I can't understand what all the hoopla is about.. right on the gov INS web site it says personal checks are fine..

"Paying Fees:
PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. The Service Center will accept money orders, personal checks, and cashiers checks for payment of fees. The Service Center cannot deposit cash. Be sure checks are signed and correctly dated. Post-dated checks are acceptable as long as the date on the check is no more than 5 days in advance of the date the check is received."

Hope this helps.

... in response to Personal checks ok- it's on INS web site..., posted by Oscar on Jun 7, 2002

I'll say it again.

Local field INS offices are free to establish their own individual policies for payment acceptance. Period.

Some will accept personal checks - and some will NOT.

Reference the following website: http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/denver/aboutus.htm - and you will see, if you look hard enough, that Denver does NOT accept personal checks. Period.

I have not done an exhaustive search to see exactly which will - and which will not - accept personal checks. That is up to each person for themselves.

What is clear, however, is that you (and others) stand to be sorely disappointed if you go to your local INS office expecting to be able to file and pay with a personal check - and they turn you away.

I don't have a clue as to the "local" centers, I spoke about the 4 processing centers and they DO take personal checks.  Now does that mean I would use one?  NO!  I will always use a money order but a person CAN use a personal check if they wish...

Sheesh, let's drop it..

Oscar - in your opening post, you indicate that you don't understand what all the "hoopla" is about. Well, yes, that much is clear - you clearly do NOT understand.

So I will try - yet again - to explain it to you. If it doesn't sink in the first time you read what follows - try reading it again REAL SLOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLYYYY. And if that doesn't work - maybe someone can read it to you and make an attempt to interpret.

First major point (are you following so far Oscar??):

Personal checks are, indeed, accepted by the 4 regional INS service centers.

Hey Oscar - we don't disagree or have an issue yet --smile--.

However Oscar - how many time do you suppose you will have to interact with one of the 4 service centers?? Give up?? Well  most of us (not all - depending on residence) - will only have interactions with the SC's  - now get this - ONE TIME. Yes, That's All Oscar - only one single solitary time.

In fairness, since you are still in the searching phase, it probably isn't fair to be poking fun at you since you obviously don't know the first thing about this phase of the process - but still . . . .

Now for the second major point (are you still with me Oscar or is someone already reading this to you??? Here we go again . . .):

All of the INS local field offices are free to establish their own local policies for terms of payment! Yes, it's true Oscar. No sh1t!! And you know what else Oscar?!? Some of them refuse to take those same personal checks that the SCs were happy to accept! How about that Oscar! Hard to believe now isn't it?!? Whereas Nebraska would happily - indeed graciously - accept the risk of your paying with a personal check - some of these lowly, good-for-nothing field INS offices will NOT! Talk about unfair!!

And to make it worse Oscar (yes, it *does* get worse, so I hope your still hanging in there buddy) - MOST of your contact with the INS is going to be with these same lowlife scumbags that think you are not a good credit risk - and those scumbags demand that you pay with a money order! Can you imagine the audacity!

Now Oscar - there is one final point to make (at least one). When this thread started, it was started because someone blindly made the claim that "OF COURSE THE INS ACCEPTS PERSONAL CHECKS." Which, as we now know Oscar, is untrue (You *have* followed me all along - haven't you Oscar??? - and you *do* now know this statement was untrue, don't you Oscar???).

Now I could be mistaken - but I just cannot imagine a good soul such as yourself Oscar - wishing for anyone to be misled by information coming from this board that is untrue. You wouldn't want that - would you Oscar??

So now - if you've read everything **REAL** closely, it should be finally clear to you what all this "hoopla" is about.

If not - just post again and I'll be happy to take yet another run at clearing it up for you Oscar.

Cheers!

- Dan

I am glad you seem to be having such a total cow over all this Dan, it is all rather hilarious seeing you freak like this.. LOL!  I made a simple comment that the INS does indeed accept personal checks, I got it right off their web site.  If you don't like it and can't accept it, take it up with them and ask them to remove this communist plot propaganda from their websites ok?? LOL!  And I was always referring to the SERVICE CENTERS Einstein, can you say "service centers"?  That's right, I thought you could, it is indeed a beautiful day in the neighborhood..

Take your Lorazepam and go back to sleep ok??

Sheesh!

Oscar ol' Boy, you really ought not be playing around with that sort of drug - it can create hallucinations - you know, sort of like the one where you said I "lost." LOL

And yes I am married to a lovely lady from the FSU. I only toy around with the likes of you when we aren't busy exploring Vail (as we did this past weekend) or some other such pastime.

Now Oscar - look REALLY close and see if you can find the spelling error I left for you. ROFLMAO.

And I know a lot about drugs like Lorazepam Dan, because of having to recommend prescriptions for them constantly for miserable people like yourself.. ;-)

Look, I made it known, just like others here, that the INS Service Centers do indeed take personal checks.  You couldn't handle being WRONG so you start with the personal attacks.. Grow up ok??

... in response to Try to lose a little more gracefully Dan..., posted by Oscar on Jun 9, 2002

It'll improve your mood and make you feel less 'sting' about your recent failures on the board. Really - it's no disgrace.  Others, much worse (or better, as the case may be) than you, have also tried to spread misinformation and were caught. They (well, most of them anyway) had the intelligence (there's that word again Oscar 'ol Chap) to recognize when they were stung and called it a day. You, OTOH, don't appear to share in their wisdom.

It's OK - it's already out there for everyone to read for themselves. They already know that I never made any false claims - and they already know that you did. Psssst - Oscar - it's one of the curses of a public message board. Unless Patrick decides to delete your drivel, it remains for all to read - and they have.

But you keep up with your delusions Oscar. I'm sure you do, indeed, know all about Lorazepam and many others. Maybe you need to increase the dosage Oscar. Your anxiety levels are far too high to be healthy at the moment.

Take Care Oscar,

- Dan

Of course you are trying again to distort the FACTS Dannyboy..  what else would you try to do being DOWN 5 to zip! LOL!  And of course I still stand behind what I originally said, that the INS does indeed take personal checks..  You can whine all you want but all the service centers do take checks...  Go to their web sites, read it and weep loser..

Yes, it is my mission in life to completely mislead people here Dan..  I at least contribute something as opposed to your drivel..

One just has to wonder how happy a marriage (if there really is one!) could be with you spending your every waking moment here?? LOL!  Give me a break!! LOLOLOL!

I hope your meds last you through the night! ;-)))
