Cali trip report 02/21 - 03/01

Whats up guys.  Gonna give the cliff note version of my report since I spent the majority of my time with 1 woman.  I had 6 dates while in Cali, 2 agency girls I had been writing to for about 6 months, and 4 non-agency girls I was hooked up with by my gringo friend living in Cali.

I arrived in Cali (via Miami) around 8:30 pm on the 21st.  The airport was a nightmare!  It was packed with people and I was a little supprised by how many police, security and dogs were around.  On my first night there, my Spanish was not very good so I was not exactly sure what to do.  I followed the lines and ended up at the booth where they check your passport.  The guy started talking to me and I just said "no entiendo".....he looked, laughed, stamped my passport and let me walk thru.  That was easy....next was baggage claim.  Real easy.  Then the search thru your stuff....I sent my bags thru the x-ray machine and grabbed them and waited in line for my turn to be searched.  The guy looks at me and just waves me thru, no search!  I was amazed but relieved since I could finally get out of the airport.  All that took about 45 minutes. 

I walked outside and saw the number of people outside waiting for their loved ones.  It was nice to see so many smiling faces and beautiful women.  My amigo friend (Gary) met me at the airport and we took off in the cab for his apartment.  Gary has lived in Colombia for 2 years, 6 months in Cali.  He knows the ends and outs and speaks very good Spanish.  30 minute cab ride home with no problems.  When I arrived I immediately called Paola (my new novia) that I had been writing to for 6 months and was very anxious to see her.  In my best Spanish, I told her to come over at 10 am in the morning.  I said 10 because I assumed she would be late.  (At least thats what I learned on PL)  Nothing more after that, unpacked and went to bed.

Woke up early on the 22nd and walked 1 block to exito for breakfast.  Quick bite to eat and I hit the ATM in Exito for cash and back to the apartment to wait for Paola.  It is 9:15 am and I am very nervous about our initial meeting.  I am looking over my Spanish notes from classes and trying to remember some of the things I wanted to say to her.  (Like how beautiful she looked, how I liked her shoes, earrings, etc- you know, stuff girls like to hear)  I get a call from the Porteria (guard station at the apartment) and it is 9:45 am.  They tell me Paola is waiting for me downstairs.  15 minutes early - I'm in shock.  I race downstairs and across the parking lot to meet Paola.  I am floored!  She is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.  5'7", long, straight jet-black hair down to her ass, beautiful form fitting clothes and 4" heels.  I was at a loss of words, I couldn't remember a damn thing from those Spanish classes!  jajajaja   We immediately hugged and kissed without saying a word.  (Oh yeah, she paid for her own taxi and refused to take my money)  EAT YOUR HEART OUT PAPI!!  She came inside and we sat and talked for awhile.  I was so nervous and had no idea what to say or do.  I came across the world to see this girl in particular, but I wanted to experience more than just 1 woman.  We went to Chipechape for lunch.  Ate at the steak place (Carlos and lebron (sp?)) and had a great meal.  Her English is about as good as my Spanish so things went great.  We also went to see a movie (blood diamond).  She is very sexy and attentive.  She is watching the movie and always has her hand on me.  Either we are holding hands, she has her hand on my leg, or is rubbing the back of my head.  Very affectionate.  She starts crying during a sad part of the movie and I make this a great opportunity to grab her and hug her tight.  She has a huge smile on her face.  I was so into her, you have no idea.  Towards the end of the movie I got my first kiss and I felt like I was floating.  She is so amazing.  After the movie we took a taxi home and she left to go pick her daughter from school. 

Later that night, I called one of the girls my friends was hooking me up with.  She says she will be there at 7 pm and we will go eat and talk.  Well, she shows up a little after 8 pm and the first of the Papi tale's is coming true.  She is OK looking, short hair, sort of thick, but very nice.  Right off I have no chemistry with her.  She speaks NO English, so to say the least, our dinner conversation was light.  After dinner, we left and went back to my apartment.  I told her I was not feeling any chemistry for her and I appreciated that she came to see me.  The truth is, I couldn't get my mind off Paola.  I paid for girl #2 taxi to and from my apartment and paid for dinner.  I called Paola and asked her to come over in the morning.  She said about 10:30 and I said fine.  I got off the phone with her and my friend Gary wanted to take me down Ave. sexta to see the nightlife.  We took a taxi and asked him to drive slowly down sexta to see the discos and women.  Women everywhere....working girls and non-working girls.  What a site to see.  Beautiful women everywhere you look.  Rode around for an hour and went home.

Got up early, ate breakfast, same routine.  It is 10 am and I am dressed, showered and waiting for Paola.  She calls me at 10:15 am and says she will be 15 minutes late because the traffic is heavy.  What, a phone call to tell me you are gonna be late?  Wow, she is breaking all the experiences Papi writes about.  Not only does she pay for her own taxis, she calls to tell me she is going to be late.  Call it beginners luck, call it whatever you want, this girl is a keeper.  She shows up and I want to go to Jardin Plaza.  About a 40 minute taxi ride.   I just wanted to get a good look at the city and experience traffic.  Very interesting to say the least.  We had lunch, I did some shopping for daughter (a few toys) and asked her if I could get her a small gift.  She refused and said that my money was not important to her!!  What, are you kidding me??  Did you just say those magic words!?  Where is Papi when I need a reality check?  Ok, OK...no problem.  We shopped for a while and we went back to my apartment.  It is late in the afternoon and she finally went home to her daughter. 

Around 7:30 that night, I called the other girl I had been writing to (an agency girl) to set up a date with her the next day.  She lives about 45 minutes away and has to take a bus to Cali and then a taxi to my apartment.  This girl really likes me based on our conversations over the internet.  She is smokin' hot.....5'8", long straight hair, and a perfect body.  I am so excited to see her to because we have been talking for so long.  I finally want to put a face with the email and photos.  We agreed for 11 the next day.  I then called another girl to go out with from the non-agency list and she arrives about 2 hours later.  We go dancing, drinking, etc.  Let me just say this about my experience with non-agency girls.....they definitely are not afraid of spending, taking or asking for your money.  Needless to say, the four non-agency girls I went out with did nothing for me.  I guess since they were blind dates, I did not have much enthusiasm for them.  I have a particular look I like and if they do not fit the criteria, I am just not interested.  I have already made plans to spend the next few days with Paola and am very happy and excited to do so.

Agency girl 2, Erica, shows up on time the next day(another incredible act) and even pays for her taxi.  She is drop dead gorgeous.  She is from Cali, but lives in a small town outside the city with her sister.  She is a country girl by Cali standards and speaks very softly.  I like her look.  She has the straight, long black hair, curvy figure and beautiful brown skin.  She speaks NO English, NADA!  So, being in Cali a few days, my Spanish has improved so I go for broke.  I start speaking to her in my broken Spanish and she is enjoying it.  She understands me pretty good and we go to lunch at Uni Centro.  Had steaks and did some shopping.  I bought her daughter a gift and she was very pleased.  We walked around and went to a movie (Deja Vu) .  I like the movies here because they are in English with Spanish subtitles.  We had a great afternoon and she eventually left for her house around 8 pm.  I did get a kiss and many hugs, but I still had Paola on my mind.  I did nothing later.  Watched TV and sat on the patio enjoying the view of the mountains of Cali.

The next morning, I got up early and had breakfast.  Paola is coming around 12 pm to pick me up.  I am having dinner with her family today.  Paola is cooking the entire meal and I can tell she is excited to cook for me.  She lives with her Grandfatehr, Grandmother, 2 Aunts, and her daughter.  Her brother was there with his novia and several of her cousins.  A very large family....many who came just to meet me.  I felt like a King.  I was the first to sit, first to eat, and everyone was so polite and loving.  I never had anyone treat me so well.  Was I falling in love with the first girl I went out with in Cali?  This was not my intention, but man, she was perfect.  I brought her Grandfather a nice bottle of American Wiskey from the duty free shop at the Miami airport.  He looked at me like he just hit the lottery!  He raised Paola after both her parents passed away and he looks at her like a granddaughter and daughter.  He really warmed up to me and we sat around and enjoyed his whiskey.  The family liked me and the whole day was wonderful.  Right before I left, her Grandfather pulled me aside, shook my hand tight and told me he approved of me being with his granddaughter.  He grabbed me and hugged me tight and said "My house is your house".  I almost broke down.  It had to be the most touching thing I ever experienced.  I felt very welcomed and the rest of the day I was floating. 

So, to make the story short...I spent the rest of my trip with Paola.  She stayed over a few nights and we just had such a good time.  Her voice is very soft and sexy.  She reminds me of Penelope Cruz when she talks.  I am floored by her looks and she treats me like a king.  She took me to the disco Kukamaranga (sp)  It was incredible.  Women were everywhere and I was the only gringo in the house.  They were staring at me and I felt like a rock star!  Paola had to tell a few girls to back off, which made me feel amazing.  I felt so wanted, yet I only had eyes for Paola.  Man, what has happened to me?

The last night I was in Cali, Paola, yes Paola, paid for a hotel room for us at a hotel called Geisha Motel.  It is about 20 minutes from the airport.  She said she had a suprise for me and a night to remember!  YIPEE!!!!  We pulled in and the place looks just like a mini storage facility!?  WTF?  We drive around for a bit and when we pull up, a large mini storage type door opens and it is a private garage.  I get out of the taxi and open the small wood door to the hotel..........WOW, a hidden paradise.  It is a presidential suite.  Every wall in the room is glass.  See thru shower (all glass), full bar, big screen TV, nice king size bed with mirrors on ceiling, private patio with jacuzzi and steam room.  Get this, there was even a funny looking chair in the corner that I had never seen before.  I asked her about it and she had no clue.  I looked around and on the wall beside the funny chair was a picture.  The picture had several demonstrations of sexual positions using the chair?  What kind of hotel is this I asked?  She said it was for married couples to escape everything and have a nice time together.  Well, to end the story, we had dinner, 5 coronas, a bottle of champagne and the room...all for around $55.00 dollars.  WHAT A DEAL!  I recommend everyone check this place out.

Next morning, the airport, nothing interesting happend.  She cried the whole time and told me she loved me and that her heart belonged to me.  I told her I agreed and would be back soon to see her.  I told her I considered her my novia and we hugged and kissed what seemed like for hours.  I finally left and had no problems leaving the airport.  I did not get searched again, was it because I was a gringo?

A word of advise, if you are connecting in Miami, have a 3 - 4 hour layover.  Immigration and customs is a nightmare.  I did not get searched in Miami again and the longest part about the whole process were the lines.  I made it thru pretty quickly, but my luggage did not.  I had to wait till the last flight from Miami to Jacksonville to get my baggage, but it arrived OK.

I dated several women while in Cali, saw the sites, visited the discos and malls, and learned so much about the Colombian culture.  My Spanish improved by at least 50%.  I met the woman of my dreams and I am going to Cali again on April 18th to send the entire week with her.  I want to see how 1 1/2 months changes things.

So yes, Bundy is a taken man.  I have told her she is my novia and I agreed not to see any other women.  I have a great feeling about her and will See where things go.

I laughed when I read what she said about the love motels being for married couples. I suppose a few married couples have used them but they are basically for love trysts for lovers, who though they may be married are not married to each other.

Great report from Cali, I just returned from my first trip to Medellin last weekend and it was an amazing adventure. Your girl sounds fantastic, I think we both lucked out on our first trip. I'm going back again in April to spend more time with my novia. I wish you much luck and again, thanks for the great trip report!!

Don't you hate that damn lump in your throat at the airport when she starts crying and you have to say good-bye?  It used to bum me out all the way home.  LOL.

Just don't forget....Everyone is on cloud 9 at first, in every relationship.  Just use your head and get to know her and one of the worst mistakes anyone could make is to "explain-away" things you don't like or find odd.  But from your report it sounds like you don't have much to worry about.  Congrats again!!!

Hey Bundy,

It looks like it is safe to post on this side of the fence. I see you started a big debate over there with your other thread. Though I do agree mostly with you about the whole fear thingy down there. I was on my toes down there much more than I should have been, and it was because of what I read here. Now, it's just like visiting any other big city and I learned how to sort through things on the boards.

Anyway, welcome back! I am glad that things went well for you.
That was a good report, thanks for sharing. Going by your enthusiasm, it sounds like you are officially ruined. Dating here, kind of sucks after you go down there.

I hope to see some pictures. If you don't want to post them of you and your girl, some scenic ones would be cool too.
