I used them because they have a deal where I can buy a card for her to call me from Colombia.
This avoids the sending of cash.
This is good for me because I want her to be able to call me
when she wants. I can't get collect calls where I can call right back because I use a cell.

I looked around the site and while the cheapest rate posted for calls from the US to Colombia is 5.9 cents per minute, the cheapest rate I see for calls from Colombia to the US is 29.8 cents a minute.  I have not looked into calling cards from Colombia to the US so I don't know what the norm is, but that seems extremely expensive.  Is that a good rate or did I do something wrong looking up the rate?

This is a better rate than she will get in Colombia.  The calls from Colombia to the US are much more expensive than from the US to Colombia.  My novia claims that the cards she buys in Colombia turn out to be more than $1 a minute.  If you trust her you can always give her the pin number to your AT&T card (if you have the international plan).  That may be a little less expensive, but not much.  Also, in Colombia you can't always call international from all of the house or even hotel phones.  I think they have to be explicetly connected to have an International telephone capability.

If you find another card that lets you call from Colombia then please let me know. I looked at about 15 different ones.

I prefer one calling from Colombia because it saves me from sending cash, I can then get a call on my cell, and she can call when she wants.

I use a cell, so I can't receive collect calls and I want her to able to be covered for calling.
This isn't something I make a habit of, so it doesn't put a bite on me.

As I said before, I haven't looked into calling cards from Colombia to the US, but I was wondering if you can buy a card IN Colombia that would be cheaper than the one you saw on the web.  Have you looked into this at all?
