Brazilpro, I think I am qualified to notate a good response to an inquiry from a lame text message having spent over 20 years in sales and marketing and holding a degree in Business and Advertising from a large well-known university along with having visited several agencies. Again, I am not trying to tell you or your man how to run a business, but would have felt more comfortable had he treated me like a customer from the get go. Below is something for the Suggestion Box – I did my best to take out the identity of the sender – but this was what I was expecting to earn my trust (and pesos), not 5 words typed over a cell phone. By the way, I have stayed with the sender (agency) twice!

Papi: Did it ever occur to you that maybe they simply don't want your business? Maybe they read your previous critical posts regarding other agencies and simply came to the conclusion that you're going to be critical no matter what so why bother. That's a major advantage of being self-employed. If you don't want to deal with someone you ignore them. I think your posts are good from a "consumer" point of view but a businessman might think otherwise.

Rebel, i have been both critical and positive - see below example in response to clxa covering 4 agencies i recommended to him. Again, that is what i thought this was about - share in the good and bad and exchange ideas. let me know if i'm missing something here and we are not supposed to speak out if we feel something isn't right

i have been out of pocket for a couple days so just got to reading your post below. I assume Medellin is your first trip to Colombia and going there along with CSH is a great start. You say they are thin on woman your type...to that end, what is your type? If possible, try to prepare a list ahead of time of the woman you want to meet and email to CSH in advance. if possible, pick 25-30 woman. Also try to go when Steve will be in town and when they have space in the house for your entire stay. Per your request, it is probably not a great idea to wander the city solo but you should be able to meet a lady to escort you around the city. Medellin is the nicest city i visited in Colombia so i think you are off to a great start. and CSH should take good care of you. here's some other agencies/places you might consider on your next trips.
1. Bogota: LAI
2. BAQ: LTD
3. Cali: Allcolombian

let me know if yu need any more help

no Rebel, it did not occur to me. most owners need cash. and i will tell you this - i've said many positive things here too. in fact, one agency writes me all the time sending me names of people asking for testimonials and more info – and in those cases where I have been asked to write people directly I tell them the way I see things in that particular city/agency (both the good and the bad). i give the good, bad and ugly. For example, i may tell them that Agency "A" website is all hype - but that the girls are real and the staff is excellent or that city "B" is very hot and the beaches are ugly but here are some fun things to do.... That is what i thought this board is supposed to be about. sharing the good and the bad.

Not to beat a dead horse, but that looks like it just might be a canned response they send out to many people.  It's pretty generic.  What specific question was it in response to?

I would agree with Brazilpro that you're reading too much into a short response.  One that probably took more effort to send than the other reply you posted (which looks like a generic sales pitch).

Patrick, it may have been a canned response but it answered my questions completely, confirmed pricing and program and is well written giving me the confidence to invest my time and money with them. I did not get that from the other guy. Course, I didn’t know the new guy was out fishing and responding to my email via text messaging if that is anyway to answer a potential client. I will tell you this – I certainly would not handle my clients as such and should expect no less as a potential customer. Also, Brazilpro said there was some notice about calling the agency – but I did not receive any such communication and would not have bothered with it anyhow.  I guess this is like the difference between Republicans and Democrats – I am a believer in good customer service including using care in the handling of potential customers writing me and by the way am voting for Bush (only cause Uribe is not running here)!

it was not a "canned reply" per se but a quick/short reply made from a cellphone on a boat in the ocean - asking the e-mailer to call - which he choose NOT to do.

when i call, Mike answers all of my questions (especially regarding some of the recent "accusations" made against him on this board!!!) straigthforward and honestly..

Bottom line remains: Mike is an american businessman who WAS NOT satisfied with his experience with several Cali
agencies and went out and invested $500,000 to create his own first class agency. The local competition did not like this and will do or say anything to bring him down - and they WON'T SUCCEED because they simply can't provide the value that he does!!

I challenge anyone who travels to Cali to visit and compare agencies and tell me there is a better value then calivip elsewhere!! THERE ISN'T!!!

Wow, you know a lot about Calivip!  Is the $500,000 information available at their website, or did you gleen that from discussion with the owner?  Why is it that you joined this forum over a year ago, but have not posted anything other than the few posts on the board at the moment in defense of Calivip?

Why does your post seem like just as much of a sales pitch as the (most likely) canned response that Papi received?  By the way, it was a message he received from some other agency, not calivip.  Seems you were so emotional that you didn't notice that.  Why such fanatical support for an agency?  Forum participants generally are more like Papi.  They distrust and (often) draw negative conclusions too quickly.

I'm not saying you're a shill, but I can certainly understand Papi's reasoning behind the accusation, and he probably didn't bother searching to see that these are your only posts in the more than 1 year you've been here like I did.

I have spent most of my time in Brazil the past year.
I recently made my first trip to Cali and have also
talked at length with the owner re: the info/responses i have posted etc. etc
As i am returning on Thursday it seemed like a timely and
proper thing to do. Nothin wrong for KUDOS for a job
well done and Mike has done a GREAT job with calivip, and
believe me - if i find out otherwise i will be the first to
post as such...

Patrick, I think we both have some of the same suspicions since this brazilpro user started posting the other day.

Not only does he seem to know a LOT about CaliVIP, but he also seems to know everything about the owner, Mike Cannon, who he is defending as if his life depends on it. Also, if you take the time to look carefully at brazilpro’s  posts and compare them to those posts made by CaliVIP owner Michael Cannon under the user ID of “E Michael C”, you may notice an amazing similarity between the writing styles (grammar, punctuation, capitalization, etc.). It is my educated guess that both posters are one in the same. I don’t have access to the IP addresses of their posts, so I won’t quite bet my life on it (yet). As far as the other new user who has been defending CaliVIP, I don’t have enough evidence to make any judgements.

Also, I am receiving SPAM e-mail from CaliVIP. I received a SPAM message from them on 10/22 promoting their Haloween party in Cali. Since the only connection that I have ever remotely had with Colombia is that I sometimes post here on the P-L Latin Forum, this guy Mike Cannon (AKA brazilpro) is obviously harvesting e-mail addresses from the registered users here. If he wishes to, he is welcome to try to explain how else he got my e-mail addy :-)

Electronic evidence does not support your theory.  While it's not difficult to "look" like two users, someone would have to go out of their way and not slip up ever to pull it off.  I checked for any match and didn't see anything that supported the theory.

maybe it is Mike dressed up in drag for his well publicized Halloween party! All kidding aside – I did read some negative things about him before but now some of the regulars here seem to be giving him the benefit of the doubt. I hope that he turns out to be an honest broker offering a viable alternative in LA. None of these agencies are perfect so maybe this will end up being a premier locale. But it sounded to me earlier that his PC guy felt he got burned by him and then I read other negatives. We will need to hear back from more pioneers here staying at the house. I was interested in going until I got a 6-word reply back from him. Maybe he will send me another email when he returns from his fishing trip and make in 12-words doubling the information on his agency.

Patrick, dont forget that there was a lot of negative things earlier written here about this agency. But then later it seems that there was some interest so i went on to explore things further. i could not believe the response i got from them or lack thereof and pointed that out - then i get bombed by Brazilnut. maybe these guys will be good but who knows - think i'm going to spend my pesos elsewhere for the time being. maybe wait until a reliable source like Pete reports back, etc. and not just on a party - folks that have stayed there.
