Going to see the in-laws in Jan and made the tickets out so we'd have a two night stay in Amsterdam.  Didn't even think about her possibly needing a Visa to enter the country.  Larisa has her Conditional Resident Greencard but still uses her Ukrainian Passport.  With all the forced layovers in Amsterdam I can't see that we'll have a problem but didn't get any help from the Amsterdam website.  Just want to double check.  Thanks for the help.

Glad to see the board is still going strong and a lot of new faces have become "old-timers".   Keep up the good work.  For all those still thinking about it, the adventure is well worth the lengthy paperwork.

Hi Marty!

Nice to see you here again.

Usually when one travels to another country through a third country which requires the visa and a person plans to entry this country he needs a transit visa. People I know who travelled this way always got the transit visa here in Moscow. It's a special visa and usually cost about half of a price of a "normal" visa.

Last year I travelled to Washington DC through Frankfurt. I had to go from Frankfurt by American Airlines and the last moment they cancelled the flight. I was the only one Russian passenger (others were Germans or Americans), so I needed a German visa to leave the airport area for a hotel. They arranged a transit visa for me directly at the airport and it took just a few minutes.

Good luck to you,

Tootsie

Thanks, best idea so far.  Larisa is already in Ukraine, anybody know if she can get a transit visa there or is this a trip to Warsaw or Moscow?

Marty,

I read your dilemna and I just went thru this with getting a visa for Finland for my wife and daughter.  Below I listed the site where you will need the information for the visa.  SHE WILL NEED A VISA!  A greencard does not entitle citizenship.  Just follow the instructions on the forms.  Need any help....just e-mail me.

Thanks for the tip, I wouldn't have found it.  Got ahold of my travel agent and changed flights so I wouldn't have to worry about it.  Will attempt a transit visa at the airport for the overnight, otherwise we'll just have a long layover at the airport.  My own fault for not thinking about that visa.
