I'm trying to explain to my novia in Cali that she needs two photographs for the K-1 Visa we are applying for. She is having difficulty understanding my request, because the INS in the USA requires them to be a certain way and my translation is bad. First does any board member here know of a place in Cali where she can get the photographs taken. Also these are the spec for the Visa photographs:

The photographs must be:

1-Natural color photographs taken within 30 days of the application.

2-They must have a white background, printed on thin paper and be glossy and not retouched.

3-They must show a three-quater frontal profile showing the right side of your face, with your right ear visible (no hats on head)

4-The photographs must be no larger than 2 inches by 2 inches (2x2), with the distance from the top of the head to just below the chin about 1 1/2 inches.

If someone can help I would be grateful.....Craig

This is a URL for INS foto specifications when you file your petition with INS:

The colombian people are not really familiar with the INS foto requirement in Cali so it is a little difficult.

Try this location:

Foto Piamonte en la calle 5 con carerra 66 in barrio Limonar.  We have also heard that Foto Akerman is also recommended.

To be sure, you need to somehow get the instruction sheet to your prometida so she can bring it with her to the foto shops so they can see the example.  I do not know if you can fax it to her if she does not have it? I believe it also available on Gary Bala's website if she has access to a computer and printer.

This is what I did.

Good luck

My fiancee recently got her K-1 in Bogota.  She had her pictures taken in Cartagena.  The embassy told her the pictures were unacceptable.  She got her pictures re-taken in Bogota.  The embassy accepted the new ones.

My advice is to have her pictures taken in Bogota, preferably by a foto place near the embassy that knows the embassy's standards.

Thanks for the help except I need the photographs here in the USA because my attorney is submitting them to the INS in Texas. So she needs to get them in Cali and FedEx to me here in Florida

I saw a place (that takes these type of photos) inside the governacion when I was there with my novia to pick up her colombian passport. I'm sure your girl will know where it is because it is in the waiting room where colombians wait to get their passports.

  Hope this helps , Wayne
