Hi Bear,

Yes, I have never seen any gang's here either. Also, there is no way that this city can have the worst air pollution. I don't believe that. I have seen the smog in L.A. many times and never have I seen smog here. I just don't care for the flatness of the place, but then again there are no hill's in Florida either!
LOL! Just a better beach close by.

The medical center is the best. I once went to M.D. Anderson cancer Center, because the doc thought I might have throat cancer, (luckily I didn't), and the way they treated me from the moment I walked in the door was wonderful. If I ever get sick I will be right back here! Also, Ben-Taub's trauma ceter is the best in the nation, they say. Been there too. very good.

True about the Filipina nurses in the med center. Place is crawling with them. Smiley I think the BEST thing about Houston is the people. The spirit of Texas thing. I'll miss that. However, I will be very happy not to have Shiela Jackson Lee as my congresswoman anymore! I live in the notorious 18th Dist..

I have bad mouthed Houston before, but truth is, it's just time for a change, I have nothing against the city or it's people. Except for city official's that is. What a bunch of bird-brained moron's. Just my opinion. Smiley

Poor guy!!! Shelia Jackson Lee!!!  And Mayor Brown and his toy train too!!!

I never did figure out how to meet those Filipinas at the medical center though.  I did know a few at Methodist but they were married.  Trying to set me up with all their relatives.  But by that time I had met Honey and wasn't intersted anymore.

What you needed was my handy guide, "How To Pick Up Filipina Nurses, By A Total Frigging Moron."  Miami: Quackman & Beeflepound 1981 (out of print) My heart and soul, as well as many first-hand experiences went into that book. I got slapped, jabbed with needles, and called names many times (most, I didn't understand), so that others wouldn't have to. It was truly a labor of love. ;o))

I offered a "lifetime" money back guarantee. It was risk free! If you didn't at least have one Filipina RN friend or penpal before you died, I would completely refund the $19.95 purchase price on your death bed. Provided of course you had a legible  receipt or proof of purchase. It worked like a charm. It only took me 20 years to convince a Filipina RN to marry me. ;o))

I feel generous today, so I will give away one important secret to the Filipina RN mating rituals. Never hurt yourself, to become her patient. Filipina nurses are very professional, and it will be very difficult to ever break or cross the Patient/Care Provider relationship. If you saw the movie, "There's Something About Mary," you will know exactly what I am talking about. The character "Tucker" breaks his back on purpose, so "Mary," the orthopedic surgeon will provide care for him. He does eventually get slightly past the patient/care provider relationship with a tremendous amount of effort, to almost become a friend. Unfortunately love is never in the future. In fact since my guidebook is out of print, it would be a good idea to rent this movie and pretend "Mary" is a Filipina health care professional. In the end she falls for the humble guy, "Ted," played by Ben Stiller. But, especially take note of the character "Pat" AKA "Choppers," played by Matt Dillon. He almost pulls off the victory with his false "humble and intelligent" approach. Unfortunately he got overzealous. One thing he did that was pure genius, was to come up with a great nick name, "Kintanti." Which means, "noble man who is loved by many animal who in kind he loveth, too." A good humble Filipino nickname such as Hey Joe, Loko-Loko, Gago, Tiwali, Limampu, or Mandaraya would serve the same purpose.

Good Luck! Shocked))))))))

Hey Greg,

If you would have followed the advice on this board, you would have called in for the birth certificate. My wife got all her papers by phone from NSO & delivered to her door in about 2 weeks.

It took me 3 times that long to get my birth certificate here in California.

Hi!!! Butterfly lives in Iloilo, so she received our Son's birth certified documents from NSO in Iloilo before traveling to Embassy. The Embassy refused to accept our Son's birth certificate from Iloilo informing her that they only accept NSO certificate from Manila..She tried to order it by phone from NSO Manila, but they told her to travel to the office, she had to travel back and forth for over a month before she finally received it. Ray, she's a very good sweet Pinay. Shocked))) Mr. Peabody

How's it going over there? Hope you are enjoying yourself. Thought I would respond with a few points.

Which is worse, a corrupt government or an overzealous one?
In the corrupt government, all it usually takes is a few pesos to get things done. In the overzealous one it takes an act of congress. Our overzealous one is slowly taking away ALL your rights. Just try kicking little gregory's bottom in public in the US, even in fun, or if he deserves it, and see where you wind up.

Which is worse, a school where the parent has to supplement their childs education or the school where you have to send them off in a bulletproof vest? Better to age quickly than not at all. Bulletholes age rather quickly too!

Which is worse, a doctor on a limited budget or one that is only interested in the insurance companies money? Doctors and hospitals here are not always so great either. You still need to do some research before trusting a medical practitioner. Did you know that in the US more people die from incorrect prescriptions than from cancer? Seems nobody can read the doctors writing.

As for kidnappings, they want rich american babies. Babies that will make the world cry, not a half filipino one that few people would care about. (Sorry, truth hurts sometimes)

My 60 day visa extension cost me $30 in the RP, plus about a $10 fee. I got it through a travel agent, thereby completely eliminationg dealing with the government personally. It was unstressfull and uneventful and well worth the $10.

Get out of the city, Greg, and you will get out of most of the smog and unhealthy living environment. Go back to Iloilo, or better yet someplace else like Bohol, Negros, or one of the other 7000 or so islands waiting for you. Still need to be in a city? Try one of the many with 500,000 or less population, like Cagayan De Oro or Dumaguette, You'll find reasonably clean air and big city conveniences, and VERY friendly people. The chance of a kidnapping there? MUCH less than being in an earthquake or drive by shooting in SF!

Best wishes whatever you do. Remember, in this land of milk and honey, the milk is sometimes sour, and honey is nothing but bee dung!!!   Smiley

Goooood to hear from you old buddy smile. I thought you disappeared lol. Did you turn over a new leaf??? Last time I read your Post, your blasting the Filipinas smile. Anyway, I've dealt with alot of Mess here in R.P. I myself believe in luxury living, you know living off the Hog hehehehe. Even living here in Malate, I bought two large check in baggages full of luxury items hehehehehe. I cannot bear living comfortably back in the states while my handsome Son is living out in the Jungle with bugs biting him, never really owning anything(becuz the Filipinos believe in sharing everything smile), the smog, the traffic, the possible of problems in schools becuz he's a half breed, the this and the that...If I'm gonna live high off the Hog, then my only Son must live the same. Unfortuate, I don't want to be sending hundreds of $$$$$$$'s to the Philippines each month while he's living some place I don't want him to be..It's my Mahal's decision to send him ahead of herself to the States until she can join us..I voiced my opinions, she just agreed. Of course she wants him to be with her, but she wants only the best for him and she feel that's in America. I'm tired of daily corruption here, I don't want our Son to be bought up among this Mess. Larry, pls tell our friend at Mag-Anak(Jingle Bell) that I said Kumusta. To be frank with you Larry, I no longer enjoy dealing with the Philippines, I only want my Son and his Mother..but dealing with everything here is a drag, especially the government offices, etc...They never seem to know anything..Ask questions, the respond...Sorry, I don't know..Makes me want to start screaming and pulling out my hair lol lol lol..Take care my friend..Mr. Peabody

So true Larry...And I also don't see to many Nipa huts here next to the pacific ocean for only $25 a night. For the price I pay for a weekend splurge in Santa Barbara....I could live and eat well for two weeks in PI. It is indeed a different world. (I miss my fresh morning tuba..)

Hi Zeb.

I alway's prefered something light in the morning. Like Tanduay E.S.Q., it's only 65 proof and goes well on corn flakes. Doesn't make the flakes dissolve as easy. Smiley

Hi Zeb,

Actually, it's Houston. I have an older brother who lives in S. Calif., though. Matter of fact tommorow he is having an operation for Prostate cancer. All prayer's from the board would be appreciated. He is my oldest bro. He is 45 w/ a wife and 2 teenage daughter's. He's very scared. So am I, and the rest of our family.

Anyway, tommorow, I go to Fla. for 2 week's to see Dave's purple g-string up close. Not too close! Smiley Also to find a place to live for us. Then it is back for two weeks and drive us there, on July 15.

Can't wait to get out of here. I came to Houston for only a month and somehow ended up staying here 20 yrs. on and off. On and off because I lived in the RP a couple of times during those 20, but alway's come back here. Looking forward to doing alot of fishing! Smiley

Jay, your brother will be in our prayers tonight..My Father had prostrate cancer in his 50's and had to have an operation also. He made it through fine. Unfortunetly, though he started showing signs of parkinsons in his mid 60's and passed away from it in his mid 70's. Now I have to think about that ahead..(Oh well, Gods will be done). But anyway...So you managed to survive the rains there..huh? Keep us posted on things with Florida.
