Just got back from meeting Jia in Shenzhen China. story pics/vid inside

Jia was great. She treated me like I was a king. She did everything for me and made my stress of the trip minimal. For example she had to work the first day I got there so she had her english speaking friend take me to lunch. She threw a birthday party for me at KTV with her friends and got me a birthday cake, she ironed my clothes, she constantly put food on my plate and refilled my glass etc.

Everywhere we went she was holding on to me tightly.  I was getting alot of stares and smiles from girls all the time and she said she was getting a little jealous. My american friend that visited thought she was being a little possesive haha. But overall she was really sweet and attractive and took great care of me.

She even demanded to pay several times. On the 2nd last day I wanted to get money exchanged but it was going to be difficult to get to a bank. So she insisted to pay for everything and wanted me to save the rmb I had left in case I needed it for an emergency.  

I kept trying to pay her back everytime she bought something for me but she kept refusing saying maybe you and your american friends need to keep a list on who owes who what but you and me dont do that.

I met her friends and her mom. Her mom didnt speak any english but was very nice to me. She made me 3 dinners. Each one had 7 different dishes and she never repeated any of them. She said she has many more she can cook too.  The food in Shenzhen was much better to me than in Beijing. I only had a couple of things I didnt like this time where in Beijing about 50% of the food I had I couldnt eat.

We went to many places and tourists sites. I will talk more about those when I post pictures.

Saw some crazy driving as usual. We were in a taxi and two cars in the right lane got in a wreck, the truck behind them slammed on the brakes and the truck in front of us in our lane literally took the mirror clean off the truck that stopped. The truck in front of us just kept driving like nothing happened haha. We were walking and I was comparing crazy driving in China to american drving. Right when I was talking about this we were at a major intersection where a taxi proceeds to drive into the middle of the intersection do 2 circles and finally pick a direction and go. Perfect timing. I was like see that, you cant do that in America lol. In the taxis we almost got in several car wrecks and all the taxis purposely ripped out the back seat belts. She even thought it was strange that I wanted one. I was like ya so I dont die!.

We also of course talked about our future. I told her we definitely need to take some time to think about the next steps. A visa is a big big commitment. I told her my first priority was finding a job. She was fine with that but I have a feeling if I told her hey lets get engaged now she would be happy with that.

Very long I know and I am probably forgetting alot.  Anyway, comments or questions are welcome.

Thanks guys. not ready to propose yet.  I dont even have a job.  Although I have a really good chance with a job within the next month. 

My attorney friend said if you can get your US Senator or Congressman to say its ok you can get a tourist visa.  Well his uncle who is a big attorney here and a very good friend with my dad is also friends with either one of our congressmen or senators.  I forgot which one.  My dad says that the uncle owes him some favors and maybe be able to push on the representative.  Have you guys heard this is a possible way to obtain a tourist visa?  I would love to have her come here and visit first without us making a huge commitment.

It is not impossible for a single Chinese female to get a tourist visa to the US and is definitely worth a try as several guys on CFL have reported their fiancee/spouse being successful in doing so. The key is to show that she has strong ties to China which will more than likely lead to her returning to China instead of overstaying her visa in the US. Important items that she would need to submit with her visa application would be proof that she has a steady job that she will need to return to (letter from her employer goes a long way), if she owns a car or real estate then show proof of that, show proof that most of her family still resides in China, show proof of assets in China, ect.

I am not sure if having a Senator or Congressman to get involved would help out with a tourist visa or not but hey it is definitely worth a try.  Here is a good thread on CFL in which the poster discusses how is wife was successfully able to obtain 3 tourist visas to the US (the first before they got married) without too much difficulty:

Thank you.  I am on that site but I never noticed that thread.  That is really helpful.  The main thing i am concerned about is she really doesnt have any valuable assets and I am pretty certain she does not have much money saved up.

She would have to qualify on her own merits for a visitor visa.

Your congressional representatives probably can not do much of anything to influence the visa process in this case, short of passing a new law to allow her specifically to enter the US.

From what you posted, I would say that her chances are slim and none, and Slim just left town… 

Note: an engagement doesn't require any income or assets. That would come much later if and when she went in for a fiancee/spouse visa interview.

Her parents are fine.  Her dad skipped town when she was 12 and hasnt seen him since.  Her mom loves me and wants us to get married.
