Hello Guys,

It has been a while since I felt I had something worth while to post.  I have made a statement or two here and there every now and then.  But as far as I was concern it did not have much to do with what this board is about... finding serious ladies outside of our borders for marriage.  It has taken a long time (at least it seems like it), but I have made contact with 3 ladies that have excellent potential.  I would have been satisfied with just one lady... but 3, that a blessing.  When I first started this process I thought I would have arrived at this point much sooner.  However, after more than a year of searching I have finally made contact with 3 ladies that are serious.  To bring everyone up to date here is the situation.  This post is actually several weeks old.  I am just getting around to posting it.

I have made contact with 3 ladies in 2 different parts of the worlds.  Two are in Latin America and one in Asia.  I will list the ladies by age since I made contact with each around the same time.

The 1st lady is from the Philippines.  Yeah, I know I know!  This is the Latin board.  But let me do this.  In my later posts I will begin to get into more details about each... how are they similar; how are different.  Cool everyone?  Let me get back to where I left off.  She is 24yo (25 in September) and catholic.  She works as an industrial engineer for a Japanese company located in the Philippines.  She lives with her family (father, mother and younger brother).  I think her family is well to do.  Her father works for or is involved with the government and her mother is housewife.  She has 2 older siblings (a brother and a sister) and a younger brother.  They all involved in some engineering career field (electrical, drafting and civil, respectively).  I did not plan on making contact with someone this young.  Thats a ten year difference.  I did not noticed it until after the we got past the introduction part and decided to correspond with each other.  She is very sweet, sincere, direction oriented and frank.

The 2nd lady is from Peru (Lima).  I owe an order of thinks to OnePHD for this one.  You can not always judge a book by it cover.  Peru is excellent hunting ground.  She is 27yo ( just turned 27) and catholic.  She works as an office administrator.  She lives with her family (mother and sister).  She has 2 yrs of college (was an Economics major).  She just started learning English about 3 months ago.  She is progressing very well.  She admits she does not pronounce it that well.  I think as she uses it more with native English speakers that will change.  On the other side the coin, she reads and writes it very well.  In just the short time I have been communicating with her I can see improvements each time she writes me.  She is sweet, sincere, active.  I instantly made a connection with her from the get go.

The 3rd lady resides in Brazil, Fortaleza to be exact.  She is 31yo and lives with her parents.  She works in a Pharmacy.  Out of the 3 ladies, her English is the least developed.  It is very basic.  She has expressed a sincere desire to become better at it.  So far all our communication has been through letter writing.  It is a slow way to communicate with someone compared to email, but it has its advantages (very romantic, privacy and a form of intimacy different from the other methods).  Besides correspondence by letter writing still works.  She has a telephone, but there is that language barrier.  She is very sweet, sincere and wants someone respectful and loyal.  She keeps to a very small circle friends.  There are some things I can not answer or say about this lady yet.  Because we are writing letters to each other it takes time before questions can be answered.  From what I have learned so far she does not fit the mold one has come to associate with Brazilian females in general.  To be more specific, I am referring to the reputation of Brazilians women in large cities like Rio.

Well that is it for now.  In my next post, I will give some aspect about each lady's character and what I find attractive about each.

Wow! Great news.

For the woman in Fortaleza, she might be able to get web access at mall, phone company, or one of the local English schools.  For us, there is free web access at one of the English schools, all you have to do is get a library card with them, also free.  They have yahoo.com.br and zip.com.br to make free email accounts.

Anyway, good luck with your choices, it sounds very encouraging.

Thanks HappyInBrazil,

When I write her next, I will ask her can she use one of these services.  This is the second lady from Brazil to reply back to me.  The first lady was interested but she was involved with someone already.  How long ago where you last in Fortaleza?

I have another question.  It regards learning Portuguese.  The local university teaches a Portuguese class.  But the class is only taught during the fall and spring semesters (Portuguese 101 and 102).  The intermediate levels are taught on a as need basis.  I do not want to wait until September to start learning.  Some of the large bookstore chains like book-a-million carry a few Portuguese learning sets.  Have you every use any of these?  Which would you recommend?  I was looking at this set on CD.  I forgot the maker set.  Their claim is that they use the same training technique to train U.S. ambassadors.

Thanks,

yc

Just wondering, have you met these girls? They all seem great. I have a friend that is 42 and married a 22 year old phillipino and things are going very well with them. One thing to keep in mind, I know you were describing their jobs and education and everything else but the only thing that seperates the educated ones from the uneducated is how much money their family has. I am sure many girls from poorer families would love to go to college if they had the opportunity. That is why I look at personality much more then education. When I first started my search, I was looking for a computer programmer, or engineer or something like that, that spoke fluent english and I met lots of them but they had no personality. I picked the girl I clicked with most, who only has maybe a year of college but I am much happier with her then any of the highly educated girls I met.

Hi mck,

Thanks for the input.  I am right there with you.  To answer your question, the answer is no.  I have not met any of them yet.  We are in the getting to know ya stage.  As of right now, I am sizing up their qualities to see which I would be most compatible with.  What I have stated is based on what has been discussed so far... 1) What we both are looking for in a partner?  2) Reasons for seeking someone aboard.  3) What's her expects from a husband?  4) What she believes her husband should and/or would expect from her?  5) Where does God come in her life?  Does she practice it?  6) What is her expectation once she arrives here in the U.S. (that is if she is interested in moving her)?  7) Does she want to have children?  If so, when and how many?

The qualities or attributes that are most important to me is that she must be a woman of faith (Christian).  That she practices it.  She be family oriented (put family before a career).  She have good morals and values.  I hope that she be an adaptable person and be emotionally stable.  As far as education goes, the jury is still out on that one.  From past experiences, education does not equate to intelligence.  There are a few other things I am looking for (affectionate, loyal, frankness, sense of humor, etc) but the above I consider most important.

Well I try to give regular postings as how things are going with the ladies.  Later!!!
