This is my perspective on the new visa policy. I will fly to her and go to the interview with her and then I will fly home from poland and she will fly back to the ukraine and wait for approval. Once she gets that I will purchase her tickets back to poland have a escort there to take her to the hotel and embassy. Then will fly her here. NOt to the home airport but, one relatively close. This way I can catch a one way flight from that airport to home which will be the same as hers. At least this way I can bring her through customs with me and guide her through the airport. This also solves the problem of having time off and scheduling and also save a little money at the same time.( not that is the issue but, it is better than nothing)  I would love to travel both times but, this just does not appear to be happening now and I think it is more important to be at the interview then picking up the visa. This is my solution to this Problem. Rick

Rick... This isn't a bad approach.

I just wish I didn't have to have her drag her son to the interview... back home again.. and then back out.

Hey Jack -- considering the snafu this is going to cause all of the guys, have you lined up flats in Warsaw?

It might not be a bad idea to have some that can be rented. Two weeks in Warsaw might be cheaper than flying home and flying back. And safer than taking the train.

Do you have anyone in Warsaw?

Not Warsaw but we have in Moscow. Been working very hard on lining up some affordable flats for these ladies in Moscow.

Not in the center, have found several flats just for these ladies. Right now we have two ladies staying in flats waiting for there visas. The sad thing is they believe it will be a few days and I am more inclined to believe it will be a few weeks. I have told the guys, who are paying for the flats, that I think it could be a few weeks and they have decided to let the ladies wait up to a week.

Probably should consider Warsaw but there are some very in-expensive hotels in Warsaw where ladies can stay.

I agree... it could be a couple of weeks.

I somehow think that if someone dropped by the Embassy every day and asked: "Is it ready yet?" it might get done faster.

That's why I would rather line up a Warsaw flat instead of a hotel. Maybe something that could be rented by the week...

I may do some web searching to find something if you don't have anything lined up already...

In our case, Marina had business to complete back home in the Crimea before she could travel to join me in the U.S.  We met in Warsaw for the interview, then she flew back from Warsaw through Kiev.  I flew back to New York.  About a month later, she and our son flew out of Kiev, direct flight to New York.  I met them in the terminal, they went through customs and passport control on their own, no problems.

was to have Marina and Katya driven to Warsaw by a driver that had already brought a few girls there. Her mom and aunt went along with them too. He drove them to their hotel, the next day to the embassy and then the next day he dropped them off at the airport (in the good old days :-), before going back w/ her mom and aunt. I then met them in NY and everything went smooth.
And if they aren't in western Ukraine, maybe they could fly to Warsaw and avoid having to cross the border...

When my wife had her interview, I was at the embassey in Warsaw with her.  I left Atlanta on Saturday and flew through Vienna to meet her in Kiev.  We spent Sunday evening, all day Monday, and Tuesday morning in Kiev.  Tuesday afternoon we took a short flight from Kiev to Warsaw and had the interview on Wednesday.  On Thursday morning we left Warsaw and we were home on Thursday evening.
We took care of business on the other side of the world in less than a week.  Had she needed to return home, I would have put her on a flight to Kiev before I got on one to fly home.  A month or two later, I would have again done a one week whirlwind trip if necessary to bring her home through countries that were strange to her and to take her by the hand to lead her through US Customs and INS.

From my standpoint, this is just another wrinkle that would add a couple thousand to the total bill.  If you love her, you will find a way.

Rick,
I must be missing something - unless I'm mistaken, she will have to clear customs at her first 'point-of-entry' into the US.
If she flys from Poland to the US, she will have to clear customs at the first "stop".
I fail to see how you can be with her, unless you are also on-board the same flight.
What am I missing?

If this is the route you wish to take, then I suggest you spend some time on the Air Canada web site - you can fly her from Warsaw to Frankfurt then to Toronto (and with luck you can have your travel agent arrange the seating so that you will sit beside her on the Toronto to your home leg).
As far as I know, she will be 'in transit' at Toronto and I'm sorry but I don't know about the Canadian visa requirements in this situation, although I suspect that a 'Transit Visa' may be required (because one travelling to Canada via the US requires one!).
