Hi Jay,

ROFLMAO! And that was only about once a week...including Burger King. I don't think she has eaten there in over a year. Must have RICE!!! Forget wheat, except for an occasional pandesal and spaghetti.

This guys site is very convincing. Makes him look like a wealthy log home builder. However, if he was doing so well, why can't HE afford the $9,000, plus $2,500 per month. The whole site is designed to make you think he is doing well.

Hi Jay,

You're right...he's been in the Philippines long enough to know the score. Probably has all of his money tied up in personal investments...women and booze! LOL That doesn't usually pay good dividends.

I found it interesting that this guy doesn't live in a log cabin, unless I missed something. I saw an awful lot of nice nipa huts, but no log cabins.

RAY:

WHO is this sexy chick with the hair anyway? Maybe THIS is where that money is going?

STEPHEN:

Yeah....I found that photo also.  Of course, I felt called of God to search for more.....photos, of course.  (LOL)

I spent about 90 minutes on his website.  He teaches folks how to build their own log homes.  He lives in the Phils now (He doesn't say where, but I gather it's around Cebu area.)  He's married to a Filipina named Elvie and has a son.  He teaches these Log Home seminars in the Phils now.

Very interesting site.  I'm gathering that he's one of these anti-govt. types that live in Washington, Idaho and Montana.  He's got a definate fear of any type of government authority.  (That's just my opinion.....I could be wrong.)

And about the sexy young chick.....that's not his wife.  But it's an 18 year that he has helped raise for the last 10 years.

Perhpas I should go to the Phils and take his log cabin building seminar....then I could build a log cabin in the Phils.

Thanks Stephen!

But I don't know about a log cabin. Somehow the thought of building a log cabin in the Phils sounds about as dumb as building a nipa hut in Oregon... (LOL)

Hi Ray,

I was thinking along the same lines as you guys. Most of the kids in the photos looked well nourished and healthy to me...except for a few of the older kids who are probably drinking, sniffing rugby and doing whatever else they can get their hands on. I know there are many people living in severe poverty in the Philippines. However, it appears to me that these kids have a pretty good hustle going on. To the average Kano, used to seeing the "poor" in the US wearing Fubu and Tommy, many Filipinos look destitute. This Kano may actually be trying to do a good thing...but McDonalds? It's amazing how many a 50 kilo bag of rice will feed. I give my money to legitimate charities or help those who I feel are really needy.

My ife says that if you talk to them (and I have) and they are so "poor" how come they speak such good english?  She also said that if you give money to these children it will be talken from them by older kids and/or adults.  Its also against the law to give them anything and we were warned of it by health officals when we took the required class before marriage.  You are supposed to report them to the authorities.

Hi Matt,
I looked at that page , and it seems to me that most of those pictures are of the kids that sell stuff (bottles of water, fruit, candy, etc.)  at traffic lights, which is very common in the Phils.
I have been to the Phils 5 times, and I always see these kids selling stuff, but I have never heard of them being used in the manner described on that web page.
The area of Cebu that they mention is called Fuente Osmena, and I have been there dozens of times.
Also, I do not understand why they want to take these kids to McDonalds.  There are dozens of restaurants where they could buy rice and chicken, which is cheaper and healthier.
I have actually offered food to these kids many times, and most of the time they do not want to be fed and tell me they are not hungry, they just want money that is then given to their parents that stick them out in the street to beg or to work selling the bottles of water or fruit.
Anyway, I think these peoples motive are good, but I think they are over reacting.

While we were in tabiliran, bohol, kids would come up and ask for money,,they got none,,then I would ask my wife why their hair was dyed?  If they can afford dye,,they can afford food.  They saw a white guy and thought they could scam some money

Hi Steve, I thought those children's hair was dyed also but found out that they are called (Bajao) people that live on the sea, they are just out in the sun and salt water allot, that makes there hair like that, they dive for coins and get sea shells to sell. They go back and forth from the ocean to town, it depends where the most money is and where they have been chased away from. My wife told me that in 1995 there were no beggars at all in Tagbiliran.
