Peaches,
 That's true but it's hard to find dressy/formal clothes that are intended for teenagers(which is what those sizes are for).  Also it seems as if Petite in America means short but not truly small ie short and fat.   Melly and many other filipinas are truly petite - she needs a size 0 up to a 2 depending on brand and type clothes.   Although we have found a few jeans/pants in size 0, they don't fit near as well as the ones sold in the Philippines.   They sure aren't as cheap either.

My ex-girlfriend, a Filipina I met in America after my divorce, said that whenever it came to shoes, she had to go to the kids' department.  She had a size 4 foot.

Hi Hum,

i just happened to come by this board, and noticed this discussion about me.... what steve mentioned were true.  and for your information i am 5 ft. 2 inches tall, 95 lbs. i was 126 lbs. when i got pregnant, but lost all that weight i gained after 2 months i had the baby.  wish i could keep some of it though.  i really have to work hard to gain weight. it is very difficult for me this time with the baby around.
to some i might be considered a midget... but, in the Phils. i'm just a normal size. i know u know that.

My filipina Ex-wife is 5' 2" 105 She had a hard time finding stuff too. When Steve said you were a size 0  to 2 it sounded small sorry po.. Humabdos

no need to apologize. at first 0 sizes was like unbelievable for me too.  in the phils. our sizes were small, medium , large & extra large only. no 0, 1 ,2, 6 etc.,
it's very simple. and we can easily find clothes my size there. on jeans we have to go by the size of our waistline and if it is too long they can always cut/alter it for you.

Gee Melly,

I wish that I had your problem, having to work hard to gain weight. ;o)) My fiancee has the same problem. Some of us men have a preferance for smaller women. No, we do not consider you midgets or little girls! My fiancee is smaller than you, but she is perfect to me. She would like to be taller.... You know how Filipinas are. I am happy she prefers not to wear high heels. I am not attracted to the Filipina Movie Star "ideal" of beauty. I find my fiancee much more beautiful!!!

hi dave,

  speaking of little girls, that's what some people thought of me here before.
there was one incident i can't forget, Steve & me were on the plane to Baltimore and the stewardess started handing out newspapers to passengers, she gave steve one, and she handed me some kind of a "coloring book with cartoon characters & some crayons".
i almost grab it,i looked up at her wondering. you should see the look on her face.
She was so embarassed and apologetic.  Steve was so tickled about it.  we thought it was so funny.
 in the phils. if you are tall & fair skinned you are "the beautiful" and a pointed nose is a plus too.

Your story was funny, but I can see where you could grow tired of this type of treatment. Well, at least you look young for your age.

You should have seen the trouble I had trying to find my fiancee a pair of Levi's in the US. I went to all of the major department stores and malls. I ended up having to look in the junior's section. Teenage girls, their mothers and the store personnel were acting like I was some sort of pervert. When I explained to the sales ladies why I was there, they were more helpful. But, they didn't have the proper size. They cater to the many young Latinas with big butts where I live. When they do get a few smaller sizes in, the big butts buy them and dream they will squeeze into them one day. Even the Levi's Factory Outlet Store at the mega mall didn't have size I needed. I finally bought her the smallest size I could find and she had to fix them.

The Filipinos and Latinos can have all of the pointy nosed, fair skinned, tall, blue eyed, blonde, big butted women. I much prefer my Morena beauty.

I'd make sure to bring your own shoes! I looked for over two weeks and never found a pair! 11 1/2 Wide! As for their sizes...well...seemed to me that they ran about a size small,if you want a 2x better get a 3x I agree,if your gonna go better bring your stuff with you! Besides,you can always wash your clothes! I went for 5 weeks last year and only checked one bag and had a carry on.
