Heading to Hong Kong

I am planning on going to HK this coming January.
It will be my first trip to Asia. It is a gathering for some forums "friends".
I am a member of a martial arts forum, and a few of us will be meeting up in HK,
we have been chatting & posting on that forum & this is the first time we ill meet in person.

I will be there before everybody - they plan on getting there on a Saturday - I plan on being there on a Thursday. I will have 2 days to explore the place by myself.

They plan on taking a trip to the mainland - I am not sure where yet but I personally plan on spending one day in Macau.

Also I plan on staying there for about 10 days.

Hi John,

You will definitely have a great time in Hong Kong - I have been there several times myself with my most recent trip being last month. There are many things that you can do on your own for 2 days while you are waiting on you other friends to arrive. One suggestion of mine would be to take a ride on the Ngong Ping 360 cable car. In my opinion this is much better than taking the tram to the top of Victoria's Peak. The cable car offers some incredible views plus it will allow you to visit the Po Lin Monastery and Giant Buddha.

If you plan on taking a side trip to the Mainland just be sure and get a visa for China before you leave - you don't need a visa for HK or Macau but will need one for the mainland. You actually picked an excellent time to visit HK because it won't be overbearingly hot & humid like it is in the summer time.

The cable car is already on my list along with a few temples/buddha.

The visa I do plan on getting just-in-case.
My friends plan on visiting Shaw Brothers Studios along with a few other places...so I will tag along with them.
