Ray,

Gee, I thought that you and Stephen were waiting for raunchy pictures of me in my purple G-string. Marife got to see it first hand last night. No...she is not ready to see me wearing it yet. ;o))

Thanks for the excellent hand washing advice. She has been using the bathroom sink. She will probably stop when she starts itching and discovers my hair stubble from shaving, embedded in her dainty things. ;o))

Congrats Dave,

It's a great feeling isn't it? Arlene got here in nyc on the 6th (a week before wtc attacks....what a welcome huh?) We're having a civil wedding the week of Oct 6-12 and having a reception at my aunt's on the 13th. It's been a lot of fun...just been hanging out and acting like a couple of goofballs. Tell Marife "Welcome to America" for us. If she wants an email buddy, let me know and I'll fwd you arlene's addy.

Enjoy,

Pete

Hi Pete & Arlene,

Thanks! The second day and it really is fun! I laugh at the many interesting questions Marife has. When I answer a question, I have to remember not to just give a yes or no answer...that only sets up the next question. ;o)) She says I'm strange...which is true, but I think she likes me for that. ;oD Night and day are a bit confusing right now, but she is getting some much needed rest. We will be having a civil wedding sometime in the very near future.

Congratulations and best wishes for your upcoming wedding.

Hi Lori,

A "civil" marriage certainly doesn't describe my previous marriage. ;o))

A civil wedding is a legal marriage, based on civil law. The ceremony can be performed by a notary, judge or various other officials designated by law, as opposed to a wedding performed by clergy (church wedding) who are designated to perform marriages by both law and God.

thanks for the explanation. I was sure it wasn't where everyone just got along and was nice to eachother...hehe.

But anyway, that's what I am planning to do. Thai's family put on a wonderful party for us. I am hoping to do a nice generic reception....of course it won't be as nice as all my friends have had, but at least everyone from my work and all my friends and family will be able to meet him...that's what's most imortant, to me anyways

It's where you just have a legal wedding...the justice of the peace presides over it. You go to court one day to get your marriage license, then you go another to have the judge perform the actual ceremony. A lot of people shoot for a civil wedding first then opt for the church wedding back in Asia with the fiancee's family.

Pete,

That is what I would like to do. Marife says it is not necessary. My ex-wife says she will fight any annulment or dissolution of marriage I attempt through the Catholic Church. I guess my ex wants me back if she ever gets out of pergatory and goes to Heaven. ;o))

Hi Jeff,

Thanks! Marife landed in San Francisco, then proceeded to Miami after a 2 hour layover. She is amazed at how big this country is. But fortunately, our home is warm and cozy. ;o))

Hi H~

Thank you! Call it was dumb luck...my technique can best be described as do everything wrong and look like a fool. Sometimes it just works. ;o)) We hope to get up to your hood later this year. We'll keep you posted. We also wish you and Ayesa joy and happiness.

Hi Steve,

My sister-in-law helped me finish the downstairs the day before. She is an interior decorator, so I came of looking like a super bachelor...probably a bit anal-retentive though. ;o)) Marife is getting suspicious of the way I hold out my pinky finger when I drink from a cup. :-0

Hey Dave,

Just something I observed over the years in the Phils: I don’t remember seeing any men holding out their pinky finger while drinking from a cup, but I’ve seen plenty of women and “Benny Boys” doing it. No wonder you’re getting suspicious looks (ROFL!)

My advice is to tuck in that pinky, at least until after the wedding ceremony. We’d hate to see Marife change her mind at this stage of the game :-)
