I may be going to Europe on business in the near future. I am considering meeting a lady that I have corresponded with somewhere in Europe. I will probably not have the time to venture into Ukraine.

I heard mention once before that there was a web site that listed where Ukrainians can easily travel with their passport.  Does anyone know where this is, if not what countries have you heard are not a problem.

I have heard Spain is ok for example.

If this does transpire, I will need to cover her airfare. I understand that if I purchase a ticket with a credit card - she can not cash it in. I have not checked with the airlines regarding this yet - anyone research this before?

She can always apply for a tourist visa..  You can write letters of support indicating that you will meet all expenses and ensure full compliance of the visa including her return to Ukraine before the expiration of the visa.

I had no trouble in securing a tourist visa for a friend of mine to visit the USA during my recent visit to the USA.

It can be a hassel and depends on a number of things,,,  such as your standing Financial etc... and her age, if she has children and they will be remaining in Ukraine etc etc...  but it is not impossible.  I had met many people from uraine that travel to Europe on a regular basis..

You will need a passport and visa if you plan to visit Switzerland.

Another alternative is consider visiting Thailand....

But then you could travel to Ukraine...

I understand that your lady can go there with little hassle.  The only thing she needs is enough spending cash to show customs.

I remember one person posting here a while back about bringing his girl there.  It was an interesting story.  Perhaps it is still in the archives...

... in response to You might try Prague, Czeckoslovakia, posted by John K on Jan 22, 2002

Czech Republic and Hungary have both instituted visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens. It was met with the usual reciprocity on the part of Ukraine towards their citizenry.

Having said that, I agree that Prague would be a wonderful trip - just a little more difficult than some other destinations.

Maybe try Turkey or Poland. I am pretty certain neither require visas for Ukrainian citizens.

Sure in Prague, they are not a member of the Commun Market (CEE), but for the countries that you mentioned
it is out of the question.

Will allow travel if your ladyfriend can get a Shengen visa. It is a part of the border-free Europe and allows movement across borders in continental Western Europe without even presenting a passport, in most cases.

As I understand it, it *will* be a bit of a challenge for her to acquire it - though it is certainly do-able. Probably ask her to contact some reputable travel agents in her local area and ask specifically what support they might provide her for acquiring a Shengen visa.

I hope this helps.

To go to any country in CEE, Spain is included, the girl will need a Shegen Visa.
Which can be easily obtain if she has her ticket, a proof of room reservation (paid in advance) for the lenght
her stay, so on  and on.  Because once you do get in one of the fourteen countries that composed the CEE,
you may go anywhere without customs or immigration controls.
It can be done in three weeks.
This whar I have gather from the post here and what I have been told.
