Couldn't keep their word for even 24 hours. According to Associated Press AFTER the "peace talks" resumed, they have:

1)Set off bombs in Puente Quetame, damaging the police station and courthouse

2)Over run a prison in Ibague, freeing 39 rebel prisoner and killing 1 guard

3)Blown up electric pylons in Guayabal and Cubarral, leaving much of Meta department without electricity

4)Distroyed the police station in Algeciras.

I wish we´d take care of business in Alcatraz on the Atlantic, I mean Cuba, first.

Cuba is a whole different deal. Its not 1% of the country causing a problem with terrorist tactics but a government that seems to have popular support.
I think Cuba would be better off if Castro was never concieved, but I don't think they are likely to raise up against him.I think we will have a gradual(and Quicker after the old fart departs the earth)transition to democracy and market economics. If it can happen in Russia it is way overdue in Cuba.I think this can be hastened by lifting the embargo.I know this is unpopular with Cubans in the US.I think they are hoping for a complete overthrow so they can get their property back. Not likely to happen.

Perhaps the focus should be on south Florida

I'm not sure quite how you mean that but there is much focus on south Florida.Anybody who wants to win the state has to play to the Cuban population, and we saw how important the state was last time.An unpopular possition on Cuba and a presidential candidate can kiss off Florida, and if like the last election, the white house.
Along this line I just can't believe that Janet Reno thinks she can win as Florida's governor. Not only was she a very poor attorney general,as bad as I can remember with the exception of John Mitchell(he wasn't incompetent,he was a crook),she is out on her feet in any interview, comes off like a zombie.Plus there is that famous picture of a swat team guy with a gun pointed at Elian Gonzalez.I bet the Republicans are rubbing their hands hoping she gets noninated.

...the conservative pundits I´ve read are taking her very seriously. Just being incompetent and corrupt is not going to keep her out of office.

I actually burst out laughing when I saw on TV Janet Reno was going to run for governor of Florida. My thought was how out of it can she be,to think they would elect her.
Now I don't know alot about Florida politics other than the Cuban thing,if she actually has a prayer I am shocked, but if you have enough democrats???.Actually anybody with a big name always starts out ahead in the polls out of name recognition, then the scrutiny begins.I would think they would eat her alive.
I bet they give the democrats a crash course in to how to punch the stupid ballot,or maybe they would like to use it as an excuse again. This may be crude but if you can't figure out how to poke the little pin through the ballot you are too f-----g stupid to decide who will run the country.

Clinton was doing a politically correct approach to filling his cabinet, and he needed to get some women in there, boy did he pick one.Off all the attorneys in the country she is the best he could come up with?At least she was loyal and covered his butt.
I like George W.'s approach better. He is not as bright as Clinton but has way better judgement. He picked the best vice president and cabinet we have ever had in this country.Compare it to Clintons.
As you might have guessed,I am a Republican, but I actually voted for Clinton in 1992.He is  a very good communicater(way better than Reagan, who was really only good at canned speaches)and all George senior could come up with was his dog Millie knew more than these 2 bozos.I just wrote him off.I was never very impressed with him but he is a nice guy.Margaret Thatcher had to kick his butt to get him to take on Iraq.Of course Perot played the spoiler also.
But then we got them back, having Nader as the spoiler.I laughed my a-- off.If Al Gore isn't enough of an enviremental nut for you you can vote for Nader and elect Bush!
Are we getting too political here?I can't help it.Some of these subjects just bring it out of me.

clinton was not a better communicator than reagan however he was/is a better liar. clinton was/is slick as the name slick willie that followed him from arkansas to washington.
you are right about W bush he has chosen a excellent cabinet. i am an independent but have a tendency to lean to the republicans point of view simply cuz the democrats/left have gone crazy with political correctness...its out of control and im hoping G W can get it back in line.

I never met anyone who likes her. Neither the morons from the extreme right or those from the extreme left, or any one in between likes her. What is frightening is that she on the ballot in Florida.

Its time to send the troops in.
