Hello board, its been a while since I posted so I am catching up and am happy to see some men happy and into relationships while traveling to South America. The question I am posing is for non-Latinios.  As I was viewing the past posts someone mentioned how surprising he was to see many Latinos from the U.S.A. in the tours. My question is how did the Latinas from Cali or Barrinquilla/Cartagena react to these Latinos compared to the white males.  Please be brutally honest about this. The comparison should be where both white and hispanic males are similar in age, attractiveness, politeness etc...If you did not see any major differences please state this--A thousands thanks--Colman

Colman - here is what I know...

Over a few years ago I went to Caracas on a TLC tour (when TLC was still going to Caracas).  One of the gentlemen on the tour was a Mexican-American doctor from the San Francisco bay area in California.  J. had recently broken up with his girlfriend and was looking for I believe a more traditional latina.  I fell into a group of guys that included J. and we started going out to various places around Caracas.  J. was very popular with our group of gringos because he could communicate with the latinas and he had a very outgoing personality.  He was alot of fun to be around.  We went to malls and he would invite the good looking girls we saw to come to the TLC fiesta.  Several ended up showing up, which was good, because in general that fiesta did not turn out that well.  I ended up meeting a woman I started a relationship with and went back several times to Venezuela to see her.  I never saw if J. ended up hooking up with anyone, but I remember many of the latinas were interested in him.  I later heard that he ended up getting back together with his old girlfriend in CA.  My honest opinion is that the latino guys, and there were more than J. on that tour, did well because they were hanging out with gringos.  One advantage for the latino guys is that they generally speak spanish and can salsa dance  There was one guy from Puerto Rico who I asked why was he going there to Venezuela to find someone.  He told me because he wanted to find a more traditional latina that one he would find in PR.

I have a close friend here in Denver who is Mexican American.  I finally got him to go to Cali last Christmas and he went to the TLC tour as well. He ended up staying in Cali 3-4 weeks.  About all he talks about now is going back because he had the time of life, like I knew he would.  I knew he would be popular because he can speak Spanish and he loves to salsa dance.  He goes to these salsa clubs here in Denver and cannot attract much attention.  What he told me is that if he is by himself somewhere in Cali, he does not attract much attention because the ladies think he is just another local latino.  If he is with gringos, it is a different story.  and once they know he is from the USA, he is very popular.  As popular, if not more, than the gringos.

His problem was that he was almost too popular because he never settled and started to focus on one.  He kept going on more dates and losing contact with some women who maybe would have worked out.  I suspect he will settle down a little more the next trip since he now knows there is a place where he can go and he is very popular, compared to here.

Colman,

I believe, you're refering to my post in regards to my visit to the "new" Latin-Love location. I wish, I could provide you with more info. The convo, I had with the Latinos from the U.S. was very brief. Our talks just centered around the "why" they made the trip south. Their reasons for going south, mirror those of the "non-latinos". I can't give you any comparisons, in regards to the reaction of the ladies to the two groups you mentioned, because I didn't speak with any of the ladies they were dating. The Latinos were between 30 & 36, average looking males. No Antonio Banderas types...(lol). What I can do, is ask Stivalis, to ask a couple of her friends (who have dated men from both groups) their impressions & get back to you. Will this work for you?

Colman,

From what I observed(Barranquilla) there was no notable difference in how the ladies treated Latinos versus the non-Latinos.

The Latinos from the U.S. were considered "gringos" just like everyone else, as far as the ladies were concerned.

The *ladies gravitated towards whoever caught their eye, or peaked their interest. Everybody I saw, Latinos and non-Latinos alike, was getting plenty of attention from ladies.

* There were a number of young ladies(18-20) that came looking for specific "types"; Young, tall, blonde hair, blue eyes...or someone resembling one of the Back Street Boys or NSync. -Hey, that's the power of cable television and MTV.

Like people here in the US, some people gravitate towards the exotic, while others gravitate towards the familiar....different strokes, for different folks.

People have said it over and over again, BUT it is the truth....BEHAVIOR was the deciding factor in how guys were received.
