I received this email today from a reliable friend on another forum:

--------------------------------------------
Hi All

I was told by xxxxx today that our embassy in Moscow is now
processing K1 visas without the interview. They are only requiring it
in special circumstances. Maybe someone can verify this. She said she read it in the newspaper. I think they are so backed up and this will speed things up...

---------------------------------------------

I remain skeptical, but given their serious backlog it would make some sense and sure would be great news. Anybody hear anything?

I read somewhere that they have changed the visa process for a Tourist/Business Visa.  In some cases you do not need an interview.  IE If you have visited USA before?  Are you sure she is not micing this up with non-imigration visas...

I just wrote the embassy on another question and added a question on the interview waiver to the end of it.  I will report any response when I get it.

Embassy replied to my email asking whether the interview had been eliminated from the visa process in Moscow.  Their answer was that they are processing visa as usual.

Thanks, Dave. I really didn't think it could be true, though one never knows how things can turn around over there. My fiancee's interview is coming up on the 4th and we're hoping for the best. It was rescheduled from Oct 18th (when they closed.) Waiting... waiting...
