Large Propellor blades
« on: July 18, 2009, 01:53:30 PM »
Some time back I posted that as I went over a bridge at the Houston Ship Channel I could look down and see hundreds of large propeller blades that looked like, when put together, they would cover a city block.  Well while on vacation I finally found what those blades were used for - wind generators.  Several times I saw trucks with then on the back being taken to sites where the wind generators were being built.  Must have been at least a hundred of those wind generators in west Texas (near Ft Stockton - not one turning) and about fifty up by Amarillo (all turning).  Just to make the topic more interesting our friend Boone Pickins has announced he decided to sell his 2 billion dollar share of this industry because he can't connect the wind powered electricity to the main power lines.  The power plants send out a constant voltage and his generators are inconsistent to say the least - all dependant on the wind to blow (note I didn't see one wind generator turning in west Texas).  Since there has been no storage/conversion developed for the two incompatible types of power he sees the whole idea now as a waste of time/money.

Thank you Boone Pickens for stopping local oil drilling for your wind powered boondoggle and wasting our tax dollars on your unproven scheme.  And thank you also to Nancy Pelosi, one of your top investors, who helped you prevent more oil drilling to stifle your competition.  Maybe now we can concentrate on making alcohol out of corn with 1.1 gallon of gasoline and 2.4 gallons of water used for every 1 gallon of corn based alcohol made and drive up the prices of food even more!!  But don't worry our POLITICIANS (not engineers or scientists) insist this will work and will force a cap and trade on us very soon to make sure we convert to things that don't work so their environmentalist campaign contributors get their desires.

I think its time for a revolt!

I think your on the rite track
at what point will the sheep-like american people wake up & figure out that the @ssholes
in washington do not have OUR best interest in mind,
the only thing i they are interested in is lining their own pockets.

by the way when will Texas brake away from these crazy moonbats & become their own country?
I mite have to take a long hard look at selling my old house & heading on down.

Hey Bear
I want to add something that is happening now, I work in a steel mill in the east, for the last 3 months we have been shipping I-beams we make to a place in Texas to be painted or galvanized. From there they are being shipped to Nevada to be used in a new government sponsored solar panel project. I know we have shipped thousands of these beams 52' long on train cars.

Also about the gasoline, what makes diesel fuel more expensive, which drives up the shipping cost for everyone?
I realize today it is almost the same cost but, for a long time it has been much more expensive than gasoline. Diesel fuel is actually a by-product of gasoline or so I am told by the people working in a oil refinery close to my home.

I just thought this kinda goes along with your post, I always enjoy reading your post's,,,
 thanks Jay

I heard of a multi-square mile (into the tens/hundreds of miles) solar panel being developed in the west somewhere, if when completed would provide all Americas electrical needs, maybe the project is actually being built but I didn' see any sign of it in my vacation wanderings.

Fox News had several reports over the last few years about new projects/technologies that were really quite awesome in scope and possibility, I think that was one of them.  Another was a guy here in Houston who had built a conversion method to change water to a hydrogen-oxygen fuel.  It was demonstrated here on the news and was reported that when in production, a car using 20 gallons of water could continue for over 250,000 miles without refueling.  I saved the sight and intended to purchase one of the fuel cells to experiment with (they were just a bit over $100 each) but because of work and other efforts I put it off till two months ago.  Now the sight is closed and I can't find anything on it?  You would think that this technology would have changed the world and been rushed into production? My concern when I saw it was the safety of storage but now I can't find a place to purchase it?

Several weeks after that news report there was another that claimed the President of Brazil (I think - could have been another country in that area) was reporting they had confirmed two oil reserves that tripled the worlds known oil reserves!  BUT they wanted the worlds opinion before they developed the fields because they were being fined by the UN for not meeting the Kyoto Treaty CO2 levels and to develop these fields would caused them to be fined even more?  This was the week before the Global warming meeting on that island were they flew jets to one island and took a boat to another island making a mockery of energy conservation!  I've not heard a word since?  If I had been the leader of a country who found such a treasure I would have gone on national TV and claimed all my constituents were now rich and they and their posterity would live a life of ease and wealth.  The world would come to us.  Instead they let the UN decide?!!!

Its not about energy, pollution or any such noble endeavor, its about control.

I am an engineer if a green industry and all day we efficiently control building resources to meet optimum performance at the comfort level required by the tenants.  For example if a scientist decides that in order for a child to learn to read, the temp must be 74.1 F +/- .025 degrees I can control it and certify it occurred and at the optimum of the equipment installed.  Its called LEEP certification.  Our business is booming.  We do more work than the companies behind us (places 2-10) put together x4.  We have hired 7 engineers this year alone (and that just the Houston office) and the governments/financial institutions are starting to require this certification.  This is real.  The government stuff like wind farms are a joke and currently the technology does not exist.  Governements do not belong in the market place other that to protect its constituents.

Hey you guys, I got this from my brother. Have any of you heard of this. If this is true then why isn't it all over the news 24/7?

OIL (not a joke)

The U. S. Geological Service issued a report in April ('08) that only scientists and oil men knew was coming, but man was it big.  It was a revised report ( hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota ; western South Dakota ; and extreme eastern Montana ..... check THIS out:

The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay , and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels.. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable... at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

'When I first briefed legislators on this, you could practically see their jaws hit the floor. They had no idea.' says Terry Johnson, the Montana Legislature's financial analyst.

'This sizable find is now the highest-producing onshore oil field found in the past 56 years.' reports, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette.  It's a formation known as the Williston Basin , but is more commonly referred to as the 'Bakken.'  And it stretches from Northern Montana, through North Dakota and into Canada .  For years, U. S. oil exploration has been considered a dead end.  Even the 'Big Oil' companies gave up searching for major oil wells decades ago.  However, a recent technological breakthrough has opened up the Bakken's massive reserves.... and we now have access of up to 500 billion barrels.  And because this is light, sweet oil, those billions of barrels will cost Americans just $16 PER BARREL!

That's enough crude to fully fuel the American economy for2041 years straight.

2. And if THAT didn't throw you on the floor, then this next one should - because it's from TWO YEARS AGO!

U. S. Oil Discovery- Largest Reserve in the World!
Stansberry Report Online - 4/20/2006

Hidden 1,000 feet beneath the surface of the Rocky Mountains lies the largest untapped oil reserve in the world. It is more than 2 TRILLION barrels.  On August 8, 2005 President Bush mandated its extraction. In three and a half years of high oil prices none has been extracted. With this motherload of oil why are we still fighting over off-shore drilling?

They reported this stunning news:  We have more oil inside our borders, than all the other proven reserves on earth. Here are the official estimates:

- 8-times as much oil as Saudi Arabia
- 18-times as much oil as Iraq
- 21-times as much oil as Kuwait
- 22-times as much oil as Iran
- 500-times as much oil as Yemen
- and it's all right here in the Western United States .

HOW can this BE? HOW can we NOT BE extracting this?  Because the environmentalists and others have blocked all efforts to help America become independent of foreign oil! Again, we are letting a small group of people dictate our lives and our economy......WHY?

James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we've got more oil in this very compact area than the entir e Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped.  That's more than all the proven oil reserves of crude oil in the world today, reports The Denver Post.

Don't think 'OPEC' will drop its price - even with this find?  Think again!  It's all about the competitive marketplace, - it has to. Think OPEC just might be funding the environmentalists?
Got your attention/ire up yet?  Hope so!  Now, while you're thinking about it .... and hopefully P.O'd, do this:

3. Pass this along.   If you don't take a little time to do this, then you should stifle yourself the next time you want to complain about gas prices .. because by doing NOTHING, you've forfeited your right to complain.
--------
Now I just wonder what would happen in this country if every one of you sent this to every one in your address book.
By the way...this is all true. Check it out at the link below!!!

I hadn't heard about Bakken but I have heard that the US had 90+% of the worlds shale and coal reserves which if developed would be multiple times more than the worlds known oil reserves.  It just means that Heavenly Father did make the US the choice land in the world just like its says in the Bible.  But the eviromentalist and animal rights wackos both feel that we would destroy our world if we developed our resources.

If thats the case in each of those instances then the US sould be out of debt and Obamas handouts should go to every man woman and child over the age of 18. No welfare, no uninsured etc.

Hmmm?  I think if it was perfect though we'd "share" everything with everybody?

Link: USGS survey of Bakken oil reserves.
It doesn't get us anywhere near Saudi Arabia's proven oil reserves of some 260+ billion barrels.  In fact, the maximum estimated 4.3 billion barrels would only feed us for a little over half a year with our estimated 7.5 billion barrels of consumption per year.  But every little bit helps.

With all respect, but I seriously doubt the the US is mentioned anywhere in the Bible...
