Check out www.fairus.org.  This site is very informative in setting forth the impact that illegal immigration is having on our economy and our society.  This is one area where I disagree with the Libertarian Party, which tends to favor free movement of labor across borders. They tend to view immigration solely in economic terms to the exclusion of social costs.

Sorry for the diversion from the gregass/fuzzyone sideshow.  Speaking of illegal immigration, why did gregass migrate over here from the Asian board?  Has he EVER posted ANYTHING that has to do with LA, or have all of his posts simply been criticisms of other longer-standing P-L members?  Wizard, as my personal researcher, please check this out and get back to me by the close of business.

Burbuja

Maybe we should take a trip over to the Asian board and help gregas keep his facts straight over there.

In many respects, gregass is just like the worst kind of illegal immigrant.  He demands a disproportionate share of our services, causes a lot of trouble, and contributes nothing.

You are an unbelievable dumbass Fruitcake, I feel sorry for your wife, she's involved with a Childish Loudmouth Jerk for a so-called Husband. Your Arrogrant Posts on this forum shows You as a total Boastful Fool. I can't believe that an intelligent Lawyer would waste his time on this forum talking childish Trash, especially when he got a wife.

Good website. I like how you can click onto any of the fifty states to see the effects of illegal immigration upon that particular state. I thought that Florida would be hit the hardest but I was wrong. California has the most number of illegal immigrants by far. Florida ranks 7th.

In Phoenix, if there were no illegal immigrants, lots of businesses would close or run lots slower and be more expensive.

I have better things to worry about than people who want to support their families and give them a better life.  I'd actually like to trade them for people who were born here and are too lazy to work.

Kented: Are you in Costa Rica now? How's the process going with getting your wife back to the States? I believe you posted earlier about being married to a Colombian prior to your most recent. Any observations on the differences between these two women as related to country of origin? The reason I ask is because of the obvious differences between Costa Rica and Colombia. One country is very stable while the other lets several thousand rebels hold it hostage. I'm wondering if this can be traced somehow to something missing in the general Colombian population. You would think that the overwhelming majority of people in Colombia would be able to overcome the will of a few thousand. It just doesn't add up. Anyway, enjoy your posts.

Hi Rebel,

Thanks for asking. I was in CR between the 8th and the 18th.  The first weekend we drove with kids to Playa Dominical (site of a SI swimsuit edition in the 90s) and then the Manual Antonio.  The following weekend, a romantic twosome to Playa Tamarindo.  CR has great scenery and natural beauty and you can safely rent a car and see it.  In Manual Antonio, three white-faced monkies ate their breakfast in a tree within ten feet of our balcony.  Way cool!!!

Colombianas have a huge ex pat community and since 10% of Colombians have emmigrated, they have a huge support system here and a large Plan B with knowledge of how to beat immigration law.

My wife is poor but she loves CR and doesn't want to leave.  She knows no one in the US, speaks no English and wouldn't have a clue how to survive here without me.

My ex Colombian wife has a job and a car (with payments).  She's planning on buying a house.  Our divorce was a small bump in the road for her and didn't stand in the way of her larger goals.

Between June 23 nad July 12 (14 business days), the BCIS finish February 10th I-129f petitions and began February 11th.  [14 days to process 1 days petitions].  In 7 1/2 weeks, they have processed 5 days of petitions.  Our official petiton date is February 25, so we lack 10 business days.  I can't believe this ridiclous delay is due to a swarm of people marrying abroad at the same time.

The rebels who hold Colombia hostage are extremely wealthy due to drug money and their are fighting a guerilla war in virtually inaccesably mountainous terraine.  Like all guerilla movements, popular support (they are the economy and the only source of wealth in these regions plus they also are ruthless) makes them formidable.  I don't look at this as a flaw in the Colombian character but it is a major factor in people wanting to leave.

The big difference is that Colombianas all have a Plan B if the marriage fails and I would personally not look for a wife in Colombia for that reason.  That doesn't mean that there aren't tons of great women there and honest Colombianas looking for a husband and secure future would be more anxious to move to the US than Costa Ricans would be.

I will make this as simple as I can:  You have made a familiar ECONOMIC argument.  My main objection to ILLEGAL immigration is SOCIAL.

Can you comprehend that?  Would it help if I begin all my posts with the words, "Back in Costa Rica...."?

You do have better things to worry about.  One of them is learning how to read.

This sounds like the rantings of the seventh graders I teach.  I know your are an attorney but that doesn't mean that you are right and everyone else is wrong.  It also doesn't mean you are smarter than anyone else.

Name calling is childish and arrogance is not a becoming personal quality.

Kented, I've embarrassed you on post after post.  You fail to read or comprehend the most basic of ideas.  You constantly misstate facts, and then go blithely on your way when I call you on them.  As in your idiotic post above, you lamely attempt to combat the specific with the general.  The premise that your attitude is based on is false and condescending.  You have no business teaching seventh graders.  They should be teaching you.

...with childest rants.  Do you actually know any mature people who resort to name calling?  Not even lawyers do this.

Everyone of my posts here deals with substance.  You are correct that my last post was condescending as is this one.

Bubbles,

First you post a politcal thread and then blast kented for responding... Yes, he addressed your topic in the manner which most Americans view illegals in this country, which is the economic implications... By you own volition even your libertarian party views illegals as to their economic impact as apposed the social impact... Just because kented provided anecdotal information related to the topic and not some high-brow analysis of the social implications of illegal aliens flooding our country doesn't give you the right to eviscerate him for the views...

Your intellectual high ground is getting a little old...

Now respond with some pithy remark...

If you can lose the emotions and see where Burbuja is coming from, you will see that he enjoys stirring up the pot (like myself). The difference between us is that he doesn't consider for a moment contrasting points of view and can and will be downright condensending (at times with merit but without excuse). This shows a lack of maturity on his part, again, this is only my personal opinion and many seem to agree with me on that call.
I have resorted to name calling and corrected myself for behaving childishly. If you look beyond the surface you will see a man willing to back up his statements. I don't always agree with him, but I will respect anyone that is willing to do that. If you don't agree with his style, don't read or respond to his posts.
I'd still love to have him in the ring for a friendly boxing match. But that is another story.
