That most of the guys here were turned off by the ad reinforces my point. She may be a sweetheart, and she be looking for a specific kind of guy that most of us are not, but that those few lines did more to alienate the majority guys rather than pique their interest. Even Ray's comments, though not non-negative, were more neutral than positive. I agree with Ray that something more eye catching than "simple, honest Filipina..." is a good idea, but if flipping the switch off to most male readers doesn't seem a wise way to advertise yourself.

I guess it takes a special kind of man to get the kind of woman like Tricia.  I guess what I'm trying to point out is that its just a profile.  It is a miniscule part of what she is as a person.  That maybe her way to weed out the wackos who are looking for slaves.  Ooops! Did I say that?

As for the term 'simple' used by most Pinays in their profiles--I surely hope they'd stop using this word to describe themselves.  The dictionary itself have a negative description of that word.  It is an absolute insult to be called 'simple'.

Just my two cents.

Yes, I agree that Tricia's profile is only a 'miniscule part of what she is as a person.' She could be better or worse. I think she posted it here to get a 'rise' out of us. It appears to me that she is the one looking for the slave! Maybe I should report her to Loren Legarda! Shocked)

'Simple' as defined first in Merriam-Webster's dictionary and used in the Philippines means: Modest - unpretentious, Innocent - free from guilt or sin, Decent - conforming to standards of propriety, good taste, or morality. That is the way Filipinas use and mean the word 'simple.' My wife is proud to call herself 'simple.' It applies very well, since she is unpretentious and moral! She is very intelligent, well educated, and not at all subservient!
