Hilton, I was in Bogota when you posted your message about staying at the Andino Royal Hotel.  I thought I would try to call you at the hotel.  I called the hotel at the number you gave but they said you werent registered.  I called twice.  Once on Friday the 12th and the second time on Saturday, the 13th.  I talked to the nite clerk on Friday and the day clerk on Saturday morning.

I know your name is Hilton M.  I wont divulge your last name.  You must be incognito.  I described your appearance to both desk clerks and they said there was no one staying there fitting that description. Then I said to them that they must be mistaken because surely they would remember the tall, handsome, athletic, charming American that was entertaining the hotel guests at the piano.  They said that is odd because they dont have a piano.  You must have been playing songs on your laptop.

Hilton, I know you are not worried about the FARC.  I dont think they can get visas to Joplin, Missouri.

A hotel has a lot of people come and go, it is quite possible a desk clerk could not remember.

Maybe I am a little naive or just trusting but I just can't see Hilton putting us on in such detail.Sounded to me like he was at the Andino Royale.I couldn't find the piano story in his posts.
No offense Wendell but Hilton has been around here alot longer than you and posted in great detail and I would believe his version over yours if this is anything other than a misunderstanding.
But it does raise the question,Hilton, where the hell are you?I expect him to chime in to clear up any confusion.
And I am waiting for one hell off a trip report out of this whole adventure, which has lots of time yet to unfold,as in when Hilton hits Cali.
Hilton,if you are putting us on it would be like the time I found out there was no Santa Claus and no easter bunny in the same day.I was in class in the second grade,we were talking about how wings cause airplanes to fly.I chimed in and said"Santa Claus's sled doesn't have wings and it flies".The resounding laughter caused me to finally believe what some kids had been telling me and my mother finally fessed up."Mom,there really isn't a Santa Claus is there?""No honey, there isn't.""And there isn't an easter bunny either?"No,there isn't."It brings up the question what else did they lie to you about.

You guys crack me up....

He has never left the country...simple as that.

But his posts are still entertaining fiction, and I enjoy reading them.

I don't remember for sure if there is a  piano in the lobby of the Andino Royale. My wife thought maybe there was and I do believe they have one in the lobby of the Pacifico Royale in Cali(same hotel chain and design).I can picture where it would be similar to in Cali but I don't remember for sure if there was one.

I hate to be such a cynic but I was thinking something along the same lines myself.  I think the tale that really got me wondering was the one where he conversed with one "fine" Colombiana at the gym for two hours in Barranquilla.  Nothing unusual about necessarily except he said he was using his computer to translate the total conversation!!  Who takes a computer to the gym in Colombia?  I guess Senor Hilton does....lol

Anyway if he's really posting from Colombia, Patrick can tell what his ISP is.  The only USA ISP's that I know of that have local numbers in Colombia are ATT and IBM.  Anyway, I hope he's for real cause his daily logs ought to be a comical read when he eventually posts them....

Hi Devil
I concur. Sometimes, fantasys can get away from us, but it is not good manners to question everyone who posts here. Most of his posts have beeen non agressive, so why bother  holding him to the truth, especially his new persona as the international man of mystery. JIM C

Hey devil
I didn't mean you. I was only explaining why I did not say anything. I think he is into major fantasy and you are right. I caught the lap top deal at the time as well as the secret life in Cali to be reported later. In the begining, I bought it, but now I think he is a sucessful mole troll. but harmless. I wish I was in Cali, but it seems a little risky to go now JIM C
