Hoda,

That's exactly what I'm saying!  There are nice, compatible, and doable american women.  But, the big overall problem is that even if you live in the city, the size of St. Louis, it's still darn near impossible to find the same qualities that you can find in the 'normal' Colombian girl.

And, for me, only the best will do.  And, that's the reason why I'm going to do my best at finding a Colombian wife; preferably from Cali...

peace...

... in response to Edge...your post is interesting because...., posted by hilton on Nov 26, 2001

I never ruled out American women, but there were some things that I thought were essential and could not be dropped from a relationship that would lead to a life long marriage.  I think of looking in other countries as only trying to increase the likelyhood of meeting that person.  I am so glad I did not stop being "too picky".  Or believing the "you'll find someone" (with no suggestions on how to increase the likelyhood) placation.

By the way, my "too picky" requirements include things like:

Capable of forgiveness.
Willing to contribute equally in order to sustain a relationship.
Willing to make a lifelong commitment.
Single and have resolved past relationships.
Cooperative, rather than conflict oriented.
Stable and healthy as a person.
Capable of friendship

If someone got on my case about being "too picky", I would ask them what I should drop.  Also, I've asked people that do the "you'll find someone", is there anyone you would like to introduce me too?

I cannot express to you how fortunate I have been to have looked in other countries rather than settle for less than anyone deserves.

Happy,

There are american women, without a doubt that have all the values that I'm looking for.  But finding them is like looking for a needle in a haystack.  And, to me, it's almost a waste of time; especially knowing that there's a 56/44 female/male ratio in Colombia.

I agree with you about the kind of qualities that you are looking for.  All are valid and special.  I want the same things too.  I just couldn't squeeze all those things into my bio(laughing...).

In any case, I'm very picky.  I've had women; most women that is, tell me that 'You're too picky', 'You'll never find what you want', 'You'll always be single because nobody can fill the void that you're looking for', etc...etc...

Well, from my research on this board and from all the guys that I have talked to, who have married Colombian women(which includes one dentist in the town that I live in), I have already concluded that my best interest don't lie with american women. Period!

It's all good....it's all Cali...

Peace bro,

Hilton

I think there must be a tape with all these on it, I think I've heard all these word for word.  Usually, there will be some insinuation that you need to try fugly women instead of good looking ones too.  But, you'll notice I never mentioned anything about looks....   I think most of this too picky stuff is related to the conflict oriented desire to "put one over" on someone  rather than balance.  Too picky or too wise to be taken advantage of?

Wayne,

I can see the smoke coming out of your ears from here!
LOL...Just take a little time to learn some of the basic fundamentals in Spanish. You don't have to be fluent, just brush up on the "Who, What, Where, When, Why & How".
Watch & listen to some of the Spanish soap operas. They're just as silly in spanish as they are in english!
Listening to them, will help "Train" your ears to the language. BTW do you know how to merenque or Salsa. Merenque is easy, just follow the ladies hips & REMEMBER TO BREATHE!!! And try not to STARE TOO LONG AT THEIR HIPS!!!! Salsa will take some work!

Later...Hoda
