we talk for awhile , she seems to like me and i like her, we get our pictures taken together then call a cab she has to get home she starting a new job tomorrow. she ask me are you gonna call me, absolutely!

i go back inside, Ricardos smiling ...no problema..hey?!

next morning while eating breakfast down the stairs comes cali-vet with his bags, he is going back to Kens apt., it appears mr vet and the lady friend have talked and things are back on path so he's outta here. see ya mr vet stay in touch.

not more than 3 hours later in walks another gringo we'll call him mr X. he has just talked to cali-vet and vet recommends he check out All Colombian Girls agency. after a tour he decides he'll move in either later today or tomorrow. mrx and myself talk for some time he tells me his story and i tell him mine , mr x a real nice guy and now a good friend.

im thinking about A but im also thinking about L. i have less than 72 hours left in cali and what am i gonna do with that little time, spend it with L or A. as usual i am undecided. well i'll call them both and see what their schedule is then plan around it.

i call L she gets off work at 3:00 , i ask her if she'd like to go to dinner, she agrees then surprises me with after dinner can we go somewhere to be alone? what do you mean alone? you know alone together you and me no one else around. she says she misses me , we havent been together alone , theres always someone around, i want to be with you pack. o k i agree to pick her up at 6:00.

i call A , she has to work later but agrees to come over for a couple of hours this afternoon for a visit. A shows up and we talk and drink coca cola. she seems like a nice girl , a little young 23, a little tall 6 foot or am i short? shes a little well almost to friendly ..maybe its just her personality. she heads back to work at 2:00. i spend the rest of the afternon talking with mrx , we stop at one point and talk to some of the new girls joining( man its a steady flow of girls everyday). im watching the clock in anticipation to be with L , shes right we have had no time to ourselves, we need to hug and kiss and talk and be together ...we need to find out if we are going to make this work or forget it and tonight will be the night.

i shower , put on my best duds, lots of cologne, every hair is in place...im a little nervous but im off to L's house. as i arrive im very excited and ready to see L decked out.i knock on the door her mother answers. is L ready? pack L had to work late she wont be home till 8 or 9 tonight. i dont believe this! all my happy thoughts gone down the drain..sheeesh..what now? back to the north side!

i walk into Ricardos , mr x is relaxing on the couch. hey mr x wanna go to chipi and have a couple of coronas? we're gone! we get there and the mall is jam packed its a holiday week and there are big sales and activities goin on and the place is un walkable. we go to leno's order up baby beef and corona. we have to wait for a table  they are all full. we cannot believe the huge numbers of absolutely beautiful women walking around the mall. they are everywhere! mrx invites two girls sitting next to us to join us, they do and we talk and drink corona for about an hour or so. its getting late we all say our goodbyes and we head back to the agency. we chat awhile with Ricardo then we all turn in. i go to bed a little disappointed that i didnt get to spend time with L, she was looking forward to it and so was i. o well 48 hour to go...goodnight.

I have to hand it to you, you do a great job of telling your story. As crazy as it all sounds i can hardly wait for the rest of the story.

first imnot money bags. if you will reread my trip report you'll see that no one ever asked for money or items from me. each incident i offered...the bed, the boys shoes , and the cash. no one my entire trip in cali asked for money from me including L. who knows about mr vespa maybe he did hear through the grapevine that a gringo was hanging around...i dont know? but according to the sister he had been coming around for weeks long before i showed up.

Pack I dont want to rain on your rationalization, but did you ever stop to think that the scooter may be a troublesome colombian boyfriend. Would the sister tell you if he was? That was my initial impression from your story.
You will be criticised and you expected it. It strikes me that you know what is going on,  so obviously you did not post this story for advice. You posted, take the abuse and don't try to defend your position, it makes you appear like you won't listen. Keep your mind, eyes, and coronary arterys open. suerte  jim C

One night towords the end of my stay Ken and I were sitting around in his apartment when the doorbell rang. It was about 9:30PM and it was the cleaning girl. I welcomed her in, after all she's what we'd all like to see poolside in a breif bikini. The story she had was typical if you've been there a few times. Seems the mother of the owner of the apartment was to leave Cali on a flight for Miami at 4:00am the next morning and needed to buy 1500 dollars. Really!!! and for this she sends the maid who as far as we could see wasn't holding several large paper bags full of pesos. Did she, the mother or the owner think we are such idiots that we keep $1500 in cash dollars sitting around an apartment that she the maid has a key to?! And neither one of us could recall ever hearing of any Miami bound flights that left at 4:00pm. I told her in no uncertain terms that neither one of us ever brings dollars to the country. That's what cajeros autimaticos are for. She looked slightly ofended and headed back down the elevator to search elsewhere for greenbacks. Such a colorfull country! And I love it.

The fact that they didn't come out and ask you directly means little to me as I view your story from the sidelines.  Why ask, when you hand it over on the first hint of some problem.  None of us can say with absolute certainty whether the scooter incident was a scam however in all honesty it has the makings of one.

Even if the debt existed, and the scooter incident was not some act, consider the possibility that L is manipulating your good nature to get at your wallet.  From afar, it seems like if L and her sister were truly embarressed by the incident, I think a more appropriate response would not to have mentioned the debt at all.   Don't underestimate the ability of a cunning Calena to manipulate your good nature for her benefit.

Listen I've been taken a few times by people in Cali who I thought were my friends.  People can go to great lengths, sometimes incredible, to seperate you from your wallet.

Good comment, "to manipulate your good nature for her benefit."  I've been there...done that and continue to do so.  Everyone recognizes a softy.  Flashing red lights on my forehead.  LOL.

Anyway, we're all kind of beating up on you over this gal.  Hey, I've done just as bad or worse.  In fact, I was stupid enough to give a guy I knew pretty well my debit card.  I was occupied and I asked him to walk to the corner near Avenida Sexta and bring me back 200,000 pesos.  He returned about three minutes later with the 200,000 pesos and my card but he somehow forgot to mention the extra 200,000 he took out for himself. LOL!!  Talk about a stupid gringo!!  Anyway live and learn I guess...

I think we don't have the whole story with the dude on the scooter, but how many red flags does it take?
