Who have recently gone on a tour.  How it turned out and what was your general gut feeling about the ladies and their sincerity.

I Toured with Anastasia in March.  My general feeling is that most of the really attractive ladies were NOT sincere.  There is a dozen different, creative ways to get scammed and I saw the majority of the men on the tour get snagged one way or another.  I do not know any other option other than tours that puts you in the room with 100's of beautiful or semi-beautiful woman but just remember many are there to seperate you from your dollars.  Also most of the really gorgeous gals do not show to socials and are generally unavailable.  Do not even think about spending dollars on email and translation! From what I saw it is a complete joke and the guys on tour were pissed about it.

I ain't much better myself in retrospect I feel like I ending up scamming the girl I was with since I choose not to carry our 4 days together into anything more but that is another story.

Well fathertime, what would you have done differenly? You are obviously observant enough to spot a scam. Was the whole trip a scam? Were all the ladies on the scam or were there any real potential brides present? Did anyone make a love connection?

And doing a little road work, mapping out the country side.

Has anybody else done this, I'd be curious to know of some fun travel routes with smooth roads (if they even exist!).

My focus would be along the Russian border area near the black sea region or is this area a bit too far off the beaten path for the average adventure bound American.

I would image by now.  Trying to find a good and decent girl in a major city is a complete waste of time and money.

And one must really go out on a limb and go through some villages to really find somebody who's honest and sincere.

How's advertising in a newspaper paid off for some of you gents?

If you're looking in the villages, though, you might find a decent girl, but you'll have a lot on your hands.  If you're patient, maybe that's perfect for you, but those girls are going to have little serious education and even less English and may not be aware of some of the realities of American life (i.e. it's not Dallas).  It might also be harder for them to integrate into American life.  But hey, if that doesn't bother you, good luck Smiley

Removed from society and backwards.  I thought, those were the ladies you guy were looking for.  Somebody that knows how to take care of their man.  The more educated ones are more adapt to sizing you up finanically and dumping you after they get the greencard.  And if they're real pretty and smart.  Don't under estimate these women.

I think alot of guys believe what agencies are telling them and I'd bet they day dream up a false reality of how motherly these ladies really are.   Well, I have to admit that's about how I felt when I went on a tour a few years ago.  I swallowed all of that advertising - hook, line and sinker.

The guys that I have met who do have a eastern european lady.  Their wives seem to have the same story line.  Her girl friend ran a ad and she thought what the heck, and did so as well.  And most of these ladies have some college, but are no experts in any real field of expertise.  I would tend to say they are unskilled and if they were still over there no doubt about they'd be struggling and living in a  cinder block building built by Stallin.

Some have actually said if they had the choice of living in American vs Ukraine, they'd move back with good reason as things are improving over there.  Slowly and steadily.

Now the $25,000 dollar question, would you be willing to relocate over there for say a year or so...

Well, if villages in Ukraine are anything like villages in Romania (and I heard foreigners say that Ukraine is far behind us), the girls aren't going to be socialites and literatti.  It's not like rural US or Canada, where folks still have all amenities.  Villages are pretty poor, there is less education about HIV and STDs, and the schools aren't great.  Your girl could be an Einstein, but you'd have to put her through school and probably teach her things like using a microwave or a washing machine.  She might embarass you in social situations, but anyone could do that (I'd be careful about that if you are in a high-visibility job or if it's important to you that your spouse meshes with your co-workers).

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just don't expect Heidi, and be prepared to do a lot of hand-holding.

Doesn't that have something to do with telephone commuications.

That does worry me about the washing machine, as the gears and the wooden handle are pretty old...  Do you think she knows what a wash board is ?

What kind of clothes washing soap do they use in Romainian in the countryside?  Liquid or powdered.  wink, wink...Smiley

Sweetheart, liquid or powder are for washing machines.  Do you think that your average rural family can afford a washing machine? It's probably bar soap - the kind made for washing clothes and which doesn't smell that great. But then you were winking, so you probably know that :p

In their defense, washing machine settings are starting to look like the Enterprise flight controls. I must admit that I've never had the patience to learn things like double rinsing, short rinsing, whatever.  Also in their defense, when I was in college and working as an RA in my dorm, I had to teach my American-born and bred boys how to use the washer ... and that, oh, you shouldn't stick Armani cashmere sweaters in the dryer ... unless you want to regift them to your 2-year old cousin...

Very funny. You must know my wife. Had to teach her ALL kinds of things, including the above two.  And she only lived a few miles out of Moscow.

Looking for a decent girl.   Looks will fade in time, but will her attitude for expensive clothes and such won't.

Guys that are going abroad to find a wife, really aren't looking for a play toy.  If it means teaching somebody something new.  Well, that's a good thing.

I have to admit, I'd kinda hate to find a girl who has higher standards than I.  She'd get bored and tired of me..and I think this is what happens alot of times when the guys pick a hottie.

Ya just gotta be honest with yourself first, before you step off the porch and into the great unknown.

I'd love to hear about more stories from guys about what their wife didn't know.

See, I didn't notice "staying fit and athletic" as ever being a priority.  Women there just started to exercise.  Before, they simply starved themselves.

So the fit and athletic thing is mostly a North-American obsession - they prefer to just be thin and starving is easier than working out.  Also, this kind of lifestyle is a bit too much of an expectation from a rural girl, methinks.  I'm not saying she wouldn't start doing it, but I wouldn't expect them to be as invested in going to the gym, drinking protein shakes, and getting into the fitness culture.  I find it dead boring, to be honest, but I think going to the gym is better than starving Smiley) But then I've never been blade-thin like they are, and I'm okay - I like food.

Gee, all my experiences with European women have proven that they simply eat a healthier diet than their American counterparts. I never ate a frozen meal or canned veggies when I was there. Everything was fresh and usually just came from the market that day. Guess that's what I loved about my European ex-wife. We didn't do frozen, canned food. Guess that's how I managed to stay so thin and fit.

Would be relatively thin... depends on her diet of fresh fruit on the farm/village.  Might even be malnurshed which might account for them to be a little chunky.

From what I saw when I was there.  I did notice they ate more fruits and vegetables which are readily available at the underground tunnel entrances.  The corner deli is not like the ones we have here in the states either.
