Hay Younge Gun,
I dont know where your Lady is. ELS is good. My novia is in Cali. If your is too, I can ask her. Your novia needs learn english and you should learn some spanish. I know is hard if you live a small town like me. There is a oline spanish and english called Parlo. Is very good. TAKE CARE, Darrell

I can't even begin to imagine how someone could get
to know a woman well enough to consider marrying her
if they can't even communicate! Sounds like a recipe for
disaster to me.

If you really want to give her a gift that will last a lifetime,
learn how to speak her language. My novia has an aunt
who married a German man who hardly speaks
Spanish, and so he doesn't communicate much with
the extended family. I do speak well, and spend a lot of
time building relationships with everyone. Want to
guess which gringo is regarded as the better catch?

This will just kill some guys on here, but the venerable Houndog never has spoken a lick of Spanish, and I would have to say that he has one of, if not, the best relationships with his wife of all the people I have met during this process.

Hey, I'm not saying that's the way I would go, but it can be done, I have seen it with my own eyes.

Ironically, because he doesn't speak spanish, he's the guy that will have the first wife to be fluent in english...while mine will still be constructing sentences...Mike

With HD, it's probably best she doesn't understand him;-)

Mike, Luisa wants to take ESL classes or enroll in my college because I speak spanish at home-- she wants to practice English, and I prefer to speak in Spanish with her... those who use it and practice it learn quickly, while  guys like us are 'enablers?'

Interesting note-- Luisa wants to apply to work at our local supermarket. WE have a growing population of Guatemaltecos and mexicanos working in forestry and agriculture here, and she'd be the only Spanish speaker working there. Good way to practice southern colloquial English, also.
