I do think there are good ones available, but I think you are right that the men tend to chose poorly, like I did. If you can get a hot, young woman to show interest in marrying you quickly in Colombia (like happened to me) when a similar woman in the US would not give you the time of day, it should cause us to question what is the motive.
I thought they would be more dedicated to marriage and would devote themselves to their husband after making their decision. However, many of the young Colombianas don't have that way of looking at marraige. They want a better life and are willing to use their beauty to get it. In fact, in today's El Tiempo on-line (Bogota's major newspaper) there is a story about the proliferation of young, middle-class prostitiutes in Colombia.
So if a man is chosing a Colombiana that isn't way out of his league, if they seem to be happy together, and if he doesn't see other red flags, there is probably a very good chance of having a happy marriage. I think the average man in this search ends up on a different path like I did: chasing the sweetest eye-candy he can find. There are some very beautiful Colombianas!
I'm still not sure if I have chosen wisely this time, but she truly seems to love me and it appears that I will give marriage another try. At least at my age the breakups don't seem to be as painful emotionally. Financially can be another issue, but I've already passed the largest expenditures, so I'll get my prenup and takes my chances.
