Hey there Rags,
Man I am really surprised that you are sending V over through Moscow on Aeroflot.  I would have thought that from your last trip that you would have abandoned that company all together.  Did you just happen to purchase the tickets beforehand or did they offer some special prices that you just could not pass up.

I just would think that you would try to arrange another flight with another company through a different location.  Hopefully when my girl gets ready to come here I would love to have her fly into the airport in Cincinatti because I can drive there in about an hour.

Keep me posted on any new news.  I am sure that when she arrives here I may never hear from you again but it would be great to be able to visit you there sometime.

I bought the tickets before my last (and I do mean L A S T) shanking by Aeroflot. The idea being to avoid hassles at passport control (permission to live abroad) by flying out via Moscow.

I had a similar experience with TWA many years ago except that in addition to paying a charge to change the tickets due to a canceled flight, I had to fly from JFK in NYC instead of Philedlphia where I lived at the time.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I will agree with your assesment about KLM/Northwest as I have had two wonderful trips with them between South Florida and Kiev.

We had to wait for clearance and we sat on the runway a good 20 minutes, apparently their was a window of opportunity and this KLM pilot took it.  It was a old 737-100 as it had the old style engines on it.

I swear he jammed the throttles and we went screaming down the runway...  Something about flying them.. I do like their security as KLM will have you go through metal detectors and X-ray machines again in their own little spaces.

Gee, I alway scratched my head about that, now I know why!

I remember on my return trip out of Amsterdam, they look at your passport and look you up and down.  I forgot I was born in Japan (as it sez it in the passport)... oh! geez, when he asked me 20 questions about life and travel to Ukraine.  I could have flipped out my military ID, but I stood in line patiently and let him stare me up and down!

I'll bet RAGS woman will get through MOSCOW without a hitch.  Remember, she's speaks the language much better than Ed and look helluva lot better than RAGS too. ha. Smiley
