few Women, and all with good advice.

OTR Driver, huh?  I know an old co-worker who works OTR for Wal Mart.  He told me that WM has 53,000 trailers.  As much as I despise WM, he likes it and they take care of him, and give him good equipment, plus get him home with well over 90% regularity.

Regardless, Welcome Aboard.

I was thinking the same thing.  When I and the family drive cross-country to visit kin, I noticed that pretty much every Flying-J had wi-fi.  And my cousin is a long haul trucker, and I often see posts on his facebook page from here and there.  Get yourself a cheap laptop and you are connected at every fuel stop or forced break.
Though a warning, the younger girls might expect you to spend lots of time on instance messaging or skype.  You might prefer a grown-up who understands you are working and is okay with e-mails when you get a break to write them.

Welcome to the game!

Welcome, GZ!

You sound like a practical fellow and that's great--it'll serve you well here. There's a bit to learn about what you might want to consider--what to do and what you might not want to do--all in here. There's dramas. humor and the 'trip reports' are always interesting.

If it seems like I want to kill Ray, it's usually just a short term emotion. He's got some good advice too--he and Dave H kind of epitomize the 'been there, done that' and know the ropes here and 'over there' as well, so keep an eye on their posts.

There's a lot of great guys here besides those two eggs--Kfc is sort of our technical 'go to guy' and just went through the whole courtship, marriage situation and his posts are helpful too. Sounds like we're similar in that we both need to upgrade our computer and use of technology for communication knowledge, so this is a good place for both of us!
Whether you think you can or think you can't--you're right!

welcome to the board "G"
i used to be an owner/operator but decided that a 80K a year was not all that doable for me so i came home & got a job. I can tell you that i am in far better physical shape now than i was when i was just holding the steering wheel too. The big pitfall that i see for you is that most truck drivers that ran OTR had 2,3,4, or even 5 ex wives.
it looked to me like 5 years +/- was the average that the typical American woman would put up with her husband being away for weeks at a time. However maybe your new pinay wife would like to ride with you & see the country for a couple of years.

I'm not trying to rain on your parade here but these are all things that will need to be factored in to your decisions

good luck & hold ur in the road
piglett

PS what kind of trail do you pull?
i started pulling a dry van for JB ::) after i had enough of their cr@p I went to a flatbed then a stepdeck.
i ended by pulling a RGN which was the most fun, most of the time i drove the freight on & once i arrived i just drove it back off. If i ever head back out onto the big road I'll try to haul nothing but that "yellow iron"

speaks falsely will stand in my presence.

Hey Godzilla,

Welcome to P-L! Keep your heart somewhat guarded until you actually meet in person and get more serious! Even the scammers and ho's can appear so sweet and innocent. Remember, if they ask you for money RUN!

Good luck,

Dave
