Jim,

Since Kevin was a recent house guest, you may want to box up Lori's keyboard outside in the fresh air. You don't want to knock Lori out when she opens it. ;o))

I am not sure if I can use Lori's keyboard. My keyboard uses symbols of my native language and is designed for 12 finger use.

Hi Lori,

I was "normal" until I saw Tim Burton's "Planet of the Apes" last night. This morning I tried to type on my keyboard with my toes. ;o)) They are too big! Are you sending Jim your old keyboard? I know he is going to miss your posts using it. To tell you the truth, I was starting to enjoy the crazy posts myself.

Paulv and Anna rarely post here.  They are always on Mag-anak Yahoo.  But I suspect Anna, at least, reads these posts, matbe Paulv also.  I think CC quit when the new password was created.

Lots of guys stop once they are married.  Lots of other lurkers too.  I know od at least 4 that read it daily and have never once posted.

... in response to Members Update. Don2222 Vilma and Derek ..., posted by Dingo on Jul 28, 2001

Hi Dingo,
 Thanks for the kind words.
Vilma and I are doing great.  It is very surprising as to how quickly and easily Vilma is adjusting to life in America. She calls home about once every two weeks, and does
not seem as homesick as I would expect her to be.
Of course, our house is turning pinker every day.  I had lived here for eight years as a bachelor, and the house was
in major need of being redecorated.
I hate working in the yard, but Vilma seems to love it, and the yard is looking better every time I return from work.
Vilma was a little intimidated by my family at first, but they have always liked her, and I think she is now comfortable around them 95% of the time.
We have had a few minor communication problems, but I think that would be true with any new marriage.

Actually I have never left this board.  I read at least part of it every day.  When I first joined this board over two years ago, one of the things that I noticed was that the
"veterans" of the board would stop posting shortly after
bringing their wife or fiance to America. I never could understand why this happened.  One of the people I miss most is Tim,  he was one of the most helpful people that I have ever seen on this board.
Now that I am one of the "veterans" I think I understand why so many people leave this board.
Before I brought Vilma to America I was eager for any and all information that would help with the process.
At that time I tolerated the bathroom humor, the women bashing, the "exclusive club" attitude, the bickering, the oversensitivity, etc.
Most of the people that made this board special for me have left.
A good example of this is the fact that Dingos question
about OF-169 has been left unanswered, while the bathroom humor gets all the attention.
Unfortunately I do not know the answer to his question, but
I feel strongly that the knowledgeable people that could answer his question have been driven from this board.
I am forever grateful to this board for making it possible to have a wonderful wife named Vilma.
But,  I do wish some of us would think a little more before they speak.

Thanks,

Don

Hi Don!

It was nice to see that you read the board and I’m glad that you and Vilma are doing well.

However, I must take exception with your comments about how the board has supposedly changed for the worse. Come on now Don. Dingo posts a question on 7/27 and you come on here on 7/28 and blast us because we haven’t answered his question yet? What’s with that? I don’t know which “parts” of the daily posts you have been reading, but I think that the people here have been extremely helpful and giving whenever someone asks for advice or information. Just because we don’t answer the question immediately or within 24 hours, doesn’t necessarily mean that we are ignoring him. IMO, it’s better to not answer at all if you don’t know the answer or are not sure. Bad advice or information can be much more harmful than no information at all.

Also, the information and advice given here is at no cost to the requester, as in F R E E ! We don’t get paid or ask for anything in return for our help. I’m sorry, but I just get a little irked when someone doesn’t like the advice they received or complains if their question wasn’t answered promptly. You know, some of us have a life also. Then there are those that complain that they have to read through all the jokes to find the real information. So, what do they expect for free?

As far as the “humor” that goes on here, I personally find it refreshing and healthy. And Patrick already said he doesn’t mind. So, my advice for those that can’t stand a little joke once in a while is don’t read it, or go pay an attorney $300/hr for help with you visa! Anyway, Dingo’s question has been answered now, so you can sleep easy tonight.

But I do agree with you that Tim was probably the most helpful guy on here. And he always added an articulate voice of moderation to the board. I also miss his participation.

Say hi to the wife.

Hi Don,

I feel strongly that the reason many of the "veterans" went away from P-L is because they no longer have a need for this board. Some stayed (and new couples joined) because they want to help and give something back. Tim and a few others may be the exception, but this board has always leaned heavily toward Filipina relationships. As I recall, Tim runs a Chinese forum.

I am glad to hear things are going well.

I used to think that also. That there were just too much bull on this board. But I really think, for us still waiting, it is important to have a place to vent and to *B*S*. Because as you know, no  one truely understands what we are going through exept for us. I know it helps me.
m As for answering questions about Visa's, I am sure we do our best. Sometime we don't have the answers because we ourselves have not gotten that far. I think that is why it is important for the older ones to stick around. Hopfully, I will stick around after Thai gets here. I know I want and need advise...and will be happy to help someone else achive their goal.
m0 As for the bull that goes on here...take it for a grain of salt....some of it is just Darn funny....and I, myself need a good laugh most of the time.

Good to hear from you again.  I was thinking about you just this week.

Here's anouther point that I bet you'll experience also.

After you get your fiancee here and marry her.....you will forget about all the picky things of how you did your papers.  We did our papers and they got the job done.  So I've forgotten a lot about how the process goes.  Just this week I asked Tess, "Where are we in the process?  What do we have to do next."  She told me and I said, "Oh yeah."

Take care and keep us posted.

Hi Don222, thanks for the reply. I just went to
Derek F. Website it has a pick of his new motorcycle
so guess he has put his time to other things.
Glad you and Vilma are doing well.
I'm hoping to head back to Cebu in October/November.
NSC is done now just waiting on NVC.
Have you two found other fil/am couples in Georgia?

Take Care.
Stop by now and again.
