... in response to RW'isms, posted by robobond on Oct 21, 2002Here's a few "RW'isms" that I've seen in agency profiles that might be confusing to AM ; but I'm sure there's hundreds more . Some words/phrases/expressions just don't translate well from Russian to English ( and that's why it's probably a good idea to avoid 'slang' terms in correspondence ); and I'm guessing that a lot of women/agencies just don't bother to check if the words they're using have the same meaning in English...
RW Term ( English Meaning or Translation ) :
Active rest ( indoor and outdoor activities for relaxation)
Careful ( caring or considerate )
Communicable, Communicative ( Sociable )
Communicating ( socializing )
Counterbalanced ( even-tempered )
Create coziness at home ( homemaking )
Create a family ( Get married )
Economist ( accountant, clerk , salesperson )
Financially Secure ( stable income )
High/Higher Education ( College or University education or degree )
Genorous ( giving or supportive , not necessarily finacially)
Machine ( car )
Materially Provided ( financially secure or stable )
Shaping ( aerobics or exercise )
Sporty ( athletic or physically fit )
Strong ( refers to character , not physical qualities ; strong-willed in other words )
Strong Family ( good / normal family )
Well Balanced ( even-tempered )
Without Bad Habits ( non-smoker/drinker/drug user )
