In regards to the "Your Dreaming Posts..."

Hey, I live here. There are so many different thoughts of how to get rid of the FARC and why it is possible and impossible. So many theories as to why it is different this time and why it is the same this time with a new President. Why this the same as Viet Nam and why it isn't.
There is no point in arguing about it. No one knows for sure what's going to happen. It is a matter of wait and see. But, I will say this. The FARC did threatnen to kill all the Mayors of the cities and the Justices if they didn't resign. Alot did resign only to go back to work a few days later. I think one of those mayors was killed and I believe 10 mayors did not go back to work. But, point of fact all the Justices and all the Mayors that did go back to work, are still breathing. There are Gringos that have been here for many years (the longest I know of one person living here as been 15 years)and some of them lived here in the bad old days of the Cartels. Miami Vice days. These guys still run the same establishments thay had back then. No bombs or attacks on their places. No dead horse heads in their beds. Remeber too that the FARC also made a statement that there were going to fly a plane into the Presidential Inagauration and they never came to fruition. But, flying propane tanks did just fine.
Anyways, what I am getting at is, the FARC and other groups make outrageous claims. Are they serious? You betcha. Do they have the capability to find every Gringo in Colombia and take them hostage? No. And more, what is a Gringo? Try to convince a FARC hostage taking team that you are from Holland or Ireland and not from the US. Yeah, that'll work. The main job of the FARC and other groups like them is to instill fear in the population. I.E. the word Terrorist. Like I said before I live here. I went to Blockbuster and rented a movie, went and had lunch, then went shopping. You still see women wearing American flag shirts that became poular sometime ago and kids still walking to school. It appears to me, Colombians are taking today like any other day. Another day with the FARC in their country.
This is one of those times that people just have to see how this plays out and only time will see if this situation gets better. And, if it does get better, it will get worse first. Some of you will be right and some of you will be wrong and some of you will be both. But, don't feed into this by making wild assumptions and predictions. Let's just wait to see what happens. In any case, I'll be the first to know. LOL!
