My Story Part 5

On a Saturday in Cali, Colombia in the Pacifico Hotel I had an appointment with a girl named Johanna. I had heard about her through some mutual friends. One friend said you might like her another told me stay away. I thought the second friend just wanted to set me up with one of her friends or a relative so I decided to meet Johanna. At about 11:00AM Johanna walked into the hotel. She was dressed in old jeans with an old top and some old shoes. Her hair needed to be re-colored because her dark brown roots where showing through. She was not as pretty as I had heard but she was cute and full of life. We talked and decided to have lunch and talk some more. I was attracted to her charm and her energy. I decided to ask her if she wanted to go dancing that night. This was right up Johanna's alley. You see Johanna IS Rumba. She was a little hesitant when I suggested one of the nicer clubs in Cali. I then realized that she had nothing to wear. So I suggested that I buy her a dress and some shoes,MY FIRST MISTAKE. Don't buy things for the chica's, get to know them. We went out that night and had a nice time with some other friends. Johanna is a great dancer and it's just fun to watch her dance. The next day I met another girl, no good. I wanted to see Johanna again. I called her and she came running. For the next 10 days I spent most of my time getting to know Johanna. One friend told me, " you don't her, she's the best actress in the whole world". These words still haunt me. Over the next week I decided that to get to know Johanna better and to save some money on hotel rooms I would rent an apt. in Cuidad Jardin. Since Johanna lived on a finca about 45 to 60 minutes from the south I thought that we could spend more time together getting to know each other in a more relaxed setting. I had questions, could Johanna cook, was she organized and neat etc. And no I had not slept with Johanna. During this time at Pacifico Royal I decided to get a driver to take us around Cali, his name was Jose Luis. He would wait for Johanna and me wherever and advise us of where to get what we needed.He became a friend. Over the next months Johanna and I got to know each other. I would go to Cali once a month and visit her. I allowed her to stay in the apt during the day time to study but she was not to sleep there. After about 3 months I was convinced that maybe Johanna could move into the apt and live there full time. I had to test her to see if she was responsible. so I told her move in against the protests of her aunt who she was living with. I thought her aunt was just jealous of Johanna because she was literally moving from the outhouse to the penthouse. Oh by the way, Johanna's Aunt is Sandra's mother.Just relax, there's more. More months went by and I thought that we had built a nice relationship between us. I had decided to ask Johanna to marry me in the late fall and plan a wedding for the spring of 2001. Over the course of time I noticed small things and received a disturbing phone call in January of 2001. The caller said she had seen Johanna with my driver Jose Luis kissing!! I went to Cali to find out if this was true. At the time I spoke to Johanna 5 to 8 times a day on the phone. I thought I knew where she was and what she was doing almost all of the dayand night. I couldn't confirm the story. Besides Johanna had been sick with a bad cold most of that week and was in bed. I thought, just another rumor.I won't go into the details of my months with Johanna, let me just say when I was in Cali, Johanna was always with me and concerned about me.What more could a guy want, right. In January I told Jose Luis I didn't need him anymore, he was getting to expensive. Besides I had met a cousin of Johanna's that I gave the nickname "Freddy Flash". He's a taxi drive and is very reliable a much cheaper then my other drive. So we started to use Freddy to drive Johanna when I wasn't in town. As time got closer to the wedding in June of this year I began to notice small changes in Johanna. She was more argumentative then in past months. She didn't care about what I thought about a subject, like the color of her hair. She just colored it and said this is it and I like it. I told her not to give the apt phone number out to people but she didn't listen and we had many guys calling for Johanna. She told me they where school friends and gays friends. I asked, how many gay guys are there in Cali, I didn't know any? This continue until 6 weeks before the wedding I noticed our phone conversations became one sided. Johanna had nothing to say to me and wasn't asking any questions about the wedding, the states, something was happening. Then on May 22 I called Johanna at 8:00am to say good morning and she was very strange. I asked what's wrong? A little side bar, I was scheduled to go to Cali to get Johanna and bring her back with me to the states in about 2 weeks. After I asked her what was wrong, this is what she told me....................

Im sorry...I just have a really hard time buying this story.....knowing how much you got burned the first time...... for you to do the whole thing again......?   I sincerely hope that you are just a "very good fictional story writer" and not someone who was so desperate for a mate that they let themsleves be blinded all over again.

P.S. On the chance your story happens to be true.....a word of advice..........if you didn't learn from your mistakes the first time...... you will do it again.....all of us on this board can look forward ( or regret!!) to "My Story Part 9, 19, 11,etc"...

Well..If this is all true........you would probably be better to join a service called...."Friends of Cali" that I read about on the "gingo board" They "claim".....to have women that are sincere about finding a husband..they also state that they do not let their members be members of other agencies. They claim to avoid women who are "players"...or "green card sharks"..because of this screening process they also state to have a 95% success rate with marriages. (yes...I know that number sounds high)

I have not read about anyones personal experience with this agency ( on this board or the gringo board...other then they are expensive..)  However...if you still have not found the Calena of your dreams...you may want to look into them to avoid making the same costly mistakes again and again.

thanks...now im glued to the computer waiting for part 6. talk about bad luck . however dont feel alone i know many men who have had similar experiences in fact i know of two gringos right now that are experiencing problems with their calenas. i look forward to part 6.

Oh man please tell me this is really a fictional story! This is so depressing.

If this story is really true I think something to learn would be for every one of us going down there to remember to go out with all the women we are able to at first no matter if we "like" the first one that has some "spark" even if we think it will offend this first girl if we go out with the rest of the girls we agreed to see starting the next day. Also let us not buy stuff for anyone on the first trip, this shows that all they have to do is give us some basic flattery and they can get stuff in return. Sounds like a minor form of something else.

I think this actress thing is a serious threat for really knowing if these girls are being honest or not. But if we ALL would meet to converse with ALL the women who we agreed to meet in the first place, at least some of these dishonest actresses would know that its not so easy to trick us gringos as they think, and we won't just rip up the list of meeting the other girls if they smile at us in a certain way.

Man I hope the agency owners who come on this board will be vigilant about these kinds of women and remove them immediately and permanently from their listings and contact their families to get some kind of justice. There has to be some kind of internal punishment for girls who go to such extremes. They can't be led to think that they can get away with all of this and then just go back to Columbia and start the whole thing over again with another gringo!

HA!!!!! Someone else besides me spelled Colombia incorrectly. Get ready to be made aware of it:)

It seems that some people haven't figured out that wherever you go, women are women. Remember that when a MOB site claims that the women are happy and successful where they are and that the only reason they leave Cali or Bogota is for their man. Or how a Calena only wants to be a good "homelover". Ultimately, if your successful with AW, you'll do allright in Colombia and if your a miserable failure with AW, then you might as well stay home and save your money. Talking about agency owners, at some point, I'd bet that someone will break ahead of the pack and offer an agency where the woman are truly screened to weed out the "lurkers" and perhaps teach english to their members not to mention implementing other ideas that will put him / her ahead of the pack for good. I understand some agencies do some of this but I hear it's not significant. That' what I'm currently visiting this site for, I want lots of different opinions on trips as far as in their mind, what worked and what didn't.
