I spent my week in Thailand last month in preparation for spending a month there this summer. Now that the house is finished, things are settling down.
It appears that a daily life plan will be to get up at 6 or so, sit out on the patio and have coffee and juice. Then we will drive to the local restaurant that we favor around 8 for breakfast. Back to the house around 10 for some yard work. Swimming and lunch around noon.
Then over to AUA for English/Thai lessons until 430. (AUA is the American University Alumni- the oldest and most prestigious of the language schools). Dinner at one of the sukiyaki houses then home for a little cable TV, swimming, or cards.
This plan is not going to work very long so I will have to seek some other employment or activity. With a thai wife, this can be pretty open. Most common occupations will be either English instruction or perhaps some legal consultations for thais and thai businesses wanting to qualify for various US visas. OR- open a bar and restaurant like all the other ex-pats.
Getting there is only half the problem. LIVING THERE is the other half.
