TRIP REPORT PART 6-

So we had this very nice dinner.  I had brought some Champagne for them and her dad made a lot of toasts..  I was drinking my beloved Peach juice (man, I love that stuff!).  Towards the end of the evening, her Father, who had up to this time been a little cool towards me because I know he just wants the best for his daughter, he gives me his paratroopers wings from when he was in the Soviet Army in the 60's!  I didn't want to take this but he insisted, so I guess I won him over! LOL!  A good time for all..

We spent a nice time for the time I was there, learning more about each other, sometimes using the interpreter, sometimes on our own..  She is just a pretty classy girl.  Many women there dress pretty sexy.  If some of these girls were to wear here what they wear there, some people would call them "sleasy"!  But it really isn't considered "sleasy" there persay, it's just their culture..  But Alyona, although I consider her quite sexy, didn't dress "sleasy", she dressed very stylish and nice.  She might wear some very sexy tight pants but then would wear a very tasteful, conservative sweater or something..  I liked her style a lot.  And every time I saw her, her hair was done differently!  Of course she is a stylist but the care she took each day (as most of the girls do) was just amazing to me!  Most of these girls change their nail poish on an almost nightly basis!  Very feminine women, but yet SOOO strong!  But the guys there just don't appreciate any of it, it seems to me!

There were a few times that I thought about Anna back in Odessa as she was a lot of fun and we had laughed a lot together, but my flats phone did not call long distance and during the days I was with Alyona so I never called her.  I had thought it would be nice to call her to wish her a Happy Womens Day, but I wasn't able to..        

Anyway, I asked Alyona if she would like to come with me to Kiev on Saturday as I was leaving Sunday and she said of course..  So we got plane tickets.  It cost $100 for my ticket one way, the cost of 2 train rides is all (and worth every penny not to have to ride the train for another 12 hours!) and her roundtrip ticket was $140 (she gets a discount as a Ukrainian).  So Saturday morning we flew from Dnepro to Kiev.  We left at 11am and it took a little over an hour is all!  It would have been another 12 hours by train (boy those trains go REAAALLLY slow! LOL!  She was a bit nervous as she had only flown once, but it was fine.  It was a small jet, probably seats for maybe 30 people and the cockpit door was open for half the trip!! LOL!  It was pretty funny!

I need to end here for tonight..  Next part, Kiev and the "Dark time"... ;-(

Oscar,
RW can often be construed as being sleazy because they are so darn sexy.  In this country we have become conditioned to equate sexy as being sleazy because so few "good" AW are sexy whereas so many "bad" AW try to be sexy.  Some where along the line we Americans have made a connection with sexy women being sleazy, easy and cheap.  A "good" woman would only be sexy in a most subtle manner here.  When a RW hits you square between the eyes with her sensuality and sexiness, our conditioning screams "bad girl."  There is so much European influence on RW in their attitudes towards style, sex and nudity that we Americans are not too familiar with.  And let's be honest too, RW tend to have the figures that would be most flattering in sexy clothes.  

The sexiness of RW also works against them in fitting into our American society.  Sometimes they are too sexy for their own good.  All this sensuality and sexiness is a tremendous burden for us AM to bare. LOL.  I am suffering my way through it the best I can!

Agreed Ken,

I have met a lot of women in the FSU and again, it's just the culture.. Many of these very "sexy" girls have high morals etc..  But it's true, if some of them dressed here the way they do there, they could easily be labelled "loose"
or "sleasy"..  
They are much more fashion conscious there in my opinion..  and again, the women will go to any lengths to look good for their men.  They feel it's their duty as women to be very attractive to men, at least that's what many have told me.  I asked my interpreter in Odessa who was a 22 year old knockout about her 4 inch heels and were they difficult to wear??  She said no way!  She wouldn't be without them as they make the legs look especially long and pretty..  They wear these things ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT on miserable potholed sidewalks and cobbnlestone streets and not once did I hear a woman complain!  Try to get 98% of AM to even wear a 2 inch heel and after a half hour they complain like they have been asked to walk on hot coals or something!  It's just a different mind set..  
These are VERY feminine women, but strong as all getout, 99% of them on any regular day could be in a Vogue magazine as far as their ability to do their makeup etc..  They are SO much better at these things than most (not all) AW..

I once found myself getting perturbed that my wife was holding up our FISHING trip to put on full makeup, do her hair, and polish her nails. Luckily I came to my senses and slapped myself before I said anything. Man, ain't life grand?

Everytime I read new reports it brings back a flood of good memories. Every trip is different and yet the same. Keep it coming Oscar. And I hope that you don't have to many computer errors to keep us waiting.
