Did anybody on this board had any experience with the grand-service agency in Minsk (Belarus)? Any recommendations for other Belarus agencies in Minsk?

... in response to Belarus agency Grand-service.com?, posted by panol11 on Oct 11, 2002

Hi Panol11 ,
I don't have any experience with the agency you asked about or any of the other ones mentioned , so I can't help you there .

I've been reading some of the posts and comments here regarding Belarus ; and felt compelled to throw in my 2 cents. These are only my personal observations , experiences , and opinions ; so take it for what it's worth...

I disagree with some of the opinions expressed here regarding conditions in Belarus . Some of the people posting here have had some negative experiences with Belarus and/or Belarus agencies ; so their impressions and opinions regarding Belarus are of course going to be somewhat negative in nature . My experiences in Belarus were for the most part positive in nature ; so my impressions and opinions are of course going to be somewhat more positive .

If you're seriously considering pursuing a relationship with a woman from Belarus , I think that you may need to do a little more leg work or homework on the front end than if you were pursuing a relationship with a woman from one of the other FSU countries . Why ? Several reasons .
First of all , the Chernobyl issue . I think that this issue is widely misunderstood ; and that a lot of guys just don't take the time to sort through all of the information that's available on this topic . And that a lot of misconceptions get spread by word of mouth . As a result of that , Belarus gets a 'bad rap' as far as searching for a RW there goes . If you're serious about this , check out archive page #000188 and read some of the discussion there . Check out some of the links mentioned there .

Second , I would have to say that I agree with some of the comments made by Jack , Globetrotter , and Bubba Gump ; but that I disagree with some of their conclusions . I've been to Minsk 4 times ; and I can tell you that Yes! the political situation there sucks . And Yes! some of the people there are seeing hard times . And Yes! there are scammers in Minsk and in Belarus . And Yes! there is certainly some organized scamming coming out of Minsk and Belarus . And Yes! there are some desperate women living in Belarus . On those points I would have to agree .

However , is the amount of scammers and organized scamming more prevalent in Minsk or Belarus than it is in Russia or the Ukraine ? I don't think so . Just take a look at some of the anti-scam websites and look at where the majority of the scams are taking place . Are there more scams per capita in Belarus than in any of the former FSU countries ? Not in my opinion .

As far as women from Belarus being 'more desperate to leave ' ... I just didn't see this in my experiences . All of the women I met ( about a dozen or so ) all had jobs , all had families , all had 'lives of their own ' ; they did not have to leave the country , they were not desperate or in any great hurry to rush into anything . The women I met there all knew that Yes! there was something out there that was maybe better than what they had ; but there were certain prerequisites and conditions that would have to be met or agreed upon before any of them would consider leaving . These women did not impress me as being particularly 'desperate ' .

I think that Jack offered some good advice when he said , '....be extremely careful and move slowly , do not rush into anything in Belarus ....'  I think that this is good advice , not only concerning Belarus , but for any FSU country . I'm of the opinion that Belarus is as of yet 'untapped' as a resource for RW ; that it's not yet been 'fished out' as some say about other areas of the FSU . Only my honest opinion , take it for what it's worth .
Good Luck
Don

You can try Blue Saphires as mentioned below.  Other agencies that I think are in some way connected to or spun off of Blue Saphires are E911 and all-russian-girls. What Jack said about Belarus women being more desparate is probably true also.  I went to Latvia and some people there commented how tough it was in Belarus with incomes under about $30 a month.  Belarus doesn't have a seaport and natural resources like Latvia.

You can find a review of Blue Saphires on Planet Love's Agency search (East. European, Page 2)

http://www.planet-love.com/russian/index2.php

It appears that they are somehow connected to over 30 other agencies

I agree with Jack....in that the more destitute a country is, the more likely you will find more scammers there, which for my money, includes Ukraine.  I met a scammer from Minsk, who, after I decided not to visit, asked me for $350.

I guess this was a gratuity for the fact that she had written to me for 4 months, and nothing was to come of it.

I have nothing to do with "sapphires", but they treat customers correctly.  If I had it to do all over again....2 years ago, and I knew who Jack was, could be spoken to, and he could be of assistance, I would have gone with him.  Mind you, I don't know him, have never corresponded with him, but think his credibility...respectable.

TROLLS!!!

Why, when someone mentions something against RW (aside from the obvious BS) do dome of you cry...troll?  I think we might learn something, even from the naysayers.  It certainly makes you think of what you are getting yourself into...the good as well as the potential bad.

However, all of you are big boys, and able to handle success, as well as potential failure...I think.

Search with great care.

Regards....

Some once told me that the Chernobyl fallout actually affected Belarus more than Russia or Ukraine because of weather patterns.

I have no idea if it is true.

Anyone else ever hear this?

It's true that the Chernobyl accident did affect Belarus and Russia more than the Ukraine ; but the Minsk area wasn't affected at all . Hardest hit areas were southeastern ( Gomel region ) Belarus , northern Ukraine , and the Briansk region of Russia .
This topic was discussed here again just a few weeks ago ; check out archive page # 00188 .
Just wanted to make sure that Panol knows that the Minsk region was NOT contaminated from the Chernobyl accident...

Try bluesapphires.net.  They have 1700 girls from Minsk, give home phone numbers, warn against looking for youngsters, and no need to use their translators for letters unless you decide to.  I've had no problems with them, and was pleased with their recommendations and the way they do business.  It's owned by a Brit.

Good Luck.

Panol I do not know anything about this agency you asked about so I cannot comment on them. But as you are asking about Belarus, and Minisk, I will offer you this bit of information and advice.

And let me preface these statement's by saying these are only my opinions, someone else can have opposite, differing views and opinions (especially those who have fiancees or brides from here).

The country Belarus is under much more hardship than Russia or Ukraine. In fact Russia and Ukraine's current outlook look quite rosey compared to Belarus. With today's hardships in Belarus many of the women there are desperate to leave. By comparison, unlike the years 1993 thru 1998, the Russian and Ukraine woman are not so desperate to leave there country. Of course scammers want to leave regardless but the number of truely good women who are "desperate" to leave is much smaller when compared to the past.

I guess what I am saying is that there appears to me to be a much larger percentage of women who are willing to do almost anything to leave Belarus. In addition, due to the extreme hard economics of Belarus, there is  a HIGH percentage of scamming coming out of Belarus, and a HIGH percentage of ORGANIZED scamming coming out of Belarus. So my advice, be extrememly careful and move slowly, do not rush into anything in Belarus.
